The emotions don’t control Riley. They’re just a representation of what’s going on in her head. For example, Anxiety taking off Riley’s sense of self and Joy putting it back, was Riley questioning who she is when she was stuck choosing between Val and her friends
I've seen a lot of people who watched this movie say they didn't understand what Envie's purpose was-that she doesn't seem to have a clear role in the narrative. While I would have to agree with them that her "sidekick" vibe isn't written amazingly, she still serves a purpose in the story that aligns with how desire interacts with anxiety (because I do think, although Envie is a cuter name for her, she represents desire more than envy). Anxiety is a useful emotion that allows us to fear potential scenarios so we can prepare for them. It can go overboard, but it's still overall a very important emotion to have. Anxiety gives us doubt in our ability to do something or achieve something, prompting us to prepare. But why would we need anxiety? Well, because we desire what it helps us achieve. In the movie, Riley desires friends, so anxiety helps her act accordingly to make some; she wants to get that spot on the team, so anxiety is there to help. We feel anxious because we desire. This movie made me cry so much-three times on my first watch, twice on my second, and four times on my fourth-and I loved it so, so very much. As a person with generalized anxiety disorder, I cannot express how grateful I am that this movie exists for those who are earlier on their journey with mental illness. And I'm so thankful they made sure anxiety wasn't portrayed as evil or useless, and that they emphasized its importance throughout the movie. Believing my anxiety was my enemy was a thought that really inhibited my ability to cope with it.
Sorry to correct you, but in the first movie, the main focus wasn't Joy learning about the significance of ALL of Riley's memories. More or so, it was her learning about the importance of Sadness and other negative emotions being able to take the wheel when they need to. It's in the sequel where she learned from Anxiety that "[they] don't get to choose who Riley is."
@@OdogRuby77 Hey! I think you misinterpreted what I meant. I said in the video that in the first movie, Joy learned the significance of memories regardless of the emotion attached to them. Meaning she learned the importance of the other emotions taking control and making memories.

Then, Isolation takes control and Mischief could take over, if he has to. But Riley gets so isolated that Isolation turns gray and freezes the entire console along with himself, preventing Joy from making Riley happy. Riley gets a depressive episode that lasts for days until she ends up where Isolation turns gray. Mischief's goal was to isolate Riley from her peers that may interrupt her learning process and potentially cause her to worry, bringing back Anxiety. Serenity is only needed when Mischief calls her over. The solution to this problem is that Fear, Timidity, Anxiety, and Guilt use a faraway recall tube. Riley freaks out despite being controlled by Isolation. She gets up and feels extremely down. Once the 4 worrier emotions head back inside, Anger restrains Mischief and Suspicion keeps an eye on Isolation. Guilt sparkles and glows as it seems that Riley chooses Guilt to reflect. Then Timidity, Anxiety, Nostalgia, Sadness... and after a long time, Isolation snaps out and turns back to his normal colors. After Riley gets a good cry, Joy is finally chosen to make Riley herself again.
I’m about to cry to seeing how Riley grew up and how sometimes sadness but controller in all those times she would go with her mom to get pizza and the first one. It’s just so sad and but happy to see her grow up to.
I LOVE this movie the message definitely one of my faves!! 💛💙 Seeing the inside of Riley and her parents brains with their emotions is so fun! The ending was emotional in every best way possible
Love the Sadness Cosplay and I agree this sequel is as good if not better than the first _Inside Out_ and on par with _Toy Story 2-3_ As for Anxiety she isn’t a villain but more of an antagonist, considering even though she’s doing what’s best for Riley such as fitting in with the other Fire Hawks and making new friends, she is also hindering Riley from growing and making her less confident with all this Anxiety buildup. In fact, Anxiety building more Anxiety in the belief system causing Riley to self-doubt herself is very reminiscent when Joy tries to make Riley always happy and hindering Sadness from the first _Inside Out_ Thanks again Rukiya.💛💙❤️💜💚🧡🩵🩷💜

I’m about to cry to seeing how Riley grew up and how sometimes sadness but controller in all those times she would go with her mom to get pizza and the first one. It’s just so sad and but happy to see her grow up to.
Yes Rukyia!! The Saddness cosplay ✨️ATE✨️
No cause I also started tearing up when all the emotions started hugging Riley's inner self
OK but the Sadness cosplay is soooo good!
Love your reactions and edits xD
why is no one talking about the distracted boyfriend meme in the background 24:10 😭
THE QUEEN HAS POSTED!! ❤❤❤
Anxiety was the best part of the movie I love her character she stole the spotlight for me 🧡
RUKIYA!! LMAO i love you.
I love inside out 2. It's my favorite movie. It makes me cry everytime🧡
BRO YOU SHOULD COSPLAY AT A CON I SWEAR ITS THE BEST (Also Disgust and envy are my favorite I love them)
I LOVE this movie the message definitely one of my faves!! 💛💙 Seeing the inside of Riley and her parents brains with their emotions is so fun!
The ending was emotional in every best way possible
Love the Sadness Cosplay and I agree this sequel is as good if not better than the first _Inside Out_ and on par with _Toy Story 2-3_
As for Anxiety she isn’t a villain but more of an antagonist, considering even though she’s doing what’s best for Riley such as fitting in with the other Fire Hawks and making new friends, she is also hindering Riley from growing and making her less confident with all this Anxiety buildup.
In fact, Anxiety building more Anxiety in the belief system causing Riley to self-doubt herself is very reminiscent when Joy tries to make Riley always happy and hindering Sadness from the first _Inside Out_
Thanks again Rukiya.💛💙❤️💜💚🧡🩵🩷💜
Yes you finally reacted to this
This movie was amazing!!! 🤩
Lol 0:03 😂 GOT me Trolling but love You Rukya❤

i got shown! in the comments! thanks Rukiya so much. i’m gonna be watching your vids for eternity after this❤.
The detail where joy tries to reverse the memories to find the answer the same thing she did in last movie that made her realise that sadness is important was really good
*Love the sadness cosplay! :3*
Yess rukiya lets applaud for rukiya
WAIT I JS REALIZED YOU HAVE HXH FUNKO POPS IN THE BACKGROUND- 😍🤩
I do! It's my favourite anime🥰❤️
This movie made me bawl out like a little kid I get anxiety attacks just like how Riley went through and just watching this scene it made cry out I love watching your videos Rukiya ❤
Okay but hear me out Anxiety got some big baggage 😂 if they're that stressed
I swear this is the first time she cared about joy not feeling…..well joyful first movie joy having a mental breakdown meanwhile rukiya could care less
19:50 Ennui does sound like french
I think she’s is well the actress is French
16:50 joy, i love you, but c'mon 😭✋🏽
Bro I'm five days late but you ATE with that cosplay of Sadness. And as a person who's dealing with anxiety, this movie represented it very well. It's litterally the best movie ever frfr. Dw, I also cried at that scene where the new sense of self came lol. It's relatable. Very relateable
Fun fact:During Rileys anxiety attack, you can hear Anxietys voice glitching and her voice breaking because she didn't want to lose her no matter what.
I love your videos and this movie. I can relate to Riley when she said she freaked out when her friends said that they were moving schools, my friends transferred to another school when I was in third grade so I was lonely but I found friends and now I am doing better. I just wish that Ennui kind of had a bigger role in the movie since my emotions are mostly run by Fear and Ennui
I was so sad at the end You credit because you cut it off. When Big dark secret said burn the hole on the rug Happiness said oh that's it.I thought we peed in the pool and then the dark secret Ran into the vault again.Because that was the actual secret😂😂
I would’ve loved to see more of Envy, she was easily my favorite part of the movie 😂💙💚
34:03; This scene made me cry because it is a beautifully simple representation of such a complex idea: building an identity for yourself that is not true to who and what you are. Some part of you will know and will reject it, and the way forward is to embrace everything, love yourself in all your complexity, the good and bad moments, and realize you're a person, and that makes you good enough.
