These mowers are a dime a dozen and are everywhere, and I've seen many of these with this simple no start issue. In this video I clean out the carburetor from start to finish on this Craftsman M100.
I like to take shroud cover off and unmount tank to have more room to work on it.
That's a good idea too.
phuggin Aaaay!
Nice work. That's another happy customer.
Thank you for the video
Did that and it worked. After a while it turned off. Turned back back on worked little long then off got dark so I’ll wait till daylight.
Thanks for the video, the mower is now working fine, saved me some money 😊
I got an unusual question to ask
Have you known anyone to add an electric clutch to the blade engagement on an LT1000 equivalent Craftsman or Husqvarna are poulan
I haven't, but I know they made those type mowers that came with an electric PTO clutch standard. You'd basically need a mower like that as a parts mower for the wiring, etc. I bet it can be done though.
Symptom: clogged carb.
Solution: clean carb. jets.
Y'all need to address the PROBLEM, not the SYMPTOM.
The problem, aka "root cause" appears to be that there's no filtration to keep dirt out of the carburetor. Why is there no tiny little fuel filter between the tank and carb? If you could figure this out, and offer this as an upgrade, you might make a poop-ton of money retrofitting mowers to keep dirt out of the carburetor.
Symptoms and root causes. VERY important to identify root cause, and fix *that*.
Peace, y'all!
These mowers have a screen in the bottom of the gas tank that acts as the fuel filter. The jet is very small on these, and are prone to get water in the plastic bowl from sweating and Ethanol.
@@EllisMowersandmore oh. I learned something new! Thank you! I am conditioned to see them as separate items. Have a superb Spring!
I can tell by the plastic front end on this mower is a m.t.d made unit that plastic is a strange thing because of the grass being thrown out of the under side of the mower deck I had a bolens that was doing the same thing
How much do you charge for this?
$25. It was brought to me and was 15 minutes of work. Guy works at the local orphanage so I helped them out a bit.
@@EllisMowersandmore use a small flat tip on jet assy. There are two slots on top you can pop it out.
I am still getting used to watching those plastic carbs being cleaned. They look simple enough. Do they have adjustment screws on them? Thanks for the videos.
No adjustment screws, they are the easiest carb that I have found to clean. They don't get corroded and usually can get them off, cleaned and back on in about 10 minutes.
Good video! I did the exact same thing just yesterday with a trash find Poulan with the Briggs 500 engine. It's a 2018. Fuel looked like orange juice. After a quick clean, the machine starts easy and runs great. It'll be a $100.00 machine here in Chicagoland.
These newer Briggs catch a lot of criticism for their plastic carbs, but they don't have issues with corrosion and varnish buildup like the metal ones especially when they get water in them.
@@EllisMowersandmore This was an easy one. I like working on a "boring" job more than a "problem child."
You scored.
Hoping it’s cool there, it’s 109 right now at 7pm
Waiting tell tonight or very early morning to work
You must be in TX
What I do on every one with over head value is remove cover and adjust value lash, seems every one needs it plus rebuild carbs
It’s nearly mandatory to fix them 😊
Phill have replaced three plastic carbs and still can’t get it to stop surging. Checked head gasket and adjusted valves.
Vacuum leaks
Look at orings, 2 of them
