All right- you got my attention. Mine new out of the box has tons of machining grit, etc. Is dirty. Feels gritty during use. Thanks for pointing out this video. Rather, for MAKING it, then leading me to it. I damn, sure will clean mine of manufacturing crap, relube in a manner that wont infect the primer system, BEFORE my first batch. I owe you a beer.
Nice vids ,,, BTW , the little ball with the spring , holding the shell plate in place at each station is called a Detent Ball
Great vids T but this just reminds me how much i didnt like my LEE 1000. I have a good amount of time reloading and have been through about 4 different presses. (5 years reloading) I like the press but if your on a budget and have xtra time on your hands.( what you will need for cleaning your 1000 all the time.) and i went with a good single stage press.Still i learned a lot from you vids and its great to see the community and comment.s .take care all.!
Think I'll use CLP, then follow with 70% isopropyl, then lube. Steel wool, polish aluminum under shell feeder and the bullet ejection ramp with Simichrome. Lube with remington dri lube or graphite. Watcha think?
Steel wool on the exit chute would be a good idea. Maybe a little wax or some other low-friction coating, sure.
Alrighty, I've got it apart and ready to begin cleaning. I think I can do it...it not, box it up and return to Cabela's. It was really dirty with powder. When the primer doesn't seat, the powder pours straight through and dirties the mechanism.
its die cast aluminum lol
