Hi Cowboy T! Absolutely fantastic instructional videos, wich gave me the guts to try out a Pro 1000 for making 9 mm. Took it apart to day, by following your instructions. Polished the shellpate and carrier and gave it a wee drop of grease.....Spins even softer than a kitten now!

Just one thing, I found that grease under the carrier plate did eventually find its way into the primer mechanism and I only used a quarter of what you did and counter intuitive as you say. I found a small amount of graphite powder was a better option as it's a dry lubricant. Also, I wish my partner was as receptive to my shooting/reloading as yours;-)
I like all your reloading videos and one question on the cleaning of the Lee 1000. My son and I just ordered one (June arrival) and I was wondering if the shell plate needed to be cleaned BEFORE we even use the press ? Thanks, Jim Nevada resident and preacher-with a gun :)
I've found that sometimes some residual manufacturing oils can get left in the priming system. That can cause problems, so I'd recommend this cleaning procedure just to save you some hassle. Remember: no lube whatsoever on the priming parts, not even a little bit!
The adjustment screw belongs on the INSIDE ONLY. If it's on the outside it can move out and screw up the indexing adjustment, or can get lost if it falls out. DO NOT DO WHAT THIS GUY IS DOING. ITS WRONG! Also DO NOT USE ANY GREASE. Any oils will find there way through out the insides and foul up. Its a magnet for powder that may spill and will gunk up the works. This guy seems like a decent person, but needs some help with what to do and what not to do.

compressed air keeps the primer tube clean too less cleaning required give the whole shell plate and primer pin a good blow too

Yep, that does help. I'll give it an occasional puff when I see a powder flake show up.
