  • Supertramp - Waiting So Long
Another day, another new band pops up and blows me away. Where does all this creativity come from! The 70s was clearly the pinnacle of music!

I've known of Supertramp all my life and got several of their albums, but from that particular album I'm only familiar with the hit It's Raining Again. So it's basically my first time listening to that song as well. They sort of had their grand period from 1974 to 1979.

Cheeky is a fine description of this band. They have style, depth, and an unusual way to play funky jazz. Late Prog and Jazz/Fusion with a nice pop twist.

When I think of Supertramp, I think of economy of motion, I consider the carefully chosen chord progressions, and the dramatic dynamic changes within each phrase. Truly a perfect combination of exceptional musicians. Too bad they eventually hated each other, almost like the Beatles and Pink Floyd.

... a song from their last album together... then Roger left... . Crime Of The Century was their masterpiece, then they became more and more commerical until this last album together, where they tried to live in the 80s. Two egos, one group problem is something we know from other big bands✌.

Not a big Supertramp fan. I always thought of them as prog light. This came after the big albums "Crime of the Century" and "Breakfast in America". I haven't heard it before, it was ok, I'm not gonna go out and buy it though. You liked it. May I suggest two other bands along this line? Alan Parson Project, his album "I Robot" gives Pink Floyd a run for money. 10cc is another one, their album "How Dare You" is amazing, the song "I'm Mandy, Fly Me" will blow your mind. Just some suggestions. US Roadie 1 signing out. Happy Friday.

I've always been a fan of Alan Parsons Project and 10cc. I do like both of them more than Supertramp actually. And I like bands like Toto and Level 42 even more. Although with all bands they have their good and bad albums, and we all hear differently too. How Dare You by 10cc is a wild ride. I don't listen to it much anymore because it sticks too much to my mind afterwards ha ha, but it is a masterpiece of an album. Very impressive.
