Seriously watched 1100 video and not one shows what you actually have to do to pop the hood. Omg. I have a 2005 and I would think this would also work for me. Thank you for the video. Honestly very helpful. 🎉

Most helpful video EVER!!!!!!! Nobody shows you what you're looking for underneath and the the way something looks at the top, isn't obligated to look the same from the bottom. So grateful! Thank You!

When you replace the cable don’t forget to attach a drag line from the inside of the car when you pull the cable out so you can pull the new cable in using the dragline otherwise it’s gonna be very hard to get a new cable through the firewall good luck just take your time and be patient

Btw, the white plastic piece where it cracked is where it should ACTUALLY be mounted to the bracket. Figured that out later and I believe this is correct. Gotta still buy a replacement cable.

Same situation I am in with my 2010, I've been researching. This video has been the best help. Cost to replace one anywhere is over $150 so definitely appreciate the video.

Thanks! This really got me out of a jam. The plastic cable bracket broke right at the latch. They made it out of plastic...............

All you need to use is a strong coat hanger or a metal electrical snake just cut a piece put a hook on it and go from underneath and latch onto that piece and pull it to the right it took me all of five minutes I tried it your way with the Long screwdriver and I was not able to do it finally I use a piece of a metal electrical snake and I opened it in five minutes.

As long as that ball end is still attached to the hood latch, an easier way is to just disconnect the wire from the pull lever under the dash and then use locking pliers to pull on the cable to release the hood.

Thanks for posting this. My wife's RAV is doing the same thing right now and I haven't had a chance to investigate yet. Please post a video when you replace the cable, I may have to do that also.

At 4:33, that end of the cable (not the hood end) came out on mine. I can't for the life of me hook it back up due to the tension. Am I going to need to do what you did? I can open my hood just by pulling on that silver piece under the dash. Just not as nice as using the handle.

I have a 2012 Rav4. Removed all the splash guards. However, I can't even see the "b" lever from underneath. Much less can I fit my hand to try to reach the lever. Any suggestions?

I did what you suggested and it worked. Then, I replaced the broken cable - that was the easy part. But, the problem persists and it's worse now. So again, I went under the car and although I can swing the latch I can't get to that "click" sound that tells you that it was released. Nothing happens and the hood remain closed. Any ideas?

Can you use a duck tape to tape the broken white plastic then put it back in the slot?

Doubt it as I don't think there'll be enough strength but you can try

Could you have taken a pair of channel locks or locking powers and simply pulled the slack cable farther to unlstchbit and then do the zip tie shortcut after opening the hood? We never saw you open the hood nor know how you opened it.

Hi Vern, never thought of trying your method but worth a shot.

I have no way of knowing what panel you removed because you never showed it in place to begin with. I have no idea what panel to look for. That renders this video kind of useless for me.
