Isn't this just crazy? My brother-in-law talks about how this came on the radio when he was at a stoplight. He was completely stunned. So much so the cars behind him started honking. He was so taken aback.
No one had ever heard anything like this before. Zeppelin came out of the gates gangbusters. And no one expected it. It changed rock music forever. In fact, the term rock had never been used. And their music is still relevant. I love the Beatles. But Led Zeppelin defined the real rock.

I can only imagine!! But this, I didn't know. It never occurred to me until now that the word rock music must have been used for the first time at a certain point of time. Their music is immortal. It transports me to a magical place. Thank you for watching. 🙂🤘🏾

The term rock and roll was popularized by Alan Freed in the 1950s. It was a well-known genre of music long before Led Zeppelin arrived on the scene. Chuck Berry's song "Rock and Roll Music" was released in 1957 (coincidentally the same year Elvis Presley, known as the King of Rock and Roll, released "Jailhouse Rock"). The Beatles recorded their version of Rock and Roll Music in 1964.
Led Zeppelin certainly changed the game considerably though, blending blues, rock, folk and other genres and electrifying it all. Jimi Hendrix had already been doing this for a couple years, but Jimmy Page accelerated the development of this form of electric blues rock into the mainstream consciousness. Plus, this combo of four rock gods in one band made them absolute giants.

My buddy spun it for me about 2 weeks after the USA release. I liked the 1st and last song right off the bat.
After 3-4 times I liked it all. AM radio didn`t play it, as they liked the 2-3 minute songs. Lucky for me living in
the bay area we had Stereo FM channels that played it. `69-70 went to Winterland (SF) $5. 2nd time we sat
next to the "light crew" people in the 2nd deck..... ahhhhhh the memories! 10X better live.

Greetings from Canada. So you found the answer... one step at a time. It's how to approach the great ones: Zep, Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull, Dire Straits, Rush, Eurythmics and- let's say- Jeff Beck. Enjoy them all, Baba Rocker. Peace, love and bellbottoms.

🎊 Going through the “classics” from A to Z is the best approach, because you get to evolve WITH the band from song to song and album to album. Try on some Steely Dan and Supertramp when you get a chance…and don’t forget about The Who‼️

Led Zeppelin did not do singles. They wanted to be and were pretty strict about being an album rock band.
When this album came out it was still in the midst of the hippie days and peace and love. Zeppelin was something totally different. The only band that was similar and came out about the same time was Black Sabbath.
People found out about them from concerts and word of mouth.
The music critics despised them. They trashed the album (and others that came out). No one paid attention to the critics. The people loved the group. And in a couple years they would be ruling the world.
You may find this video very interesting. Zeppelin's first tour in America and in Jan. 1969 they played a venue in Boston called the Boston Tea Party. The story is fascinating.

My apologies, I just saw this comment. It was held for review by RUclips.
Thank you for telling me. I try to picture and travel in time. And it's fascinating.
I can't believe the music critics despised them??!!! These guys were all round musical geniuses. I guess that further contributes to the very likely possibility that critics of any field are absolutely brainless. 🤷🏾‍♂️
I will check this out. Thank you for watching. 🙂🤘🏾
