    I've been into basses for 25 years, and I gotta say this is the most handsome bass I've seen. Just all business, and yet elegant and well proportioned layout.

    Mine is in sunburst, I added the original chrome Fender pickup & bridge covers, now it has a more authentic look. I love this bass.

      Have the same one. Thinking about doing the same to mine. You got any vids of it?

      @@Livemusic1800 Sorry no vids, I was afraid that both covers would not fit but the fit was perfect with no mods needed.

    I like the way this bass still has tone even when listening on a cellphone speaker. That's actually pretty rare on a bass and can only be good for mix translatability.

    I wish that headstock shape, the tele-style or whatever it's called, was more common on basses, love the look.

    • @GingerBass

      I want a jazz bass with that headstock

    I bought the sunburst version about five or so years ago. Leaning toward a traditional look, I added the chrome covers, swapped the stock pickup for a Quarter-Pounder. Waiting on some Fender 9050 flatwounds to replace a set of D'Addario tapewounds.
    The Classic Vibe 50s Precision Bass is a really solid instrument. Vintage mojo without taking out a second mortgage.

    I`ve been playing since 1969 (I`m ok not fantastic). I have had most every Fender, Gibson and many others. I just sold all my "good" stuff and got the vibe `50`s and `60`s bass. I`m set for life. The neck and bridge need a little tweaking but they feel and sound great to me!

    • @EmpireMusicPgh
      @EmpireMusicPgh  2 года назад +4

      Can't beat these for the money! They certainly need some tweaking to get into better playing shape out of the box. I'll also say, the Squier's that I have owned have always needed setup more frequently than my higher-end basses. However, very strong value at the price! Thanks for watching - Anthony

      @@EmpireMusicPgh I agree 100%. I change strings and adjust neck. Play a little and wait a week. Give it a final adjustment and they both are staying really good. Ready for winter parties here!

    I purchased this instrument. Other than a very minor setup there wasn’t much to do with it. Plays great. sounds great. Pretty much gig ready off the rack. The finish and assembly are very good… buy one. Enjoy it.

    Mine have Fralin 51split p inside, tighter tone, solid E and meaty G string than stock pup. Oh, humcancelling too. A set of Labella LTF4A load and meet the serious organic old school p vibe.

  • @book3100
    @book3100 2 года назад +5

    One way to attack that single coil buzz is to roll off the tone a bit.
    But if you're looking at a 50's p bass, you want that sort of sound anyway.
    Still, from what I hear in this video, it sounds like an o.g. PBass.
    Get a little Ampeg Rocket and you're good.

      Fender Japan has the butterscotch version and I reckon a different single coil pick up as well

  • @coolcataye
    @coolcataye 8 месяцев назад

    That bass shape would be perfect if it was made with 2 split coil pickups, like the later P bass or the J bass, especially with noiseless pickups.

      That's called a "tug bar" and it's period accurate for the early P Basses. I believe (and I may stand corrected here... after all, this is the internet) it was assumed electric bass would be played with the thumb while the fingers where anchored on the bar. Thanks for watching - Anthony

    I watch all your reviews, they are very informative and I'd love to get one of these but I cannot stand the new vintage tall frets that seem ubiquitous on all Fenders. Fender; vintage frets are 6230's, not these ridiculous made for glissando frets.
