@@StreamScheme that's true. But 500 subs can take a long time aswell. I'm purely livestreaming on RUclips, I can't make time free to also create videos next to my 40hr job.
I definitely think it's also very important to not give up hope with a video you worked REALLY hard on. In January of 2021 I uploaded a video of a Pokemon challenge run just because I was getting burnt out from doing music education through video game music, and it didn't really get a lot of views, since, like you mentioned, I wasn't appealing to my audience. But that video popped off kinda out of nowhere and it's sitting over half a million views now, and I made TONS of mistakes in that video! It's VERY easy to feel discouraged when something you worked so hard on doesn't get the attention you think it deserves, but it will in due time! Don't give up everyone
I try to use creators who have great concepts, and packaging as examples, you're one of the best at it! Minecraft in one chunk was on of the best thumbnails/titles I'd seen in ages!
Community posts was something I was very interested in trying to utilize early on because I've seen how much those spread on mobile but unfortunately you can't make community posts until you have 500 subscribers so I can't.
oh they must have changed it then, I remember a few years back you needed 1,000. I'm glad to see they're making it... slightly more accessible? If they can just give it to you outright that would be much better lmao
It took me 2 years to get to 1000 subs, and 2 months to get to 10K subs on yt! I nearly gave up so many times in those 2 years, but I am glad I stuck with it!
Tip 1: Focus more on the key ideas the content addresses this will help make your content more accessible to others. Tip 2: Interact with the community you are trying to build Tip 3: Try to create videos that are related to each other where the viewers of one video would most likely want to click on the next.
Great advice! My most successful videos don't have my face in the thumbnail and the ones with my face have less views. Also, straight after this video I made a community poll. Thank you for the tips!
I really hope this snowball system goes away from this platform. I am so sick of it. I even had to lower my video quality just to keep posting more and it works way better. Video quality and the viewer interest in it is what should matter and not how often you post and what you post. Whoever came up with this crap system is certainly not doing it for the viewers. I had people complaining so many times why they get videos recommended weeks, months or even years after release even though they are highly interested into it. It just shows how crappy this algorithm really is. I honestly think we should not just accept this but make youtube change it. Anyways... good video. I rarely show my face in the thumbnail because I am asking the same questions you mentioned in that video xD
My biggest mistake is definitely not keeping up with my schedule. The main problem I face with that is struggles with mental health. Getting over a slump in productivity is super hard and in turn it makes me not press record or not write a script. I've heard numerous amounts of times that my content has potential, but I just need to upload more. It's rough sometimes
I just started and GD its alot of work. Not to mention the small learning curve if youve never used streaming software or done much video editing. I totally get this. There’s nothing more that I want than to upload fun videos and stream to people actually watching and chatting but sometimes anxiety and mental health get in the way and it’s hard to focus.
One thing I like about your content, even if sometimes I don't really like some aspects of your personality, is because even when you give advices for content creators, you never try to make anyone belive "this is the best and only way to grow" like other creators do. You give your honest opinion of what you actually have tried and worked for you, and if it also works for someone else, then great.

Stream scheme thank you so much man you have helped me reach affiliate on twitch and now I need to get started on my RUclips journey! You deserve 1 million subscribers! Good luck to everyone who’s trying to make it!!

Hello Sir Eljayem. I used to stream on twitch and all thanks to your guides and coaching that it took far less than a year to achieve 47 followers. But one day when I opened my twitch, I saw someone had changed my bio, and sent 70-80 whispers of free steam code scam. I really had no friends added on twitch but that much whispers... then next day my channel gets terminated forever. I still wonder how my account got hacked. I had all security options on strict and enabled and 2FA also enabled but still it gets hacked and terminated forever. I would love it if you can give me some advice regarding 1. Should I start streaming again? 2. Are animated and beautiful looking overlays helpful for a gaming channel? 3. How can Elgato Stream Deck help me as a streamer and is it a necessity?
The “content planning” is HUGE a lot of people have this big idea, make a single video on it and upload it before even planning out or starting the next couple videos. TV shows don’t release episodes sporadically they’re weekly and don’t keep people waiting and gives them content. SUPER brilliant advice.
The mistake that i have made is 1. Not putting enough effort , 2. With the snow ball effect i was building momentum (posting content my viewers like) but then i stop posting more content (even tho they ask for more content by dm me on Instagram asking for an upload and even commenting on the video) then I’m back to square one, which sucks with having a car cannel but not having the funds to build my personal car at the moment. I also want to start posting lifestyle videos too but scared that my audience won’t like to see it. I kinda need help not going to lie because I’ve kinda lost motivation but i still have the drive to make it big.
I'm a twitch music streamer, I see a lot of my fellow music streamers using RUclips as a repository for Twitch highlights and clips, like a storehouse to preserve legacy instead of creating content to appeal to a new and different YT audience. Nothing wrong with that of course, just something I've noticed. I've historically used YT to release music videos, and have only recently started making live looping tutorials and other content for twitch streamers. Not sure if that's an example of "trying to reach too many demographics reaches no one" kinda thing. I'm growing on Twitch, not so much on YT. Lots of good tips in this video, thank you!
Ayyyeee what a nice segue to the ad 🫡 Also incredible video as usual! Thanks for taking the time to do this. I can’t wait to get the community post option :D
Great vid dude. I watch a lot of your content, whether it's YT or Twitch caus either do both and I ALWAYS learn something new! Thanks for your guides and c'mon... obviously Digimon is the better franchise!
My worst feeling was randomly one video I uploaded had several hundred views in just a day or two so now I'm all excited thinking I'm getting somewhere and then my next 3 videos have like 5 views at best (same topic). LOL the alghorithm teases
I like the youtube focused videos you do since a big part of growing a community on twitch stems from either youtube or tiktok finding your audience for you. Tiktok has helped me a lot and now working on youtube so i'm in sponge mode just absorbing what you have to say and hopefully I will see results
I am definitely amazed with your guide, sir! Ever since I brought a Gaming Pc on august 8th, I've been listening and following steps from you to be a successful streamer in Twitch and RUclips! Hopping to see your channel raise up to over 200k subs! 👑👑👑
The schedule one hits me the hardest I've been bad with mine 😅 been overcomplicating my editing a bit with captions even though its usually only me talking, trying to tone it down a bit and keep a little interest going with shorts which hasn't done much 0.0 Need to get into the grind again once coding stops murdering me :') Love the video btw keep up the good work :)
I really don’t find it fair that community pools are locked behind the 500 subscriber wall. But I can definitely say that RUclips shorts are a real boost to the algorithm
RIP Eljayem! I would LOVE to use the poll feature, but these aren't even available until you have 500 subscribers. What is an alternative tip to those who have below 500 subs?
Great video, as usual. So, for new YT channels, would you suggest going straight into a schedule, or putting up a few videos and then getting into a routine? And, I hope next video goes deeper into community polls and the backend of YT. TY!
I’ve defiantly done a few especially with taking random breaks from uploading videos and also uploading video about a specific topic then somthing completely different next week.
That’s something I gotta keep in mind. Planning out the schedule instead of posting one whenever I get the chance. Maybe get a stockpile of those 10-15 videos on a specific niche and planning them out once they’re finished. I think that will work perfectly for the series I wanna start
I have not been able to upload frequently enough. But I have found the problem. I have noticed that I edit a lot faster and upload a lot more if I play horror games or one offs. Because they are intense to play and fun to edit. Unlike my halo vids I have tried to make which are not only kinda boring to record but boring to edit.
Community polls are awesome yes, I definitely want to use those, the only problem right now is that for community polls you need 500 subscribers and that is hard to achieve when you have no Internet (well that's my problem)
Thanks Elijay, I totally agree has I haven't recorded a video since June 20th and I am wanting to but haven't been getting slot of views, this give things I can improve for my next video. I don't stick to schedule because I don't have one.
I wanted to do RUclips because I am too ill to work but want to put something back out into the world, hopefully at some point start earning from the platform to allow me to come off of benefits but I'm not focusing on that right now. I do suffer from self confidence issues which may come across in the videos when continually trying to talk which will probably put many off. I'm not funny when I try to be, more cringeworthy, but for some reason I can be when I don't try lol. I also have severe social issues which makes me more nervous when recording, even though no one is physically there. Worse of all my depression and anxiety causes me to have to take long breaks, hoping these get shorter over time, which will put people off returning or subscribing even more since I'm not being consistent. These are not my only issues, have many more, but don't want to me this too long and have it coming across as a sob story, or even worse seeking pity. I am working on coming back again right now and hoping I can go longer before depression forces me off the platform again. I can't post polls though because I have not unlocked it yet.
One thing I noticed by my favorite RUclips creators is they post on a schedule and it’s not daily. It’s like three days a week. If you could pick a couple days to put out content and just do those days I bet things would turn around because your audience would know to look for you on those days. Just a suggestion because I too am disabled with depression and I know how hard it is to stay consistent. Hope things get better soon
Something to point out about community posts, you need to have 500 subscribers to gain access to them (correct me if I'm wrong) so that portion may not help some until they get there :) And once you do, then follow his advice!
I think an important thing to note is 500 Subs is still a "New RUclipsr" Not all advice works for every person, and we wouldn't have much to talk about if everything had to fit EVERY person hahaha but it's better to focus on the parts you can do rather than the parts you can't. From a quick scan of the comments, most choose to focus on the part they can't hahaha
My biggest problem is my release schedule, but not the way that you mentioned I can go 2-3 weeks without releasing a video and it'll do fine, but if I must release on Friday night at 5:00 MST or Saturday night at 5:00 MST; if I miss both of these windows I NEED to wait to next week.. if I don't my video will massively underperform sub-1k views vs 2-5k views.
1: Yeah I agree, there's plenty of other channels doing jvlogging stuff and my thumbnail is mid as fuck and people barely care about me irl, why would the internet be different 2: Yup, tohugh I had 0 idea there was free tools. I'm gonna have to do my best to use them 3: lmao whats a schedule... but yeah I really need to schedule stuff better
Hey thanks for the advice. I used your advice in other videos and just after a week on twitch im about to be affilated. Followed all your advice and tips. I want to start a RUclips Channel but honestly have no idea what content to post. I thought about just posting my live streams on twitch but thats boring. However thos video did help me a little. Also I dropped you a sub
Cool video, thanks. Just one question: poll subject must be the one of a video you've posted or you are going to? Or just something related to your Channel?
@@StreamScheme ops sorry for bad english. I was asking: if i post a video about Assassin’s creed should I make a poll about if too? Or polls and posted videos can be unrelated?
Polls aren’t available for RUclips’s who haven’t reached affiliate yet, so I don’t think #2 is very helpful for growing small channels. Good info, but not for growing from 0.
Affiliate is a twitch thing. 500 Subs is still a "New RUclipsr" which is who this video is aimed at, not just people with 0 subscribers. I'd recommend focusing on the things you can do and not what you can't. The other two tips look like they could really help your channel. After all, you're only 136 Subs away from being able to do Polls yourself.
I'm a small streamer, rn I am saving for a pc so I can make better content on my socials, but rn I'm stuck on console which restricts me, I have done and made everything on mobile, but do you have any advice for console streamers/RUclipsrs
Hi I don't understand the first tip 😔. -What you say is. It's better to make thumbnails without you face 'cause people don't know you ?, and just make it about the video you're doing ?
for a while my channel was in 20 after in 40 ish got up to 50 after a couples started to click .in 100-200-400 .is not up and down anymore .my description say when im uploading . everyone can win if you had 20-30 people standing behind u watching you play games you’d feel like that's a shit ton so stop feeling like you’re not making progress as a creator when you get 20-30 views perspective is everything oh and im working with vid iq max .sometime is okay to throw that wild card . im not there yet but thing start to click more and more every upload .maybe moving from roommate's helped focusing on my own energies
500 Subs is a small RUclipsr though? And you can use them because you're at 829 subscribers, when you only need 500? And if you couldn't use them, then why focus on the part of the video that doesn't work for you, and instead focus on the other 2/3 tips? I'm not going to make content that only works for people with 0 subscribers, sometimes advice is for everyone, sometimes you need to put a small amount of work in before you can use certain tips. I'd recommend focusing on what you can do, and less on what you can't.
I have some old content that I think could have performed better if I had put more time into the thumbnails. Do you think it’s worth taking time to change them now? I could improve 5 old thumbnails instead of making a new video. Has anyone tried this? Any advice appreciated xo
I think what I do is post different games is that true ? I’ve been on RUclips for about 6yrs now.. in total technically I completely disappeared for about 2yrs ish but now I’ve been back for a while and finally have a setup and good mic and editing program and finally enjoy it but I’m getting nowhere plz help me.
I think if you even have 10 views on you're videos you have to be grateful with what you have.Yes what he is saying is true from my understanding. But for me the one rule you have to follow is being grateful with what you are given/have.
how does this translate to someone like critikal, who's uploads are all over the place from short commentaries, to raw esports vods? Is the consistancy in his personality or does he just make up for it with his fast upload schedule, or something else?
important note... "Only RUclips acccounts with at least 1,000 subscribers can create Community posts, and have access to the Community tab in general." - straight from youtube. so half of this video doesnt apply to most people.
Not true, it’s only 500 subs required, and that’s absolutely still new RUclipsrs. You should focus on the things you can do rather than on the things you can’t do, not all information is going to be aimed at people with 0 subs, like the other 2 tips are entirely doable right now.
Lengthy comment but if you see this I’d love your feedback: The rock to the snowball metaphor intrigued me because it highlights a topic I’m a little conflicted on. I hear “guru” channels talk about being niche and cornering a specific market. Yet all of the biggest creators I’m inspired by have multiple types of content on their channel and that’s the thing that keeps me interested. Two examples being markipkier and Ludwig. Marks main content is let’s play gaming videos. Yet over the years he has amassed a library of non gaming vids and challenges and interactive choose your path stories etc Then Ludwig seems to do something new every single time he streams from beating jump king to mogul money. I guess my question is: is there really a risk of throwing a rock in front is the snowball with not “niching”? Or can your content strategy have a primary focus with some experimental flair? say I post daily gaming content but every Friday is some new and experimental type of video that allows me to learn new skills of creation while also being myself in the context of the video. -Me cooking something I hate. -Me playing rock climbing twister with my friends. -Skits that I find funny to make I mean my main focus is gaming yes but my love of this job is creation in general. And with that love I’d hope to be able to do new things without crippling myself
You’re talking about larger creators, they can do whatever they want at this point. But to start out they didn’t, they niched. Ludwig did content around smash to get his initial audience, collating with bigger established streamers. Mark did horror to get his initial audience, but didn’t really matter what since it was so long ago it was a different space. When starting out, you niche, snowball, get large enough that you can keep people for personality.
@@StreamScheme Hey! I really appreciate the response! That makes sense too. Its a crazy space when trying to figure out where you want to go. I found your channel yesterday and have been kind of binging it so I think its awesome you gave your thoughts!
So question I’m doing a kind of music/gaming channel and I was wondering what kind of things would be appealing in the thumbnail while showing my face (for music) cause I did a video that had Wilbur soot in the thumbnail and it has 2k views but then I did a music video cover of a song with my face in the thumbnail and it got 109 views what kind of approach should I take for my next music video
Well, just from that it's clear that the concept makes sense and you can see it works. Now you need to think of the next video, and why someone would find it appealing. I don't know your content so I can't give you a break down and specifics, that is something you have to learn and practice.
At the end of the day, nobody is getting the hours of their lives back no matter how well their video does, so enjoy the grind. Also the royalty free music is often better than the copyrighted stuff that earns your channel a yellow card if so much as second is picked up from your mic.

I would love it if you can give me some advice regarding
1. Should I start streaming again?
2. Are animated and beautiful looking overlays helpful for a gaming channel?
3. How can Elgato Stream Deck help me as a streamer and is it a necessity?
Thanks for all the tips you give out🙏🏽
Liking, commenting and sharing every SS vid on RUclips to help it in the algo so we get more videos like this 🔥🔥🔥
My biggest issue is building and keeping up to an upload schedule
Ayyyeee what a nice segue to the ad 🫡
Also incredible video as usual!
Obviously it is!
I've followed literally almost piece of advice since day one. Remained patient and kept working on the craft. You guys have been spot on.
Can’t wait to use community posts when I have enough subscribers! Great advice. If you use RUclips often you’ll know how prominent they are becoming
Those first 3 statements are a home run. Trying to stay motivated to make interesting content. Thank you for keeping us motivated
I really don’t find it fair that community pools are locked behind the 500 subscriber wall. But I can definitely say that RUclips shorts are a real boost to the algorithm
I was on a hot streak of views for a little while and my last 2 videos didn't do good at all, I think this is just the video I needed
RIP Eljayem! I would LOVE to use the poll feature, but these aren't even available until you have 500 subscribers. What is an alternative tip to those who have below 500 subs?
I'd say the alternative is the other two tips in the video.
Can't wait until I have access to the community tab. only reason i don't use it yet is because I can't!
Great video, as usual. So, for new YT channels, would you suggest going straight into a schedule, or putting up a few videos and then getting into a routine? And, I hope next video goes deeper into community polls and the backend of YT. TY!
Lots of guides on the backend, and specifics of polls, etc, etc on the channel!
All the YT growth videos are in a playlist as well :) hope they help!
Those 3 statements are so true. If you don't give a shit. No one else will either
As a small creator, I agree with your points! Appreciate you sharing thoughts on topics like this
Hey! Ive recently been watching a few of your videos and Im loving the advice!
Thanks Elijay, I totally agree has I haven't recorded a video since June 20th and I am wanting to but haven't been getting slot of views, this give things I can improve for my next video. I don't stick to schedule because I don't have one.
Thanks, really needed this
No fucking way I’m watching dangerously funny right now 😂😂
Honestly, starting is just super hard as it is let alone these days.
I think an important thing to note is 500 Subs is still a "New RUclipsr"
Not all advice works for every person, and we wouldn't have much to talk about if everything had to fit EVERY person hahaha but it's better to focus on the parts you can do rather than the parts you can't.
From a quick scan of the comments, most choose to focus on the part they can't hahaha
@@StreamScheme Oh absolutely agree, 500 is still new in YT terms by a long mile. You're right on the bit zeroed in lmao
Love the tips you give man. Keep up the good work. I use ur clips to help others in my discord to grow💪💪 keep the grind strong my guy
Slaps in the face are always the best advice. Thanks!
1: Yeah I agree, there's plenty of other channels doing jvlogging stuff and my thumbnail is mid as fuck and people barely care about me irl, why would the internet be different
2: Yup, tohugh I had 0 idea there was free tools. I'm gonna have to do my best to use them
3: lmao whats a schedule... but yeah I really need to schedule stuff better
I can't wait to be able to use RUclips polls, looks like an awesome thing
I just kind of make videos about a particular game, and then upload them without any rhyme or reason 🤣 I guess the more you know!
Cool video, thanks.
Just one question: poll subject must be the one of a video you've posted or you are going to? Or just something related to your Channel?
Can you rephrase the question?
@@StreamScheme ops sorry for bad english. I was asking: if i post a video about Assassin’s creed should I make a poll about if too? Or polls and posted videos can be unrelated?
people also should use shorts to there advantage but try to get viewers redirected to there long form content at the end of shorts
I just hit 55 subs just keep going do you and work hard
7:16 I also strongly disagree with that statement.
Hi I don't understand the first tip 😔.
-What you say is. It's better to make thumbnails without you face 'cause people don't know you ?, and just make it about the video you're doing ?
for a while my channel was in 20 after in 40 ish got up to 50 after a couples started to click .in 100-200-400 .is not up and down anymore .my description say when im uploading .
everyone can win if you had 20-30 people standing behind u watching you play games
you’d feel like that's a shit ton
so stop feeling like you’re not making progress as a creator when you get 20-30 views
perspective is everything oh and im working with vid iq max .sometime is okay to throw that wild card . im not there yet but thing start to click more and more every upload .maybe moving from roommate's helped focusing on my own energies
I can't use the community tab yet, but otherwise seems fair :) also if you see this i hope youre doing well
Welp. Not new info to me. I already Knew I don't matter.. Good to have that thought validated though.
I have a very important question..
What is your avocado pillow’s name? 🥑
Jeffery :)
You always make everything seem so simple. Love it !!!
Is it smart to have 2 youtube channels: One main channel that i stream on 2nd one for
gameplay from the stream and turn it into a video?
I learned something new today to help me grow! Thank you for this video!
You go on and on about community polls, a feature small RUclipsrs can’t even use. So helpful….
Came from the podcast, can't believe this was a real comment 😭
I have some old content that I think could have performed better if I had put more time into the thumbnails. Do you think it’s worth taking time to change them now? I could improve 5 old thumbnails instead of making a new video. Has anyone tried this? Any advice appreciated xo
I’d update and improve the old thumbnails even just for the extra thumbnail practice.
Thx for this 🤟🏼
I think what I do is post different games is that true ? I’ve been on RUclips for about 6yrs now.. in total technically I completely disappeared for about 2yrs ish but now I’ve been back for a while and finally have a setup and good mic and editing program and finally enjoy it but I’m getting nowhere plz help me.
Thank you. Every streamer should be using RUclips too
I think if you even have 10 views on you're videos you have to be grateful with what you have.Yes what he is saying is true from my understanding. But for me the one rule you have to follow is being grateful with what you are given/have.
how does this translate to someone like critikal, who's uploads are all over the place from short commentaries, to raw esports vods? Is the consistancy in his personality or does he just make up for it with his fast upload schedule, or something else?
He’s a giant creator who’s been around for years, he’s not someone to compare yourself too,
if your satisfaction/happiness is in the hands of other people, you will never be satisfied/feeling good
I did the snowball hits a rock (9:05) and now I don't get views. so to ppl that this its fake its not.
Me who doesnt have polls and wants it so badly and already has question written down for if I ever get to 500 subs.
Polls and Community posts WOULD be great.... if small channels actually had access to them. :) Otherwise, these are all good points.
1:32 A fellow Big A fan!
Absolutely! Marketing Mondays and Shark Tank are S Tier.
thanks for the advise
important note...
Yet over the years he has amassed a library of non gaming vids and challenges and interactive choose your path stories etc
Then Ludwig seems to do something new every single time he streams from beating jump king to mogul money.
-Skits that I find funny to make
I mean my main focus is gaming yes but my love of this job is creation in general.
How do we apply to have you review our twitch streaming setups? I'd like to be judged harshly, but with good intentions.
@@StreamScheme okay thanks man
If you don't have content strategy then you're not going to grow. Plan your content around a niche and provide solutions to a problem.
@steam scheme can you please make a video on editing software for youtubers
the first three were on the spot i aint gon' lie
At the end of the day, nobody is getting the hours of their lives back no matter how well their video does, so enjoy the grind. Also the royalty free music is often better than the copyrighted stuff that earns your channel a yellow card if so much as second is picked up from your mic.
I think you didn’t listen to the video properly, the music is safe to use if you use that service mentioned.
