- In this video my brother went to a brand new creek that we had found on google earth. As he fished this small creek he went over some tips and tricks he uses when fishing small creeks and rivers for trout. He managed to land several awesome wild rainbow trout on his fly rod before calling it a day.
I appreciate you Hardman boys putting content up for us to see. I learn a little everytime I watch you guys. Please continue with the instructional videos. Thanks!

Another great video Hardman!!!! Congrats again on 10k! It’s crazy how fast your youtube channel has grown!💯🎣💦 keep up the great work!
Thanks man! Just a year ago I hit 1,000 subs and got monetized. It is incredibly humbling to see how far the channel has come. Thanks for the support my man! Heading over to watching your video when I finish responding to the comments. Tight lines.
Hardman Fishing Adventures no problems buddy!!! Hopefully one day one of my videos will decide to really blow up! RUclips is just so tough, know for sure my next couple of videos coming up should give me a big boost! Been really wacking some big wild fish lately on buggers 😂😂😂, but so glad I was there practically almost from day one! Lol I remember that big monster brown you caught in that little dinky puddle 😭😭😂😂 boi that was ridiculous!!! You really do have quite the trout fishery over there in WV! So wish I lived closer to upstate pa! I’m about the furthest away from all the good wild trout water in PA hahaha. Going back up to Penns creek this Sunday though, hopefully can make it pay off!💯🎣💦 tight lines once again and thanks much for the support 👊 maybe this summer me and my dad can head up your way, them browns you catch in em little creeks are just nuts!
Very solid fishing! I love tips and tricks when you actualy see the results as your explaining them!! That's why you guys rock.. great video as always 👍

Another quality video you guys do it right. Keep I'm coming.
Thanks man!! It means a lot!
Great video guys! Thanks for taking us on the water during lockdown :)
You're welcome! Glad you liked the video!
Hey guys can you please do a video like this but with spinning gear I really like watching your video but I just can’t get into the fly fishing thing great job out there stay safe out there in GOD BLESS
Of course man! I have one video out that kind of goes over how I fish when I'm using spinning gear. It's the video titled "Catching Rainbow Trout With Spinners" but I'll definitely see if I can't make another one!
Keep working on the fly to buddy. I fish almost all methods but once you figure out fly fishing it’s incredibly rewarding.
@@hardmanfishing Come on now, you know as well as I that spin fishing for rainbow trout is a felony in most states. Just having a spinning rod in your car/truck within 50 feet of a trout stream is a misdemeanor in most localities ...Make a video about spin fishing for large mouth bass so James doesn't end up with a criminal record..
Awesome job. Those were some beautiful Rainbows. Great advice on reading the water. Looking forward to your more in depth look at reading the water. Tight lines, keep up the Great work.
Thanks man!! I hope to have the in depth version in the next week or so. Thanks for watching!
Nicely done man. Good fish and breakdown with the different spots and where they might be. I like that idea :) I would be interested to compare notes on this, or just in general see the way our stuff turns out. Keep it up, and tight lines!
Yeah man for sure! I'm making a video now about reading the water and using some of the general ideas you used in your video. I'll give you a shout out in the video since you gave the idea!
@@hardmanfishing Thanks buddy, I appreciate it :) Look forward to watching it. Especially from your guys perspective on these smaller streams. That's the type of water I like to fish as well, so I am always interested what people see through their view of the river. Best of luck with editing it out. Happy Easter!
All the streams you fish look like they're loaded. That fat one was big for that creek!
They're *almost* all loaded. But yeah man there could be some even bigger ones in there! Just didn't catch them that day. Thanks for watching as always. Moving on to watch your video after I finish replying to comments!
You mentioned Google Earth is your friend in finding new streams to fish. Can you expound on that so others can apply that approach to their local area?
First
Looks like unreal fishing in 2/3 ft of water. What distance have u your indicator set at from your end fly
Depends on what depth we're fishing. We want the bottom fly to be bouncing the bottom of the creek if possible. in this video it is about 3 feet above the bottom nymph. If we fish a shallower section we just tight line.
Fishing the (505) creeks come on down and fish the jemez mountain's you won't be disappointed from Brown's to natives to your rainbow trout
I think an informative walkthrough would be great. I grew up spin and bait cast fishing creeks and streams for lots of species. Only recently have I became interested in trout (going on 3 yrs now). I have great luck on live red worm/salmon egg combo on a no. 8 aberdeen hook, mostly sight fishing and bouncing around cover. My buddy and I DESTROY trout compared to what I see others catching with power bait or artificial lures. The only problem is certain parts of the river we fish are artificial only. That's why I am trying to learn more about flies and artificial lures for trout. I have tried rooster tails on a spincast to get a feel for it and have had sheisty results. I have literally watched 15 inch rainbows bolt away from a 1/16 oz rooster tail. Any advice on approach, colors, and size would be way cool. Y'all are clearly distinguished trout fisherman.
Thanks man!! I'll definitely take that into consideration. I might just make a whole series and give as many tips as possible. It could be very fun. As far as fish spooking goes that could very well be just due to fishing pressure. To avoid that I usually fish in adverse conditions (rain, high water, etc.) Thanks for watching the videos!
Hello from Russia! I’m also shooting a fishing video)
whats your spinning reel setup and fly fishing setup?
Now this is how to endure the pandemic 😁👍.....that's gotta be nice🙂
Hell yeah man! Social distancing at its finest.
Make the series man
I've already started on it! Hopefully I can have it up in the next few weeks
What length and x of a leader we’re u using
For this type of fishing we usually use 4X tippet for the most part. Sometimes we throw 5X or 3X depending on water clarity. The length also depends on water clarity but in clear water we usually use the rule of about the length of the rod we're using. So when I use a 9 foot rod I go with 8 feet of tippet or so. Especially in areas where fish spook from the fly line. I think in this video Andrew was probably using about 6 feet of tippet just because he has a shorter rod and is in tight quarters. Just something to think about.
Hardman Fishing Adventures ok thanks appreciate it
Do u ever fish around galax
I've not fished near Galax before. Anything good down there?
@@hardmanfishing yes up above there is a creek the county and the state stock 2 or 3 times a week I haven't fished it in 7 years about the first cast I made there I caught a 24 in bow u pay like 5 or 6 bucks in the parking lot but it a long stretch of creek
Tell me what are they doing You speak fish now.
I've always spoken fish. You would be surprised what you can figure out from reading the water and having a knowledge of the species you're chasing.
