I'm just starting to learn how to trout fish, but I am a catfisher. I have found that when I get a little caesars pizza, I get a few extra dips, buttery garlic flavor, dip or soak your bait in that! Works good for cat fishing
Man! I discovered you guys last Saturday and I can't stop watching! I've been fishing for 10 years now, and this is the best tutorials and educative videos I've seen. Dang man! 😂
Trying to get into this and this shit is overwhelming lol. I thought this was buy a rod and reel. Tie up a line and a hook/bait and go catch something. Now I'm doing calculus to find which spot trout travel to while also learning fish psychology to lure them into a trap wherein might be able to catch them if my fish reeling tactics are 100.
Not many people know how to do it on the cheap. It's not as complicated as these guys make it. Try some nightcrawlers, and learn how to work the pools! I've spent way more on my cameras for my channel than my gear haha
At least your doing it right, you'd be amazed how many people talk about how much they love fishing and how they've been doing it all their lives; then you go out and their putting a nightcrawler on a hook with a bobber like you would for a five year old. Not bashing it, it works. But there's so much more opportunities out there to catch something.
Keep it simple bro. Accept the information people can give you, but also understand that IT IS that simple. The first people ever fishing and catching fish probably just had a stick lol. Don’t stress it bro, just try everything and have fun with it. It’s a hobby of devotion
It’s pretty insane but simple at the same time, especially with no family or friends to teach me. There are so many knots, places, rules, and baits. Like what do I use? Where do I go if there aren’t any rivers/lakes near me? I have no clue but fishing is a great way to get outside and away from everything.
Love how you are addressing different conditions anywhere in the country. Great strategy information...I think it's the most important tool in your box when it comes to catching more fish and especially big fish.
I may have to stock up on some of those fish scents! It's like a little frosting on a cupcake! Appreciate how many video's you boys put out! Always learning a tip or trick!
Great video. Jordan is an info master. So much good knowledge. Jordan is a fast talker. Fun to see how much he can give us is a short video. Thanks, I learned a lot.
Since we're talking about 'stockers'. The fish are raised in moving water in long concrete tanks. The larger more aggressive fish will be closest to the water inlet. When planted in a small stream, their first actions are to establish the 'pecking order', the more aggressive want the upstream location. If you've watched freshly planted fish, it's common to see pairs of fish chasing one another, biting at the other's tail. A small in-line spinner cast over the school and brought back over the fish will induce a 'stay back where you belong" strike. (I fish for the table, not for 'sport'.) Uphill from Valley Falls, (Willow Creek?), Oregon. Freshly planted, just for fun. A de-barbed treble on a home made inline spinner. Materials cost for each: 39¢ in the 1990's. With a slackened line, no problem for a fish to throw the hook. Eighteen casts, 19 hookups. The only time in over twenty some years that my wife watched me fish. "Oh."
Power Eggs and Mice Tails (together) is what I use. I never thought to use real worms! I'm so going to try that when they stock this spring! Thanks and Happy Fishing!
Trying some scents this year, Sweet Corn and Garlic. I swear Jordan, you've probably forgotten more about fishing than I'll ever know, always super helpful watching your videos man 😃👍
I’m just starting, I went 2x to a river spot my friends were killing it at and I haven’t caught one yet. Granted they only caught one each last 2 times but I need to get that first one!!!
Again Double J, you have given me food for thought in this Vid...Oh! got my order from you all today and when the rain stops long enough I'll be out trying to catch those trout...I was at Lake Almanor two days ago and it rained cats and frogs...course it was my first time there, so I'll have to keep moving around to find those puppies. later
For line options I’d say braid with fluoro leader is more cost effective as braid is smallest and can hold the most line on a spool and it’s the most sensitive with least memory about 9ft leader of fluoro
I've been experimenting with different color line to see if I could get better visibility tracking my line down stream.I've found the gold 4lb work'd great on winter holdovers, Jordan have you ever had a chance to review line color choice?
got smoked yesterday by an old guy with some simple trout bait... worm and bobber and artificial wasnt cutting it too great. i swear it gets frustrating but you do have fish that "favorite" baits in some lakes. each lake is a bit different and its such a learning curve, thanks for the tips. garlic scent works better than anise in my experience.
If you can get those Berkley floating rubber Power-balls they work amazing when they are also tipped with a Berkley Trout Nibble. Fluorescent orange works best but chartreuse works as well.
Just got home here in Arizona. Warming up out there. Already shorts and t shirt weather. At this rate browns will only be active for 2 more weeks. Bass will be hitting those toppers soon. Killer Kebari and tenkara was nailing it today.
Ok my question qnd I hope to hear back from ya... Starting of Spring fishing season there always is HIGH WATER as the snow or ice thaws out. I am fishing Starting out this coming spring trying Lures for the first time such as , soft baits , salmon eggs , a few rapala lures , mice tails , pink trout worms by gulp berkley. So how do I go about successfully getting trout at the beginning of the season on April 15th 2022. Thank you Mike 😁
Had to watch this after 6 guys and myself all using different bait couldn’t catch a single trout even tho we could SEE 30 of them in the shallow pools at our lake. 12 inch rainbow trout would look at out bait for 5 hours and do nothing. Water was like 5 feet deep
@@connorfinch9943 being able to fish the middle of the lake gives you better diversity of where you're able to fish that you cant with shore fishing, you need a 2nd pole endorsement on your fishing lisence to fish with a second pole. With a second pole you can set up a pole with something like a drop shot rig with some bait that has some buoyancy and leave it alone and then have your primary pole that you're actively fishing with with something like a spinnerbaits, soft plastics, and jigs.

Hey you guys should come to Lower Bear River Reservoir near Pioneer CA. The trout thwir are great size, but very picky. Could use some good advice on caughting them. And they have huge mackinaw trout too.
This is a great question 'cause sometimes the difference between light & ultralight is a lot. I use Okuma Celilo & Leland's TCB rods for all my non-fly trout setups. All are 6'6" and longer & are 2-6lb weight. Any rod with a fast tip & good strong backbone will do just fine. I also never use any mono over 6lb for the main line, & my leader line is always 2-4lb flurocarbon. I never realized the power of trout fishing with those length & weight of rods until I actually started using them. I used to use light 5'6" falcon bucoo rods for trout, which are my main rods for river smallie fishing. My thinking was smaller fish (trout), smaller setup, right? Well, I was wrong. You need that length & fast action to cast that light lure out as far as you can. It's amazing how much farther I can cast & get the lure out to the sweet spot of the river, not to mention the sensitivity of the rod tip. I am catching way more fish now since I can actually feel & see the trout playing with the lure. There's no telling how many trout I've lost when using an improper setup. What used to take me hours to catch a limit, is now only taking me about 45 minutes. Enjoy!
if you want a real challenge.. please come to Pakistan where we have brown trout, Rainbow trout, and Snow trout...we will be more than happy to have you as our guest and fish the Himalayas, the Karakorum, and the Hindukush...No hatchery trout... the real deal is here... Only wild trout which give you a real fight...
I think maybe what he's saying is this (which I got from Berkeley Fishing): "Diameter-Fluorocarbon is about the same diameter as nylon monofilament of the same breakstrength. I believe he said 2 lb diameter 10 lb test for the braid (correct me if I'm wrong)

I think maybe what he's saying is this (which I got from Berkeley Fishing): "Diameter-Fluorocarbon is about the same diameter as nylon monofilament of the same breakstrength.
