@@BrosFOURRSpeed Subaru just got back to me and told me they were not able to create my customized 2021 because they were not producing them anymore due to the new 2022. I'll check it out, but i'm not totally convinced. Looks like Subaru will lose this customer for their failure to produce something good 2022. I'm gonna purchase a Toyota truck instead.
I think Toyota should make the Corolla GR with the same 1.6 litre three cylinder from the Yaris GR, with both the manual and the automatic. Four wheel drive for both.
@@BrosFOURRSpeed they're listed at that and you call only for them to add 5 to 10k. I kinda refuse to buy a used car at 30 k anyways. I'll give it a few more weeks amd probably just get an sti or go cheap for an accord sport
Whichever car makes the most sense for you! I don't think I could spend that much on a Type R when the competitors are AWD and that's just FWD. It's cool, but can't hang with the STI!
I just bought a Subaru WRX STI 2021 in September from the dealership and I am curious... Is it normal for the car to do a creaking nose when you steer all the way to the left or right while backing out of a parking spot or taking off in first gear. I just bought this car and it's interesting it would have a creaking noise as if the cv joints were already worn out or something when it's supposed to be a brand new car.
Why not? In a manual you can skip gears. I was at my cruising speed, no need to go into 5th just to go right into 6th. When you downshift you don't always go into consecutive gears. Beauty of a stick ;)
They omitted the intercooler sprayer this particular MY, you can see the blank button on the dash front panel. No bronze BBS wheels. I’m tempted but......I’m not committed. Maybe yes, maybe no for me.
For us who live in the real world, that's: 393Nm @ 4000rpm 1542kg 0-97km/h (0-100km/h) @ 4.5s 241km/h 60L fuel cap 6.8km/L - city 9.35km/L - highway 2.65m wheelbase 4.6m overall length 1.8m width 1.48m height

Went from a 2010 sti hatch to a bran new 2018 brz RU and currently trading my brz in for 25grand trade in while ordered a 2021 wrx sti sport tech, brz was fun but nothing compared to STI back to the turbo club !
@@BrosFOURRSpeed my car right now is a 2017 Ford Focus with the dct. It’s quick but not fast like the sti. (Non turbo) but it can go through all gears and pull real hard if done right.
2019+ rec'd some of the type RA upgrades: new ecu tune, 3rd gear revision, a more free flowing exh sys, "upgraded" pistons, revised intake, & sodium filled exh valves.
Just sold my 2012 STi hatchback - considering this, a Type R, a GR Yaris or a Veloster N DCT. Considering that since the VN PP isn't available locally in my country and I'd still have to import it, the price comes out to equal both my three other options. Any thoughts?
$42 grand?? Well I guess the Civic Type R is comparable- have you fellas reviewed the Charger RT? Idk Subies have always had great respect in the import world- Good review Mike!
The Civic Type R is also front wheel drive, so not as sporty as the Subaru! You get a lot of torque steer in that if you try to tune it for more power! We haven't reviewed the RT yet, but did the Scat Pack wide body! ruclips.net/video/6RV-dPQ0o7M/видео.html
I just found a 2017 with 48k miles for $34k! When the Civic Type R was new, dealers were marking them up to $60k which was ridiculous, but they aren't close to $60k anymore.
I’m looking at getting one of these. I currently have a stage-4 Focus ST. Wondering if I should wait till next year to get the new model. Love the wing but that looks like automatic car washes are a no go lol, which is annoying.
Yeah this would need a touches car wash for sure. But the brushes scratch up paint, so you shouldn't go in those anyways. I'm not too sure on the pricing for the new STI. But they will probably be a nice update. If you enjoy your car no harm in waiting until it's out
Just bought and drove home a 2021 sti. Managed to snag one of these new at msrp. All I can say is.. ive had about 20 cars and this car being the most fun overall
I just sold my 2017 FiST because I got nearly what I paid for it. Put it all towards a 2021 WR Blue Sti. Loving it!!!!!!!! Never run your car through an auto car wash-yikes!
I'm not sure about that, but I don't think I've seen an STI without the recaros. I didn't see the seatbelts as an option either so I think that's standard.
ruclips.net/video/VRxl2wZPjls/видео.html Heres a vid we made comparing this to the Audi S3. I think the STI rides fine. Not as comfortable as the Audi. You'd think the Golf R would be the same as the Audi tho since it's the same car underneath. But the S3 with magnetic ride is noticeable more comfortable than this. In Dynamic mode feels about the same as this.
@@BrosFOURRSpeed The R is awful, short wheelbase and super stiff, on the Canadian winter roads its horrific. I'll check out your other videos though thank you
I’ve always liked the WRX STI. Seems like a fun car. But that rear wing is a little too much! Wish they’d lower it about five inches. It just looks way too high.
Normally the 500 miles should be driven under 4k rpm. Like I did on the test drive. Then the next 500 I get a bit more aggressive. After that doesnt really matter
The Genesis Coupe was a fun car for sure. We owned two of them back in the day. This is pretty on par tho in performance stock for stock. But with mods both car can get pretty quick
Yep yep! Got mine in February. Love it. It is not the fastest car in a straight line (very driver dependent). But, the smiles in the corners and the old school split second turbo lag is wonderful. Running Cobb AP on HWG 91 map and logs out great with 93 pump. A lot more torque 3k up. ;).
@@BrosFOURRSpeed Yeah honestly for someone that wants a minor bump in power that will not strain the motor at all (as long as maintenance/solid fuel used/ non abuse) it is a no brainer. Torque gains are are huge benefit for normal driving. Cobb ots 91 or protune it stage 1.
I'm so excited to get an STi! Would you recommend it as a second car? Also I currently drive a 2014 Sport Auto Lancer, would you know if the STi feels similar to drive/handle if you've ever driven a regular Lancer before? I noticed your shifting was pretty all over the place.
@@GFine79 It doesn’t hurt syncros at all to skip gears. There is no shift logic in a manual transmission. It doesn’t have to be consecutive gears. I'm waiting for them to contact me about whether I can get one or not. I really hope I can because I do not like the 2022 model it's a horrible design and with cheap plastic all over.
I feel like production probably is about done. Not sure tho. Hopefully they get back with you soon! The 2022 looks like a Crosstrek with those flares. Not a fan either
@@BrosFOURRSpeed Subaru just got back to me and told me they were not able to create my customized 2021 because they were not producing them anymore due to the new 2022. Instead they gave me options of what's already coming to them (last ones). He told me he would reserve it for me to check it out, but it's not limited like I wanted it. I'll check it out, but i'm not totally convinced. Looks like Subaru will lose this customer for their failure to produce something good 2022. I'm gonna purchase a Toyota truck instead.
Would you consider it as a family car? Obviously SUV are ideal but I like fast cars.
This could be a great option for a sedan if you want a sport car! Not the biggest thing out there. But still useful
The Toyota Yaris GR is a four wheel drive hot hatch. Toyota really should bring it to the United States.
This is manual only.
I've seen a few of the European RUclipsr's buying that car! Seems like a cool little hot hatch for sure. We have the Corolla hatchback but no manual!
I think Toyota should make the Corolla GR with the same 1.6 litre three cylinder from the Yaris GR, with both the manual and the automatic. Four wheel drive for both.
It would be interesting to see if the US market gets any of those!
The more trouble I have finding a Type R at MSRP the more tempting and STI gets.
I've seen a good amount of Type R's in the $30k range!
@@BrosFOURRSpeed agreed. Couldn’t see myself paying that much for a Honda.
@@JM00914 I'm sure it's good, but not performance oriented really.
Hmm, could be that. Or maybe it's just normal sound since parts have to move. Could have dirt in there too
Why are you shifting from 4th to 6th
Why not? In a manual you can skip gears. I was at my cruising speed, no need to go into 5th just to go right into 6th. When you downshift you don't always go into consecutive gears. Beauty of a stick ;)
I thought those recarros weren’t optional but standard in the STi Ltd.?
They were around $4k I think on the window sticker so they were optional in this model. This wasn't a limited so maybe that's why.
@@BrosFOURRSpeed ah ok, no sunroof then. Yes, it is a option in that trim.
They omitted the intercooler sprayer this particular MY, you can see the blank button on the dash front panel. No bronze BBS wheels. I’m tempted but......I’m not committed. Maybe yes, maybe no for me.
@@johnnykwon8173 Yea it was missing a few things.
@@johnnykwon8173 Yea the bronze wheels really change the look in a good way!
That is nice.God. I think it's 27.01 in it.

I will work hard to buy this car
Awesome! STI is a fun car!
For us who live in the real world, that's:
393Nm @ 4000rpm
1542kg
0-97km/h (0-100km/h) @ 4.5s
241km/h
60L fuel cap
6.8km/L - city
9.35km/L - highway
2.65m wheelbase
4.6m overall length
1.8m width
1.48m height
Real world? lol. The US is kinda the leader in the world and we use the figures I stated ;)
Nothing wrong with being different. Thanks for the conversions
The “real world” can’t afford an STi so why does it matter anyway? 😂
Considering picking one of these up until the Cybertruck is ready? How is the resale on lightly used/stock ones?
These seem to hold value very well!
Went from a 2010 sti hatch to a bran new 2018 brz RU and currently trading my brz in for 25grand trade in while ordered a 2021 wrx sti sport tech, brz was fun but nothing compared to STI back to the turbo club !
Oh wow! Yeah that's a big jump from the BRZ back to the STI! It's definitely a fun sedan!!
Does this model still have the EJ Engine?
I'm not familiar enough with Subaru engines to know that specific
They should make a dct version of the Sti
Yeah that'd be cool! I know they do a CVT for the WRX. Can't imagine how boring that would be to drive lol. But a DCT would be great!
@@BrosFOURRSpeed my car right now is a 2017 Ford Focus with the dct. It’s quick but not fast like the sti. (Non turbo) but it can go through all gears and pull real hard if done right.
22 mpg on the high way wow that terrible very few people will buy that in the uk....
Yeah it's not the best for a 4 cylinder car. But this car is about performance not mpg lol
Got my 2020 STI in January. I love mine i modified it a little quickly haha.
That's awesome! These are really fun cars!
Brilliant review - We want to get our hands on one!
Thanks! The 2021 STI is a great car for sure. You'll enjoy checking one out
Does this year model have a type RA or s209 engine?
I'm not too sure. Some Subaru forums can probably help you with that
2019+ rec'd some of the type RA upgrades: new ecu tune, 3rd gear revision, a more free flowing exh sys, "upgraded" pistons, revised intake, & sodium filled exh valves.
Just sold my 2012 STi hatchback - considering this, a Type R, a GR Yaris or a Veloster N DCT.
Considering that since the VN PP isn't available locally in my country and I'd still have to import it, the price comes out to equal both my three other options. Any thoughts?
Type R is a great car! I'd go for that. It's a step above the Yaris and Veloster for sure. And no torque steer!
So does the Sti only come in manual?
I believe so! The WRX has an automatic version. But I can't see why someone would want that. kills the fun I think
$42 grand?? Well I guess the Civic Type R is comparable- have you fellas reviewed the Charger RT? Idk Subies have always had great respect in the import world- Good review Mike!
You ain’t getting a type r for less then 60k
@@SaceedAbul you must be shopping in Dubai cause in Chicago they're $39k $43k topps
Yeah they aren't even close to $60k, new dealers were marking them up which was crazy to see!

Oh yeah! Love this blue on the STI!
Do you have to get the Recaro seats to get the red seatbelts?
I'm not sure about that, but I don't think I've seen an STI without the recaros. I didn't see the seatbelts as an option either so I think that's standard.
no
Is there any subtle difference between the 2020 and 2021 STI?
Not that I saw! I reviewed a 2020 as well and they seem very similar!

Heres a vid we made comparing this to the Audi S3.
I'll check out your other videos though thank you
Yeah I've never really been in one aside for a very old one. Not sure too much about it vs the S3
Love everything but the rims
Yeah they aren't anything too special looking. A lot of people put aftermarket wheels on these anyways
I thought I hated the wheels too until I saw them in person. They look mean af
I’ve always liked the WRX STI. Seems like a fun car. But that rear wing is a little too much! Wish they’d lower it about five inches. It just looks way too high.
I've always like them too! Maybe a few inches lower, but it's high enough for visibility out of the rear view mirror which is nice!
dude you forgot the water spray for the intercooler?
The STI has a feature like that stock?
What engine break in period ?
Normally the 500 miles should be driven under 4k rpm. Like I did on the test drive. Then the next 500 I get a bit more aggressive. After that doesnt really matter
Damn. Wish I had and could afford a STi. Definitely the superior car vs the wrx.
It's a lot more fun I think than the WRX, my friend just bought one with 30k miles on it for a decent price! That video will be coming soon!
I think I'll buy it..
Thank you!
Nice! Can't go wrong with the STI! Fantastic sportscar!
Ford focus rs or sti?
STI. Focus has a bouncy suspension and feels way slower then the STI
Can’t beat my genesis coupe
The Genesis Coupe was a fun car for sure. We owned two of them back in the day. This is pretty on par tho in performance stock for stock. But with mods both car can get pretty quick
You’re soooo cool
does it have adaptive cruise control, lane assist, blind spot detection, or any of those other features a lot of cars have standard now?
the sti top speed is 175 pretty sure

It sure is! Can't go wrong with the Subaru blue!
Yep yep! Got mine in February. Love it. It is not the fastest car in a straight line (very driver dependent). But, the smiles in the corners and the old school split second turbo lag is wonderful. Running Cobb AP on HWG 91 map and logs out great with 93 pump. A lot more torque 3k up. ;).
Cool! These cars handle really well and are definitely a ton of fun in the turns!
I bet tuned it's even better!
@@BrosFOURRSpeed
Yeah honestly for someone that wants a minor bump in power that will not strain the motor at all (as long as maintenance/solid fuel used/ non abuse) it is a no brainer. Torque gains are are huge benefit for normal driving. Cobb ots 91 or protune it stage 1.
@@BrosFOURRSpeed
Plus... Cobb AP gives you launch control and flat foot shift. Huge! 💪🏻🏁👊🏻
Thats a great feature!
Thats a great enhancement for sure then! Going too crazy with mods makes these very unreliable. So a simple tune sounds pretty good!
They really need to finally overhaul the STI.
Yep but as soon as they do everyone will complain and want this gen back.
@@ianholmquist8492 Then they should just go buy a used one, they're everywhere.
I could see that! I believe 2022 has some changes coming so we'll see!
Haha yeah, you can't win with what people want! A new design would probably look to modern for what the buyers of a Subaru want maybe!
That's a good point too! Maybe we'll see some changes!
I'm so excited to get an STi! Would you recommend it as a second car? Also I currently drive a 2014 Sport Auto Lancer, would you know if the STi feels similar to drive/handle if you've ever driven a regular Lancer before? Can't really test drive a WRX/STi until I get on my full licence which is in about 2 years, laws are strict here in Australia, NSW. Awesome review anyways, keep it up!
The WRX is a fun car for sure, as a second car, that's up to you if you can afford that and want two vehicles! They are going to handle completely different! @@BrosFOURRSpeed couldn't agree any more. Just turned the big 5-0! Rewarded myself after many years of hard work & saving to buy a 2021 Sti on my bday. Soooo happy
Why did you keep shifting from 4th to 6th?
Not really a need to use 5th gear since I'm not going that fast. Positive side of a manual is the ability to skip gears when needed
Just getting up to speed so once I'm cruising don't need to shift to 5th and then to 6th. You can skip gears in a manual.
@@BrosFOURRSpeed just because you can doesn't mean you should. Especially in a new vehicle. Good way to wear out the syncros. You can also shift without using the clutch, but that doesn't mean you should do it. You responded like you think I don't know anything about manuals. I noticed your shifting was pretty all over the place.
@@BrosFOURRSpeed 6th gear is od, and you were not going that fast for that long so it is doubtful that you even needed to bang it into 6th.
@@GFine79 It doesn’t hurt syncros at all to skip gears. There is no shift logic in a manual transmission. It doesn’t have to be consecutive gears. Why do you think a lot of new cars come with the shift lock out feature? The C7 corvette and many other newer manual cars lock you out of 2nd and you’ll go from 1st to 4th at slow speeds.
