Lack of Physicality and athleticism are 2 huge reasons why we keep getting slapped. United are exposed at home because they can't sit in a compact unit and hit on the break, so when they are more expansive at old Trafford is where they have problems home teams have to take the initiative and force their game on the visitors that's when united come unstuck. Not a United fan myself but starting following the club after they got Amorim as a manager so its very easy for me the see things clearer with no bias whatsoever.
I've been saying United has a terrible group of players for years now, not only they're not athletically ready for this league but also mentally. They were hired to play a super defensive style and win (sometimes) by counter-attacks. Amorim is trying to push the team in a another direction but he will fail with this team and the board is not helping him, there are talks about pushing some of these terrible players these overpaid players out on loan without bringing in reinforcements right now to ease the transition is ludicrous!
From what i've seen United got a new board but nothing really changed for the better did it?

Why would the players want to play when the club is being depleted year on year and is in utter chaos eroding all the values that made it man united a local club with pride - manager merry go round for several year, firing of all the staff, cancelling Christmas parties, removing the former players 40k annual payment to support former player families.
This team is capable of a top 6 finish i don't doubt that, they are several world class or former world class players.
We are potentially seeing another man city of the late 90s, is it league 2 for united in not too long?

    "I feel sorry for Amorim"
I don't he knew the task he was taking on, he was given an ultimatum from the circus know as Manchester united as you can have the job now or never. He should have possibly not accepted the job. Trying to turn a club around in it's current state using a formation which lets face it is pretty much alien to the current players without having a pre season and transfer window was unfeasible. To make the changes he is trying to make mid season is ridiculous he should know that and even the idiots running Utd currently should know that. He might be a decent manager but playing 5-4-1 which let's not kid ourselves that is pretty much what is happening with how deep the team are playing is not what anyone wants to see of a Manchester United team. Stats show no team as won the Premier league playing 5 at the back. Why would you feel sorry for Amorim it was his choice nobody forced him to take job and he's getting paid handsomely. It's the supporters who you should be feeling sorry for.

Why, just why, can't United have a real transitional period? This season is a write off, we're still in cups but its a few games out of the season, the league is pointless. Id rather accept the losing this season, than see Amorim revert to a 4-2-3-1 relying on individual moments which is what these players want and have only wanted for years. Why does Amorim have to change his system for these players? As a United fan, I want the system, I do not want these players at all. Its not like Ten Hag had a style of play or system that looked any better, or was any more successful this season. Amorim's football actually keeps possession, in most games it does play higher up the pitch, and if its done right with the right playing staff it can win titles.

The 5 at the back only works when you have technical wing backs that suite the system and right now thats showing. There's a lot more issues than this but I am not for one second saying Amorim needs to ditch the system because if anything he needs to continue the system to prove a point that these players just aren't good enough and gives him justification to get rid of whoever he wants and replace them with players that are capable and more suited to play in this system.

Agree with a lot of your points but the criticism of Hoijland shows a lack of knowledge, there is zero service given to him yet he has one of the best conversion rates in the Pl. Since his signing, he faces the same challenges that also affected other top class strikers such as Ronaldo and Cavani yet receives even more criticism despite him being young and still developing

No, he needs to implement his system that wins titles. These players have had it too easy, expecting managers to build their team around them, its the same reason United have lived with a 4-2-3-1 for about a decade now, despite having no real success. As a United fan, this season is a write off already, I dont really care if we lose the majority of games until may, as long as Amorim keeps trying this system, finding who fits it and who doesnt. Why would he change his style of football that won titles, topped the champions league path when he was in charge of sporting this season, a system that battered Man City, because these LOSING set of players dont want it. They have to adapt or leave

Cant always blame it on the players the manager thought he could come here with his team wave his magic wand and change it all . That ´s on him
ps this squad outplayed City in the cup final and made us all so proud so no excuses about the players blablabæa as manger you have to get the best out of them players by being adaptable . Ask ten hag he tried his system didnt work as it takes many years to make the entire squad your own and to be able to play your system ,It doent go faster by being stubborn and losing most games .Patience is something we United fans dont have and that is the biggest problem .

there's no point continuing to rehash the mistakes of the past at this point Utd need to accept that they are where they are. Realistically that means the league season is a bit of a write off now, Utd aren't realistically going to be relegated and top half of the table is also a bit of a stretch- they should use the league games as a sort of beta test for the new system. If they can get to even a 50% win rate that would be an improvement. They should then focus on being more practical and pragmatic in the cups and Europa League to try and win or progress as far as possible in those as that's the only realistic chance they have of salvaging something respectable from this season now.

To say Ineos are just glaziers is idiotic, the glaziers don't care about the state of their cash cow. Look at the stadium, all the ridiculous signings we're under their neglectful oversight, the ridiculous financial strain previous management led to them selling part to Ineos before bankruptcy occurred.
The biggest mistake they made was not to come in and rip everything up straight away like Chelsea. I personally think this was ironically a cost saving exercise to what could be selvaged.

I don't think there's much Amorim can achieve with these players. They've been showing (some of them for nearly a decade) that they can't be consistent, yet every time they make a mistake, their apologists come out en masse to point to the time when they were good for a while. That's not enough and you're spot on. With these archetypes in the squad, there will always be a ceiling. When the squad is littered with them, its an infection that eventually spreads to other players. You see these lads come in, look great then over time, the errors start to creep in. INEOS imo need to make a list of every player that's made a mistake leading to a goal more than twice since they arrived. The same with any forward that's missed a handful of great chances that they've not gone on to redeem in the same game. Once they have that list, punt the lot of them to whatever club will take them cos that's their level.

Not saying anybody did a great job there and amorim does seem to have the right mind but their team does seem better then they perform. I mean you could have a midfield 3 of ugarte, fernandes and mainoo, a defense with de ligt, yoro, dalot, shaw and a front three with rashford, diallo and hojlund with garnacho coming off of the bench. I know it's not the formation they play but that's just some names. That's not a bad team imo. You can say dalot is crap but he's been a portuguese starter for years now, a lot of times ahead of somebody like cancelo which does prove there is some quality there.

The players only get up for single important games such as derbies, knock-offs, trophies and much touted games against bitter rivals. The reward is immediate. But for a regular, weekly fixture, they don't put out their absolute best. It's just another game where there is no immediate reward and regardless if you win or lose, you'll play again next week. The long-term goal of finishing at or near the top of the table seems vague, too hard, too laborious. My take on it anyway.
