Yes. And klopp could have told you that as well. Thing is, Liverpool needs better goal scoring threat from headers. That’s why gakpo was in the middle. As a Liverpool fan, I think the midfield is the more important point as the current midfield both individually and collectively I think are better than what Klopp had. Gavenberg, Macca and Jones/Szobo are the ultimate ball controlling / passing / pressing / tackling midfield I've seen. They can all create goal scoring chances. And with the control, the team has the ability to control the pace of the game without having to go for max chaos all the time.
It reminds me of Klopp when we lose the ball, but De Zerbi in possession. On a side note, Alexis Mac Alister reminds me of the legendary Xavi, his mix of intricate one touch passing and always being one step ahead, and killer balls in behind, his work rate without the ball, from anchoring the midfield to no.10 or making late runs in the box, he’s brilliant

Thank you for saying that about Nunez his work rate and energy is what you need to win titles it’s not about taking chances it’s about passion and energy
Passion and energy are important and we love Nunez for it, but he is a striker, his main role is to score and take chances but unfortunately he isn't clinical enough and doesn't yet have the all round game and sad to say brain's to do what the likes of Jota, Luis and Mo do if they are in his position which is to drop now and again to bring out a defender which is why our minds can make runs beyond. Love him but it's just not working for him with us.
He had passion and workrate last season and didn't work in the end, among other reasons sure, but apart from the double against newcastle, nunez costed us many games. I love the guy, but after 2 and a half seasons you start to feel it's simply not meant to be.
Rabid dogs have passion and energy. Nunez actively harms us with his wastefulness, he's a net negative, goal allergic, bent foot, undisciplined liability. Sell him to Atletico or Millwall.
at the start of the season I genuinely said we would win the league, what klopp said made me believe and Arne's appointment gave me confidence. The squad was so strong and pre season looked solid.
@ exactly! There wasn’t even a transition, we just played with more composure, which suited theses players better than going crazy under klopp, which is no disrespect to klopp because if klopp stayed he needed a few more klopp players to compete.
@thomaslawrence4400 and how everyone was mocking us for not signing any players did not make sense cause our squad depth was already there, we were just very unlucky with the injuries last season. Klopp knew his time was done and the team needed someone with a fresh mind. What a Genius Klopp was and his imprint still shining thru and I can’t wait to see Slots achievement. I haven’t been THIS excited for years, our team is injuries away from perfection.
@@seynabdahir4156 yeah exactly!! I would have agreed with squad depth argument if we still had Klopp because of how physically draining his football was but under slot how calm it is the balance the team has is perfect. We can genuinely go all the way in every competition is so exciting
FSG Liverpool could have bought Gravenberch for £15m in 2022. But, they pretended to want Tchouameni and no one else. But, they scraped the bottom of the barrel and settled on Arthur. 🤣🤣🤣
@@gaming_by_theoneandonlymg It's not a dig. It's the truth. And it's funny because FSG keep trying to be cheap and failing. How do you go from *allegedly* trying to sign one of the hottest young midfielders to actually signing a Barcelona and Juventus reject? Wouldn't a player being rejected twice be a red flag?
Tbf Our defence when konate and van dijk were both fit was incredible. Think it will be over when konate gets back and if he stays fit. Was our best cb before he got injured.
Rory, the biggest change isn't the attack, it's the midfield. Wijnaldum was a workhorse, Henderson too, Milner too. Not a whole lot of control. Wijnaldum was good at shielding the ball, but he didn't have the ball progression that Mac do. Macca and Dom and Gravenberch work hard too, but their skillset is completely different, and Slot utilizes it better. We have so much more control in the midfield now, and that makes the defense look better and the attack look better.
Never saw this. As matter of fact slot was my third choice manager that I would prefer that time. And when slot came I expected us to challenge for top 4 spot. Glad that I was wrong and glad slot is our coach .
Damn I really enjoyed that.... Deep down I'm sure you hate LFC or despise us mildly but did really well putting that together - kudos good sir! Your ability to be objective and fair is a testament you can't pay to many bias football fans that exist today! But at least you get to enjoy the beautiful game for what it is even when your team isn't doing as well as you'd like
Having seen Slot’s calm demeanour on the touchline and his assured, thoughtful comments after and before games, I think I speak for the whole of the UK when I say we should sack Starmer and make him PM!
I respect Rory for making this vid. I remember Klopp said one of the main reasons why he chose to leave when he did, was because he felt the team were ahead of where he thought they'd be and felt comfortable the club was in a great place. It's only right Klopp gets a lot of praise for the way he left the club, especially when you consider what the club was before he came 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Notice how the only players you couldn't name off the top of your head having played in the title winning Liverpool season are young players who have played for the academy and they haven't even reached their prime yet 🤣
Without doubt Rory is fast becoming my favourite RUclips football creator. The way he puts his bias aside & gives a rival team their just flowers is refreshing. Salute 🫡 Mr Jennings. YNWA!!!
I think it is not just the frontline, it is also the midfield that is a huge change. Liverpool now have a potential world class midfield that profresses the ball forward. Earlier, Liverpool had one too many draws against low block teams which was the cause of dropping points.
It’s not just the front line, our front line has always been good but right now they are on a confidence high. Although the defence hasn’t ’changed’ our patience approach has put less pressure on the back line. But the midfield is the biggest improvement. Having a 6 who can link defence to attack so smoothly is key to our success this year.
Funnily enough, I don't want MU to get relegated. The biggest match in the world would be gone . BIG loss for the prem and the fans , neutral and their own .
Would be great if Man UTD get relegated and if it was fair then City too would get relegated if found guilty of 115 charges … but we all know it’ll be a slap on the wrist.
If we win the league this season I would love for Klopp to be on the bus during the parade. Slot deserves the praise and credit that he is getting but Klopp’s contribution must also be acknowledged.
Wow, didn't understand all the chelsea comments but i now figure Rory is a chelsea fan. First time seeing this youtuber. Good on you for this take. Still one game at a time though. Give me a clear double digit game with games even and i have no doubt it's over. I'm about 75-80% positive we got this
Jurgen will always be a legend but when he was feeling too tired and didn't want to be a manager anymore he carried on to make sure Liverpool were in a good position when he left and for that all Liverpool fans are eternally grateful.
I like how you big upped Luis Diaz man has been great. Other highly underrated Liverpool players that you haven't mentioned have been BOSS this season like Gakpo, Mac Alister, and Szobo. Bradley and Kelleher everytime they had a chance to play in the squad they have done so with brilliance. Mac Alister has been a silent magician playing in that defensive midfield role, keep in mind Mac Alister's natural position is more of an attacking midfielder so seeing him do well in that deeper defensive role has been a pleasure to watch. Especially since in that world cup final against France he played a much more attacking role and had the ball glued to his boots one of my motm that world cup final.
The only change to the team i have noticed during Slots is as follow: During the Klopp era, we play through the wings with crosses but now, we play through the midfield and also the wings if need be. It was also very easy to slice through us during Klopp era because the midfield was very light.
i read a breakdown a couple years ago, the best attack wins the the league more often than the best defense. In all instances both attack and defense were good but getting the attack in order was slightly more important.
They just look settled this season. Last season they did well to hang on until the last month having a shed load of injuries. The Diaz dad kidnapp disruption, the Afcon disruption then salah coming back injured missing another month, the Klopp leaving disruption etc. Wasn't a settled season. This season yes still been a lot of injuries but coped a lot better & everyone looks happy......all this with the 3 star players contract situations.
When Klopp announced he was leaving I had 2 choices as the next manager to take over. Arne Slot or Marco Rose, both played pretty much the same system and tactics as Jurgen. People laughed, they're not laughing anymore. At the start of the season pundits were asking who's this Slot bloke? He doesn't know the Premier League, what's he done? What's he won? Blah blah blah. Everyone predicted we wouldn't make the Top 4, that City would run away with it, that United would take our Champions League place, that Arsenal were too good, blah blah blah. The only comparison I can make is Bob Paisley taking over from Shankly, this is a carbon copy of greatness.
I was devastated when Klopp left, believing top 4 may even be a struggle. How everyone at LFC have handled the change has been incredible. It makes an even bigger mockery of United and their abysmal administration too, which is the cherry on top 😂.
One major thing i must disagree with. When it comes to league titles we cannot dismiss the number of incorrect, unjust calls that we have received from the refs and the very few, if any, City have had gone against them. They have gotten numerous points they didn't deserve. The same can't be said for us. The calls have not balanced out over the season at all
As a Dutchie, I knew how good Slot was, but he's new at Liverpool. I predicted top 3 at the beginning of the season. He makes players even better than they already are. That's what he's famous for in my country l. We've seen it happen this first half of the season. Salah is a great example. But I never thougt he could this with Liverpool so soon!
You forgot about Cody. He's playing very well now. We saw glimpses of his talent. Now the consistency is there ... Also much respect for calling Salah by his full name. For some reason 3 syllables is too much for most English people.
As much as I don't want to take anything away from Slot, Jurgen deffo deserves maximum respect for the position he left the team/squad/club. What a time to be a red!!! YNWA 😍
Great content Rory but two mistakes you made: 1. The defence. Yes same back 5 (inc Gomez) but it’s the structure and cover in the midfield and forward positions that is making Liverpool more defensively solid 2. You forgot Cody Gakpo who has almost locked down left wing despite Diaz’s brilliance
Klopp Build 2.0 has insane straight line speed and nought to sixty acceleration. But the tune up by Slot Machine Works gave it perfect handling and improved reliability. With some slick pitstop strategy to win the season and not just the weekend races
I love the way you love my team mate and i hope you're secretly a fan now only when we play Chelsea you might wanna clap for your team but the rest of the time i think you're with us now 💪💪💪😂 Happy new year and yet another great vid 👍
It’s pretty simple, Jurgen created a team of professionals, they respect each other, the fans and the owners. It only works with a truly integrated team.
Im a liverpool fan and tbh i was hoping we would get top 4 and have a decent run in europe i thought we would fall off after klopp as most of the world did but klopp left an incredible team and im so gratful he was our manager and made this club great again but under slot we are just diffrent for the first time in a long time if ever when we go behind i dont panick i no slot will make the rite decisions from the touch line i dont think this season is over by a long stretch but if we can keep even 60 ir 70 percent of the form we have showen we will win the title YNWA❤
Sorry lad but I think you’re wrong, it’s been the midfield not the forwards or defence. That’s the reason we haven’t won the league since because the midfield aged an then it was finding the right mix for the new one. An now that’s working it helps the defence an forward run smoother
Without a doubt Liverpool’s best front 3 is Gakpo, Diaz and Salah with Diaz as the false 9. That front 3 is miles better than the current Arsenal 3 player for player. Liverpools players up top are playing so fluidly together and combing brilliantly with either Jones or Szobo which makes them really difficult to stop going forward.
Its not the forward line. The biggest difference is the attacking creativity through the middle.. Klopps team ONLY created down the flanks. The GOALS AND ASSISTS of Klopps midfield was practically non existent. All they did was win the ball and pass the ball from one wing to the other.. Which is why they ran out of ideas when facing a low block. This team has creativity through the middle and the flanks. Its a massive upgrade.
Klopp told us to change from doubters to believers. A portion of our fan base went back to doubting as soon as Klopp walked out, especially the youtubers, pundits and many that engage in commenting. I remember having a conversation about this with my wife. It was quite baffling, especially after seeing how good Liverpool 2.0 was last season. However, I suspect there was a silent majority who had a feeling we would be challenging for the title. The points gap is more due to the rivals, especially City, dropping points which few could have predicted.
Rory, believe me or don't (I've got the receipts) I backed Liverpool at 7/1 to win the league and did them at 14/1 to win the European Cup, both before a ball was kicked and just recently did Salah at 5/1 to get the Balon Dor* I'm only gutted i didn't string the 3 together, happy new year
There is a difference between “the defense” and “defending”. The names of the back 4 might be the same, but that does not say anything about how well the team defends. In the 90+ seasons Liverpool were often not as heavy metal in the league as people suggest. They were actually quite a few boring wins based on defending well as a team, a lot of control, not taking too many risks and scoring one or two at the other end. In recent years they have gone back toebind chaotic all the time and have completely exposed their central defenders, and that just does not help you win titles.
The reason we haven’t won the league in 5 years isn’t because of the attack, it’s because of the midfield and the fact city exist. We should’ve won the league in 21/22 but city got 93 points so what can u do? then the other years we weren’t in 85 points+ we had a crap midfield in terms of legs like henderson, milner etc couldn’t run as much as they could in previous years, as soon as we got a new midfield last summer we’ve competed since
I certainly didnt expect this, but looking back, we nearly won quad in 22, and last season the Q word was there too, although a lightweight quad, but we burnt out. Now Arne is here, and under him we conserve energy during games Arne feels we can conserve energy in, only to EXPLODE with energy in high stakes games( City and Madrid) Arne is key here. I dont thik we'll burn out this season. Or I hope we wont anyway. 😂

I knew we would win this season watching how we played during pre season. With so much ease and flow, I was sold.
3 reasons really, klopps conditioning, salahs brilliance and slots tactical tweaks.
Thanks for the compliments , coming from a Chelsea fan. I could not agree more. Happy New Year Rory.
Gravenberch has been a revelation, has turned in to a 80-100 mil player in half a season based on rice, enzo and caicedo prices
FSG Liverpool could have bought Gravenberch for £15m in 2022. But, they pretended to want Tchouameni and no one else. But, they scraped the bottom of the barrel and settled on Arthur. 🤣🤣🤣
@ a loan that didn’t work out is your best dig lol
@@cjewe1zwe will still go for Tchouameni if he wants to come to be honest
@@gaming_by_theoneandonlymg It's not a dig. It's the truth. And it's funny because FSG keep trying to be cheap and failing. How do you go from *allegedly* trying to sign one of the hottest young midfielders to actually signing a Barcelona and Juventus reject? Wouldn't a player being rejected twice be a red flag?
@@DarthVader-j2i It would have to be another "opportunistic" signing, which means FSG would have to wait for Madrid to develop financial problems.
Great take on what Klopp said. He may not have definitively said it but i get it. Gonna share this with my bros. Well done 👏
Talking so much about Liverpool attack without mentioning Gakpo once
Very good analysis bro
Tbf Our defence when konate and van dijk were both fit was incredible. Think it will be over when konate gets back and if he stays fit. Was our best cb before he got injured.
Rory, the biggest change isn't the attack, it's the midfield. Wijnaldum was a workhorse, Henderson too, Milner too. Not a whole lot of control. Wijnaldum was good at shielding the ball, but he didn't have the ball progression that Mac do. Macca and Dom and Gravenberch work hard too, but their skillset is completely different, and Slot utilizes it better. We have so much more control in the midfield now, and that makes the defense look better and the attack look better.
dont forget Alexis Mcallister! fantastic work rate. Imo the best defensiv midfielder in PL. YNWA and a happy new year!
Never saw this. As matter of fact slot was my third choice manager that I would prefer that time. And when slot came I expected us to challenge for top 4 spot. Glad that I was wrong and glad slot is our coach .
Hi Rory. Liverpool fan here. We also have Cody Gakpo
I came here for the Ipswich vs Chelsea's game review and reaction. Where is it ? 😅😂
Love your passionate take on all football......
didnt expect us to be THIS good so quick, we have a defensive structure and we are so calm and composed. Arne Slot the top man
Rory since you asked so politely I subscribed to your channel
Been waiting for this one Rory, thanks yipeeee
I respect Rory for making this vid. I remember Klopp said one of the main reasons why he chose to leave when he did, was because he felt the team were ahead of where he thought they'd be and felt comfortable the club was in a great place. It's only right Klopp gets a lot of praise for the way he left the club, especially when you consider what the club was before he came 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Notice how the only players you couldn't name off the top of your head having played in the title winning Liverpool season are young players who have played for the academy and they haven't even reached their prime yet 🤣
Great point about Mane btw. Was as good as Salah for a few of those Klopp years
I remember when he slapped that outside of the boot left footed banger against citeh
@@JPayne95The Watford backheel is my personal favourite. 🤤
Rory, at least he's honest and fair. Gotta give him credit for that.
You are so right with your analysis
Where that ipswich video bro
Liverpool win the league and Manchester United get relegated?
And City get slapped with the 115? 🎉🎉🎉
Won’t happen never has the Slot era is now in effect
@ Yeah. Would be nice though.
Wow, didn't understand all the chelsea comments but i now figure Rory is a chelsea fan. First time seeing this youtuber. Good on you for this take. Still one game at a time though. Give me a clear double digit game with games even and i have no doubt it's over. I'm about 75-80% positive we got this
Slot is a master tactician. They way he sees the play on the pitch and his adjustments have been top notch.
I genuinely, genuinely believe that Rory is the best football guy online. Fair, intelligent and always interesting. Proper stuff.
As an LFC fan - Love your content Rory but was waiting for your video on Chelsea.
Barry Glendenning is the one guy who predicted a Liverpool title win. Kudos!
Rory you are spot on, great analysis
Glad to see yet another Liverpool themed video from you :)
Excellent work Rory, love it...
i read a breakdown a couple years ago, the best attack wins the the league more often than the best defense.
Dear Rory,
Another delictable medley of football analysis. Thanks. Zambia.
I was devastated when Klopp left, believing top 4 may even be a struggle. How everyone at LFC have handled the change
has been incredible.
The calls have not balanced out over the season at all
Love your analysis it's way up the skies thanks bra and happy new year
Rory definitely wishes he was a Liverpool fan 😂
As a Dutchie, I knew how good Slot was, but he's new at Liverpool. I predicted top 3 at the beginning of the season. He makes players even better than they already are. That's what he's famous for in my country l. We've seen it happen this first half of the season. Salah is a great example. But I never thougt he could this with Liverpool so soon!
Its not the attackers, its the balance and the more controlled approach
You forgot about Cody. He's playing very well now. We saw glimpses of his talent. Now the consistency is there ... Also much respect for calling Salah by his full name. For some reason 3 syllables is too much for most English people.
As much as I don't want to take anything away from Slot, Jurgen deffo deserves maximum respect for the position he left the team/squad/club. What a time to be a red!!! YNWA 😍
Great content Rory but two mistakes you made:
1. The defence. Yes same back 5 (inc Gomez) but it’s the structure and cover in the midfield and forward positions that is making Liverpool more defensively solid
2. You forgot Cody Gakpo who has almost locked down left wing despite Diaz’s brilliance
Quickly becoming one of my goto anylists, defo up there with Alice as one of the best Liverpool youtubers 😊
Simplicity, continuity, consistency and hard work
Klopp Build 2.0 has insane straight line speed and nought to sixty acceleration.
The brilliance of Slot not trying to reinvent the wheel.
I was happy noone was talking about us but Michael Edwards came back and that is why I was confident we were serious title contenders
Ehm, ever since he came we bought only chiesa. He didn't rebuild the midfield or the forward line
After the transfer window i was saying id be happy with slot getting top 4 and a cup in his first season😅
Beat Tottenham and you're a happy boy so 😂
@youngdolo8 don't be jealous
@@cody_gakpo10 I'm a Liverpool fan you nutter
Fabulous analysis
Just clicked subscribe always listen to your takes and dont know how i wasnt subscribed already!!
diogo jota is world class. been saying it for 5 years. Gem of a player.
Sorry lad but I think you’re wrong, it’s been the midfield not the forwards or defence. That’s the reason we haven’t won the league since because the midfield aged an then it was finding the right mix for the new one. An now that’s working it helps the defence an forward run smoother
This dude is good !!!! Subscribed ✅
Thank you Jürgen .. thank you so so much. Love 💕
The meme of changing 4 results to win 3 league and 3 champ leagues isn’t just for bants. It shows how amazing they were.
Love this video man keep them coming ❤😂
Without a doubt Liverpool’s best front 3 is Gakpo, Diaz and Salah with Diaz as the false 9. That front 3 is miles better than the current Arsenal 3 player for player. Liverpools players up top are playing so fluidly together and combing brilliantly with either Jones or Szobo which makes them really difficult to stop going forward.
We should've started with that against arsenal
Now Arne is here, and under him we conserve energy during games Arne feels we can conserve energy in, only to EXPLODE with energy in high stakes games( City and Madrid)
Arne is key here. I dont thik we'll burn out this season. Or I hope we wont anyway. 😂
