    • @WanderingMonkHikes

      @@mygiguser That’s logical, but if you open the door (I use a special door from GoPro with a port for the USB) and mount the camera on a stick (I use the shorty) there is enough air flow to keep it from overheating. There are two small ports under the mounting thumbs that dissipate heat. People mistakenly leave the thumbs closed and sit the camera on a flat surface. Then they have problems.

    Was having issues with powering my hero 10 with a portable power bank. This did seem buggy but was very helpful.
    Seems order of operation is a factor with the Hero 10. Plugging directly into the hero from the power bank when the camera has NO BATTERY in it was a fail.
    After this video I tried turning on the power bank FIRST, and the plugging into the hero while the BATTERY is still in the Hero.
    Then removing the Hero Battery and the power stays on.
    I also experienced the blacked out screen, but it seems to go into sleep mode quickly but is still working/recording.
    Although it didn’t work in this video, tapping the screen brings it out of sleep mode.
    Although this video wasn’t focused on my particular problem, it was highly detailed and help me figure out my issue very quickly.
    Great video, thanks so much.

When following your test conditions whilst plugged into my usual iphone usb plug charger, it all works perfectly in various combinations but when trying the same in my car i get a a blank screen saying connected into usb and no functionality. I have only one option by starting the GoPro 10, and press record and lastly plug in the usb-c cable which then shows it is charging. alas, if i stop recording i get that blank screen again saying usb connected and no functions. I will try calling customer support tomorrow to ask whats happening as my car usb-c ports work fine charging my iphone

    I received my Hero10 today.....My power bank worked flawlessly. The following are two ways to use a power bank;
    FOR SOME REASON, EVERYTHING WOULDN'T FIT IN THIS COMMENT. I WILL FINISH IT IN "REPLY" BELOW
    1) You need to leave the battery in camera for all functions and screen to work properly.
    Setup: Plug in your power bank > Red indicator lights will be on solid > Turn on your GoPro > Solid red light will now turn off > Battery bar on screen will show your battery is charging > Operate GoPro as usual > A functions are available.
    Note:
    a) Battery will charge if the power bank is plugged in while "not" recording or turned off. When turned off the Red indicator lights will be on solid while charging.
    b) Battery doesn't seem to charge while recording but, it remains at the same percentage. I recorded for about eight minutes which showed the same percentage as when I started.
    c) I repeated this process three different times without any problems.

    • @rapaent
      @rapaent 3 года назад +1

      2) If you remove the battery and then plug in the power bank you'll be able to see your screen but, once you hit the record button, the screen/s will shut off. Stop recording and the screen/s will come back on. All functions are then available for you to see.Setup: Plug in your power bank > Red indicator lights will flash once and turn off > Turn on GoPro Hero10 > Battery indicator states No Battery > All functions are available > Start recording (screens will be off until you stop recording) Note: After the first time of recording and pausing you will hear a beep and a pop-up will appear stating the following; Cold Battery AlertYour GoPro battery is below 0°C, the displays will turn off during recording to maximize operation and runtime. Press OK This "won't repeat itself for any more consecutive recordings unless, you power off the GoPro Hero10 and/or unplug your power bank. This should work out for any power bank. I've had my Anker power bank for about four years which has worked all day easily on my Hero7 Black without any problems. It appears the it's unavailable now but, the following is an Anker link to that power bank. Anker has many others to choose from and has a great rep. www.anker.com/es/products/variant/powercore--10050/A1311011

    I have a big problem with mine overheating. I film in full sun a lot in Florida. Any suggestions? I'd like to make longer videos but at current, they end up short because I can't get too much time out of the camera. I watched your video because I was wondering if removing the battery pack and using an external battery might help keep the camera cool? Any thoughts?

      @mygiguser  2 года назад +3

      What GoPro recommends is to turn off GPS and WiFi, and then go with a lower frame rate, and maybe turn off Max stabilization, and run it with less stabilization. I image on a boat with constant movement, the stabilization is very busy, what could cause the fast overheating. External battery is not bad, but then the camera is not waterproof anymore...

      lol gopro is an idiot why buy a hero 10 if the features are not usable. if thats their solution to tone down the settings then the hero 10 is not worth the upgrade

    • @jerseyshoredroneservices225

      Like the other comments says, turn off those features if you don't need them. Also create shade and ventilation for the camera if possible. Lastly, remove the battery from the camera and power it with an external battery. Leave the battery door off for better ventilation. Obviously this doesn't work if you're going to get it wet.
      whatever you do be super careful because the back screens on the 10 and 11 are super delicate. I broke two of them one very new cameras without dropping them or hitting them with anything. I made a warranty claim but GoPro told me to get lost 😡

      This used to happen to me also especially if I kept the battery in while it's plugged to an external power bank. I have found success when using only the external power bank and removing the battery.

      yes, i tried different power supplies, including a power pack, and the GoPro supercharger. All show the same result. Tried different batteries too. The external charger is able to charge the battery to 100%. The Hero10 and Hero9 batteries seem to be the same.

    Get an external battery with USB type C output. Connect the external battery to Gopro hero10 with the USB-C to USB-C cable will work without the battery error message, even with the latest firmware update. No need to insert the internal battery. Thunderbolt to Thunderbolt cable also works. Do not use USB-A to USB-C cable.

      I had that problem too. This solution was a manual firmware installation off the SD card.
      unfortunately soon after that I learned that the 10 and 11 have very delicate back screens which broke on my cameras without ever being hit or even dropped. when I made the warranty claim GoPro told me to get lost. These are very expensive, disposable cameras 😡

    Such a time waste sorting out these GoPro problems that they should have worked out before taking your money. Gopro will tell you it is anything but their fault. The GoPro tech people know exactly what's happening but the marketing people deny deny deny. ("We've got units to move here, tell them anything to keep them buying") The problem is that the software developers are trying to do everything to attract buyers by offering more and more features but then leaving it to the public to beta test them. The newer the firmware, the more buggy they are. I have rolled my 10 firmware back to 1.2 and it is working fine for me. Probably missing some refinements but at least able to get through 2 hours of recording at 4K, 60 fps, high bitrate and not overheating. I can now get back from a flight in my aeroplane and not find the external cameras stopped working after 40 minutes. Seriously looking at DJI after being a Gopro fan and purchaser since the Hero3. 😡😡
