    I bought my first fish finder in 1984. I think depth finder is a more accurate term. I’m also a fresh water fisherman. The info discussed is awesome, but it can be confusing too. However, I would add that those of you who are getting you first unit or upgrading from a basic model is that to truly understand this info you have to get out on the water and really use your unit in different modes and settings. “A” scope can really help you literally stay on top of fish. Zoom functions can help you figure out or see exactly what the structure is that you’re looking at. If you want to get the most out of your unit, do more than turn it on. Great info, thanks for sharing.

    I have zero need for sonar to look for fish and i do mean zero at the moment but i do have a need for the 50 feet catamaran that i am proposing to buy and will need sonar at night sailing for the function of side view, under hull depth & forward collision . Have been suggested and you have covered this well with one transducer on each hull and probable duel 16 inch screens at the helm and similar at the workstation. I am still concerned about running to many functions on two screens such as diesel burn per hour, radar, sonar plotter instruments, bow cameras or is it best to have separate instruments for wind direction and other smaller instrument

    The "chine" is where the bottom meets the side of the boat. What you are calling a chine are actually lifting strakes.

    I need a transducer that would be going on a World Cat 290DC. I want a through hull but don't want to cut a big hole in the boat. I am more interested in a 2D and 3D image of the bottom as it would be used for diving and discovery. This is for salt water. What can you recommend and where best to place it? I was planning on buying a Garmin 8600 (main chart plotter) and a second Garmin (smaller) for a tower station. Thank you.

    I have just purchased a World Cat 250DC. I plan on doing some offshore fishing and scuba diving. I am very interested in installing the 8612xsv. What transducers should I consider? Do I need dual transducers since it is a catamaran?

    Hello, I have a 1222xsv touch, is the GT56UHD compatible? whats the difference between 56 and 51?

    • @GarminInt
      @GarminInt  2 года назад

      Hi there! The GTUHD is not compatible with the GPSMAP 1222xsv. The difference is that the 56 has the UHD frequency capabilities.

    I have an ECHOMAP Ultra 126sv with a GT54 UHD and want to add a GT15M-IH. Will these be compatible?

    • @GarminInt
      @GarminInt  3 года назад

      Hi Steve, these transducers can't be paired because there would be an interference between the sonar frequencies. Please let me know if I can hep with anything else. -MR

      @@GarminInt i have been tying to reach anyone at garmin for a month with no luck is there anyone else i can speak to. great video learned alot have some more questions. i see that you can use 2 transducers on same screen with the 8612sxv units so if i understand this if i used a b175h and a gt51 i would have frequency on chirp reported all on same page from 85 khz to 210khz with a total beam angle of 24 - 14 with the 10-6 h overlaying info is this correct? i really like the idea of gt54uhd to get better clearer images on side and down . i know you said 20to30% reduction in depth so that would be 140ft on 1200khz . is that including the depth of water meaning if im in a 100` ill only see 40` of structure each side?if that wont work maybe the gt50m tm dont need anything past 120ftdepth so looking for better resolution. back to the b175h my concern is the narrow beam which im sure will give me best bottom image but only around 9` of coverage is pretty small.and the hw is like 44` which is to wide to narrow in on snapper and grouper .kind of a pickle but need to make a decision and want the best i can get..im all ears hoping for help. ill also try again to reach someone at email you provided.maybe i can change the second unit from a 8612 to a 8612 xsv also and run a third on that alone? but would have overlaping frequency as i have no need for a low so would do a b175m or another gt unit????

    is it possible to use a traditional thru hull transducer (8 pin) with a striker vivid 4cv. The unit has a (4 pin) setup.
    I realize a converter wire can be purchased but has anyone actually had success with this setup?
