Amazing Sir, I am learning many things from your videos. As I am a beginner, really they are very very useful. Thanq very much for sharing. I am very lucky to have found your videos.
Thanks Clive. I have save these videos for future reference. I have just started pouring and would love to see you doing some or how to use a pour as a background for a painting.
Thank you very much for your wonderful tips!!! They are superb and are real money savers for a cash strapped pensioner. I love watching your channel and love your accent! Blessings from South Africa.
Thank you very much. The knowledge you are giving me is very helpful. I think I will send some things back to my major home delivery retailer and make them myself! Learning to paint does add up!
Thanks a lot... U saved a lot of money.... I was looking for such recipes... And also made some of them... But ur measurements made it a lot more easier
Thanks so much for thisnever knew pva. Could be used for all of these things, l have only used it to stiffen crochet items, so thanks again will definitely be using in my painting, Love your channel ,😊😊😊😊
Great stuff Clive! We use a lot of natural products to make mushroom bags so will experiment with rice powder, lime ( the one for cement not you G'n't) is the nearest translation, and see what happens.
Hi Clive....Thank you, just seen this and the rubbing alcohol one and acrylic additives!! Wish I saw them before i bought Gesso and modelling paste, etc. But at least I know now, much thanks :)
You are so kind,mr.clive!!!😊😊😊 you share diy hacks of expensive mediums!! You are a life saver!! Thumbs up for doing videos of hacks and paintings!! All of them are wonderful!! Thank you so much!! Happy holidays!!🌲🌲🌲🌲
Clive, I hope you dont mind; I am SHARING this with my rock-painting group! I am ALSO ENCOURAGING all of our members to SUBSCRIBE to your channel --- You are SUCH a GREAT teacher, and make things SO EASY to understand and follow! MANY BLESSINGS!💖💖💖
WoW. Your art corner reminds me of mine . . right down to the hat! Found and subbed and off to try your recipe's. Ta very much and nice to meet you Clive.
Will the sealer or extender also make it easier to blend acrylic paint as you go--sort of the wet on wet technique? bytheway: LOVE your videos!!! You are one of the best instructors on utube!!! Thank youso much for sharing information with us novices.
Omg I love you vids and have been watching for about a year but when you said acrylic pouring I got so happy I pour I love it and am doing it very well but did not know you knew what it was 😊 Thank you so much you made my day
Nice one! Cheap ModPodge! Brilliant! And the gesso, superb. Thanks Clive. Presume you can store these in good plastic bottles? Similar shelf life to the shop bought forms?
Great work! However Isn't there a risk that the modelling paste may crack? Would you say that once it's mixed with acrylic paint that the mix is of archival quality?
Will start again. Can you think of any way to convert watercolour into acrylic paint. Tried adding it to PVA glue, (may have used too much watercolour,). Do you think adding calcium carbonate would be helpful? ( bought 10 pounds of watercolour from estate sale on eBay as there were Daniel Smith and Winsor Newton that more than paid for the cost. So now I have pounds left.
Hi Clive, love your videos and you give so much good information too. I have a question for you, I have a printed picture on photographic paper and would like to put it onto a MDF board. Can I use the PVA glue to stick it to the board or is there something else I should use. Thanks, Jayne
No it won’t as it’s a water based product only oil based products tend to yellow. this is the same stuff as all the main manufacturers use if unsure just read their technical data sheets
What exactly does PVA STAND FOR? I’ve hear it called several different things. Man, I wish I had found this channel and Clive a long time ago. Ah, you just said it, it’s ACITATE.
CLIVE5ART I used a combination of talk and cornstarch. I followed prescribed measurements. Obviously I messed up somewhere. I would like to try again but messing up gets expensive. I have used mdf for many smaller platforms. Ended up sealing it with the liquid left from the blob. Worked well for me. Always love your Money saving ideas. They are great for us artists on a budget. Very thankful!
Hi Clive, I really appreciate all the great tips you share. As I suffer from latex allergy I was a little shocked when you said PVA is on latex basis. Just here to share that I've checked and it does not contain latex. PVA is a thermoelastic polymer, the same type of plastic they use for pacifiers.
Brilliant ideas Clive. These mediums are so expensive that they can be off putting to buy if you are only starting and not sure you will use them. Having multi purpose pva makes it affordable and you can try more. One question, where to buy calcium carbonate, it there a brand available in DIY shops?
Thanks for mentioning calcium carbonate, you've just reminded me to take my calcium and vit d3 pills! Is it true that vegetable glycerine can be used as a drying retardant?
Hi Clive, Do I have to use the sealer on MDF boards before I gesso, or is the gesso a sealer as well? thank you very much for the hacks, who knew you could do so much with PVA glue.
Hello! I'm beggining painting with your intersting vidéos. Please what about cleaning brush after using pva? It still sticks on, washing in water. I also tried with cellulosic diluant but that has not convincted me. Sorry for the "approximative" language. Thank you!
Try 'No more nails' as texture! Works great.

Got to share this in my pouring groups 👍👍
Thank you so much !

Resin is liquid glass , floetrol is what you mix your acrylic paint to thin it , just like pva glue .Resin just give it a glossy finish touch.
Nice one! Cheap ModPodge! Brilliant! And the gesso, superb. Thanks Clive. Presume you can store these in good plastic bottles? Similar shelf life to the shop bought forms?
Yup same stuff same shelf life but make your own and you can make just what you want at any time
Great work! However Isn't there a risk that the modelling paste may crack? Would you say that once it's mixed with acrylic paint that the mix is of archival quality?

The icards are not showing up for me. Is there another place to find the recipes? Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge!💜
Should show on your phone I pad or pc ..
k about the alcohol and water in one jar and soapy water is genius.I've been painting on and off for 50yrs. and ashamed I didn't know that
Thank you very much for your very valuable lessons. Would it work if I cover dry acrylic painting with your mix #5?
HI Clive! Regarding your first tip for using PVA glue as a sealer, do you need to add gesso on top of the sealer??
Only if you want a grip for the paint
Hi Clive, love your videos and you give so much good information too. I have a question for you, I have a printed picture on photographic paper and would like to put it onto a MDF board. Can I use the PVA glue to stick it to the board or is there something else I should use. Thanks, Jayne
That should work not tried it personally
Hi Clive ,is there any trick to make Polyurethane rust oleum. And what's the big deal of this. Difference between other glaze. Thanks
I'm in the US. Is Elmer's Glue-all PVA glue?
Thanks for the info. Will the PVA when used as a clear base, start to yellow over time?
No it won’t as it’s a water based product only oil based products tend to yellow. this is the same stuff as all the main manufacturers use if unsure just read their technical data sheets
Great video thank you. Can you thin it and spray it through an airbrush for making translucent paint colors? Didn’t know if you have tried it.
Unknown sorry
What exactly does PVA STAND FOR? I’ve hear it called several different things. Man, I wish I had found this channel and Clive a long time ago. Ah, you just said it, it’s ACITATE.
Does clear Elmer's work for these as well?
Elmer's glue is just PVA same stuff
I made the gesso and it hardened into a blob. Not sure what I did wrong but I’ll keep trying.
You used too much chalk or what ever you used if it was plaster of Paris that could be the problem
CLIVE5ART I used a combination of talk and cornstarch. I followed prescribed measurements. Obviously I messed up somewhere. I would like to try again but messing up gets expensive. What I ment is latex paint does not contain latex these days it's just a name given
Brilliant ideas Clive. These mediums are so expensive that they can be off putting to buy if you are only starting and not sure you will use them. Having multi purpose pva makes it affordable and you can try more. One question, where to buy calcium carbonate, it there a brand available in DIY shops?
You can get it form me at www.clive5art.co.uk or look on eBay
Do you have a link for the recipes. Can Modge podge be used to seal the painting like a varnish?
In the iCards
Will modeling glue stick to a rock? I sometimes find the perfect rock for painting, but it has a chip in it, or divets on the surface...
All pva glue is basically the same stuff just different names
If you make too much, can you store it in a bottle and how long can it be stored before it hardens
All the product have long shelf life if the container is sealed correctly and kept from direct sunlight
Thanks for mentioning calcium carbonate, you've just reminded me to take my calcium and vit d3 pills!
Is it true that vegetable glycerine can be used as a drying retardant?
Yes it can act as a retarder but only a few drops in water anymore and it can make the paint sticky
I love pva glue but here in the USA it's exspensive..
School glue is the same stuff
Is gym chalk will work?
Unsure
I am in the US, I can't find that your that you have exactly but we do have elmers so that is what I should get? Than you so much for your videos
,
Elmers is the same stuff
Hi Clive, Do I have to use the sealer on MDF boards before I gesso, or is the gesso a sealer as well? thank you very much for the hacks, who knew you could do so much with PVA glue.
I recommend a sealer then gesso better to air on the side of caution and it’s cheep to make so on takes a little time
What is marble dust
Basically dust from cutting marble
8 quid on amazon for same amount
OMG. Today I bought some clear gesso. It was $16.00 USD.. I think it was about 6 ounces. I'll be making my on from now on!
Glad it helped
Hello! I'm beggining painting with your intersting vidéos. Please what about cleaning brush after using pva? It still sticks on, washing in water. I also tried with cellulosic diluant but that has not convincted me.
Sorry for the "approximative" language. Thank you!
Confused...…
