It’s becoming a trend to not like the truth, sadly. The truth is that some people are making a killing off of repackaging pouting mediums into a $50 small bottle vs an extra large $15 bottle. I REALLY appreciate those people that have experimented and are sharing the truth!! THANK YOU!!!
You are the first channel that ever gave me a formula to make sure of less waste/enough paint!! Thank you!! After a year of watching videos - I feel much more ready to actually pour after finding your channel!!
Thank you for your tutorials. I'm completely blind, and you have no idea how hard it is to find people who talk through all the steps without just sort of meandering off into commenting on how pleased/annoyed/whaatever-else, instead of continuing to talk through the process. Super helpful, and excited to watch more of your stuff. :)
That is a great point. I used to work for a blind center and they taught me so much and how to be more detailed in my speaking and more respectful of how I speak. They did more for me than I did for the agency. It was a lovely place to work. I had a great mentor who was blind and he was so patient with me. Many instructional videos only play music, which is frustrating. RUclips should make it mandatory to make videos accessible to the Blind and the Deaf also. I agree!
Literally you are the only RUclipsr that answers all my questions. No one else I’ve seen is as specific as you! You deserve more than the amount of subscribers you have!
So this is because of the paints I used. Arteza paints are really highly pigmented in my experience so I use a higher pouring medium to paint ratio. Saves me money by not overusing paints too as an added bonus. Many other student quality paints I only use a 2:1 ratio. I know the "it depends" answer isn't the best for new artists but the paint quality and pigment really make a big difference on outcomes.
I appreciate you showing how to mix the poor medium first and then also explaining how much to use with the paint that is very important for me as a beginner and I appreciate it

I used tacky glue and water and thinned to a thin pancake batter. First time in my life and it's all I had. I poured the tacky glue mixture on the center of a small piece of wood. Then dropped the acrylic paint in small drops and moved thru the paint very slightly with a toothpick. Oh my it was beautiful. That glue was my first kind of pouring medium, but I started mixing it with glazing medium, and found that I really liked how that behaved. I found that the glaze took sooooo long to dry, though. And I see that you have an episode about disappearing painting! My daughter made me a painting on a black canvas, and the pouring medium I mixed up for her was glaze and Glue All, so it was a pretty, soft pink and white blooming painting. The next day I was looking for it, her painting was missing! Everyone else had theirs, but not Chrystal. There was a stunning galactic black and pink nebula that no one claimed. It took us a good hour before we realized that was hers! I proudly have that piece hanging in my living room. 😊
LeftBrainedArtist i do have several questions about the weight of paints, and I am assuming you have a video about that. I will find it very useful to me. Namely, I have questions like what exactly a cell activator is, is the weight of a paint related to the “Phalo”, “cadmium”, “titanium” in the pigment? I have no idea how to word that question. Lol, I will watch more experiments in the morning, I am sure you have already explained that.
Again thank you so much for a great study and now I’m going to try only with Elmers glue to do my flow trawl I try so many things but I like to do that’s the same ratio that you gave. It was your Mother’s Day and thank you so much for your teaching you are a great teacher. With love Elana tell me something
For a beginner, I am so happy for this video. You explain everything so well. I watch your videos again and again, and each video helps me understand what I didn’t understand before. Thank you for your clear, concise method of teaching. I about gave up as I scraped off more paint as they all looked like a mess. I’m trying to find the “right” consistency of the paint and medium. Keep your videos coming.
If you haven't already, check out the video I did a few weeks ago about consistency. ruclips.net/video/nZgXEAnE2zQ/видео.html Thanks for the comment and for your nice word. I really appreciate that Shannon.

I like what you do about measuring your paint. I wasn't going to attempt to learn how to paint like this because I didn't think I could possibly afford all the wasted paint! Thank you, and now I can paint....all I have to do now is learn how ADD! (just joking) Best tutorial on RUclips!
Thanks so much George. Glad to be of service. Also, if you put something like silicone or plastic below your painting you can scrape that up and put it in a container and use that for a base coat or a grey/brown color later.
16:51 I love your channel, Just getting product to start pouring. I’m excited. You explain things so well. I pray my turn out just half as nice as yours. 😊

I just added another comment today! I finally got some success due to your perfect explanation of pouring medium and easy math. The outcome is beautiful! Thanks for doing these videos. Have a great day.
Thank you so much for the recipe for use with craft glue! I'm just starting out so I don't want to spend a lot of $. I got craft paint and cheap white glue which may contain more water. I'll have to check in that but it definitely isn't as opaque as elmer's glue. I may have to adjust recipe to account for that water. While searching for cheap alternatives I saw something that said you can get cells using glue and water but it doesn't look that way here. I'll just experiment. I have subscribed so looking forward to watching more! Thanks again!
Glue isn't the best cell former. However, it is a great lacing maker with the right colors/consistency. Lacing comes from a a swipe when you force the one paint over the other (swipe, dutch, etc.). You can add a little Floetrol to give some small cells.
I really like your channel, it is so useful for me as (still) a beginner, thank you for that!! I use glue and water myself, and like to do open cup pours, and it makes the most beautiful cells, so I would just mention that for you!

I am learning SO much from your videos! I like the detailed explanations. A little tip from me. Use grams when mixing on those scales. the oz are always off.
I am bingeing on your website blog and videos. I want to acknowledge firstly that your artwork is just wonderful, delightful! But more important to me is how you teach. You seem to anticipate my every question and walk us through each and every nuance of what you are doing and that is so kind and helpful. And just as much I love that you are not "on stage" being cute, funny, or calling attention to yourself, you are a natural born teacher and artist. Thank you SO much for your tutelage and teach style and inspiring art, and also quick response to my question. Do you have anywhere in your classes how to pour on other bases, like glass or metal or plastic?
I don't have those yet but they are on my content list. My next set of courses is comparing and contrasting the popular pouring mediums. I would most likely look at pouring on Glass next as I get a lot of questions about that. Thanks for the suggestions and your kind words. My mother was a school teacher for many years so I am going to blame my teaching style on that. 😀
newbe here, your really informative, pointing out the pros and cons, and the cost is great. being new to this I must be money conscience. I will be following you and all your ideas.
I appreciate your videos so much because you are so thorough in explaining how you measure and mix, what you use and your methods! It is so useful for someone like me who is still learning and experimenting with different paints and mediums. So thank you! Also that ring pour in the middle turned out gorgeous - I will definitely be using glue for my ring pours from now on! 😊
I'm new to this art form Thank you for a very good tutorial All 3 of your pieces came out beautiful 😍 I'm looking forward to see more of your videos xx
I mix paint! Acrylic latex by Ben Moore. So thinning isn't issue, but may need to thicken! Love the glue idea as I've used it to make primers! Lol. Ima try this!
Thank you so much! I ran out of Floetrol and I was trying to figure out what glue. I tried the washable kind and your right it doesn't work right at all. I wished I had seen this before I tried that. 😊
Sometimes failing is the best lesson . . . OK "most" of the time failing is the best lesson. 😅 Luckily you aren't out much and you still got to pour. Good luck on the next ones. Let me know if you have any more questions I can answer.
I have a blog post and a video about that here - leftbrainedartist.com/best-torches-for-acrylic-paint-pouring/ - ruclips.net/video/a3UdyN9w3-M/видео.html
Love the experimenting and your comparisons! Wondering, have you ever sprayed WD-40 (or any silicon spray) on the TOP of wet paint (w/o any silicon in it) that's been spread out on the canvas?
Wow omg I finally found someone who does measuring in ounces I’m so excited I am trying to measure 70% glue all and 30% water. Can you please tell me how much that both of those would be in ounces you would absolutely make my day because I must be stupid because I can’t figure it out and I don’t want to Free pour. Your awesome so happy I found you. I use Mont martre paints. Oh my God you would help me out so much I’ve been racking my brains out just call me stupid but I could really use your help
I usually mix a bottle with 7 ounces of paint and 3 ounces of water. Then use that all up and redo. That way I always have properly mixed glue on hand.
Usually the manufacturer will tell you if they are studio, or beginner/student, or professional. Any brand that doesn't is probably a student grade (although I am sure there are some exceptions).
I’m just beginning to paint pour and your videos are the absolute best! The one thing I’m having problems with is calculating the GlueAll mix. I’ve bought a gallon of this and would like to mix up a 2 quart container with the 70/30 mixture to have on hand for my craft paints. But my brain has frozen as to how many ounces each of glue/water to use! Do you have a video that gives these amounts? I think I’ve watched about 30 of them so far, lol.
A gallon of glue-all weighs about 3 lbs. Remove 1 pound of glue and then add back in 13 ounces of water. To the 1 lb of glue you removed, add about 6 ounces of water.
Hi David .As usual your informations and experiments are the best I find on the internet, you are awesome. Please what would be the ratios for heavy paints like Amsterdam acrylics? The ratio of Elmer's Glue All to water and the ratio of this pooring medium to Amsterdam paint ? Many thanks
70/30 glue/water is the pouring medium. Then 2 parts medium to 1 part paint for your ratios. Then add water to the desired consistency. You can go 3:1 or 4:1 if you don't mind your color getting more transparent and less vibrant but I normally stick to 2:1 for amsterdam.

....no? Just me? Nevermind 🤣 ooohh that's a bummer. I'll never be able to get them but I appreciate them so so much. Alas.
This is the first pour video I've seen that made me think I could even attempt it myself, and not just because of being more cost accessible. Thank you, very much.
Have you watched this video Will? I get down and dirty on why I think you should start today - ruclips.net/video/UWpTZGpQt6s/видео.html
@@LeftBrainedArtist I haven't but will check it out today, thanks! Also, I'm a little nervous at the idea of seriously wanting pick up yet ANOTHER art medium 😫😂😅
This was so helpful with these side by side comparison, thank you for the awesome presentation.
Always a pleasure my friend. Glad they were helpful.
This is one of your most informative and interesting videos!! Thanks!!! I LOVE the colors!
Glad you enjoyed it! It was a fun one to make and I still have one hanging in my office.
Arteza paints are excellent ...affordable quality.. i an new to pouring and i am making your pouring medium. thank u for your videos
Excellent Yama. Hope it helps you like it did me when I was starting out.
I am learning SO much from your videos! I like the detailed explanations. A little tip from me. Use grams when mixing on those scales. the oz are always off.
Depends on the scale. Any time I am using smaller amounts, one or two ounces, grams works way better for sure.
Turned out awesome!!!
Thanks Raquel.
I heard one of you youtubers say they mix a day before. So I tried it. The paint was a lot smoother looking after letting it sit for 24 hours.
That is totally how I "should" be doing it. I am just too impatient sometimes.
I agree, Pouring Your Heart Out channel is really good!
Love her.
newbe here, your really informative, pointing out the pros and cons, and the cost is great. being new to this I must be money conscience. I will be following you and all your ideas.
Thanks Susan. Happy to help.
You definitely can get some pretty awesome results from Glue-All. Just be sure to varnish any piece you want to keep.
@@LeftBrainedArtist Varnish? Like to seal it?
Thank you for this informative video. Learned so much from your videos. Keep it going!
TYVM.
I'm glad i found your channel ..this is so valuable thank you so much
So glad you are here too George. Don't hesitate to ask me or the Pouring Nation questions.
Love these!! Learning so much! Thank you!
You are so welcome!
This was super helpful because it was sooo frustrating trying to figure out what I did wrong with this, thank you!!!!
So glad it helped Leslie. Let us know if you have other questions.
I'm new to this art form Thank you for a very good tutorial All 3 of your pieces came out beautiful 😍 I'm looking forward to see more of your videos xx
Thanks so much 😊 Clasina. I hope they continue to be helpful for you.
Btw I absolutely love all of Arteza products! Have not been disappointed.
Me too. Haven't been let down so far. I wish they would have stuck with the pouches though. So much easier to get every drop of paint out of.
These r beautiful....I love these tutorials.....great job... understood everything u said.... TFS Shelly from Colorado 😉❤️
I'm so glad to hear that Shelly.
Wonderful paintings! I love your videos so much information.
Thanks Darlene. Glad to be of service.
I like the one in the middle best 👍
Thanks for voting Brenda. These were fun to make for sure.
I mix paint! Acrylic latex by Ben Moore. So thinning isn't issue, but may need to thicken! Love the glue idea as I've used it to make primers! Lol. Ima try this!
Let me know how it goes Cheryl.
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it Doug.
Great tutorial
Thank you!
Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Very very helpful.
My pleasure Julio. Hope it helps your acrylic pouring.
Ty for talking in layman's terms
Now I'll paint my heart out 😂❤
You totally should!
😊
Muy bien explicado. La mejor!! Muchas graciad
De nada!
Love it! Great vid! Can’t wait to try it!
Thanks!
@@LeftBrainedArtist lol Well with our failure you can enjoy success. Thats what I tell myself lol. I sure will. Its been a fun learning ☺
Very, very interesting and helpful. Thank you so much👍
Glad it was helpful Carol. Enjoy your pouring.
This was awesome. Could you please explain what kind of torch is it I’ve never used one.
I have a blog post and a video about that here - leftbrainedartist.com/best-torches-for-acrylic-paint-pouring/ - ruclips.net/video/a3UdyN9w3-M/видео.html
Wow thank you. This is so helpful.
You are more than welcome Rowena. Happy pouring!
This was a great tutorial- thank you🤩
Glad it was helpful Laurie.
Love the experimenting and your comparisons! Wondering, have you ever sprayed WD-40 (or any silicon spray) on the TOP of wet paint (w/o any silicon in it) that's been spread out on the canvas?
I have. The chameleon cells is essentially that. Kind of hit and miss on how well it turns out.
I love your videos!
Thanks again Ruth. So glad they are helping.
Ty I feel so dumb😂😂. But I’m glad you explained e everything else. You are an Excellent teacher I thank you very much
Ty again so I’ve watched you mix paints. So I’m gonna do as you said with the 70% 30%. And to pour in a cup I do 1 oz of paint and 2 oz of pm correct.
@@dlanselmo81 If you are using student acrylic yes. If you are using craft paint (dollar store, craftsmart, apple barrel, etc you want 1:1).
Beautiful. Thank you for sharing. When purchasing paints what determines student, crafts etc.
Usually the manufacturer will tell you if they are studio, or beginner/student, or professional. Any brand that doesn't is probably a student grade (although I am sure there are some exceptions).
QUESTION: How do you mix up tube paint for these applications? Love your results and technical info!!
Student level acrylics (not craft) are generally 2 parts medium to 1 part paint.
This is amazing!! Do you have a video on peeling techniques to reveal patterns or letters?
I haven't done a lot of stencil/taping pours but they totally work.
Thank i learned so much from watching you
Glad to hear that Jackie. Happy pouring (and 4th if you are in the states).
