    Thank you for that tip. I do agree that the music is a bit distracting, it would be better to have a silent background.

    I enjoy your tips and return again and again because of your personality and style.
    I can't believe people can't appreciate your company as an artist, teacher and individual. I t doesn't seem enough that you are giving of yourself, your time and talent. Selfish people want you to change who you are as an individual as well (your back ground music). I really don't know how some people can look themselves in the mirror.
    Please don't change a thing, I love your style and appreciate your time, your heart, and everything you put into making these videos. 💙

    Yes, I know I'm a day late and a dollar short, as this video was published back in 2016, but I have to tell you that I like the background music and can hear you just fine. Of course, for those that are having a hard time hearing you, that's certainly no good, as we all enjoy your videos. But I just wanted to let you know that I think the music is lovely. Thank you for this wonderful information! Praise God! and the neat little design you created at the end with the yellow paint and the alcohol looks to me like a stylized painting of a field of Dandelions gone to seed. Really cool! Praise God! Thank you!

    Also good for cleaning plastic pallets! I use it or windex all the time to clean mine (I like having little wells)
    Also, if you need some ink for some reason, if you draw with some permanent marker in a little dish (like a shot glass) and add a drop or two, you have some quick ink!

    Hi, Clive. I love your videos. I especially loved your hack about making the Homemade Unlocking Formula. What a great hack! I can't wait to try it.
    I use the small alcohol prep pads (sold in the US in packages of about 100 in most drug/grocery stores and on Amazon) to make tiny corrections in my acrylic portraits. Although more expensive than just putting rubbing alcohol on a rag or paper towel, I find that these tiny pads give me much more control. I like the pads that are sort of thick, and are one layer. They sell these pads as an unfordable two-ply, but they are more like wet paper and hard to control. The thicker, more cottony pad works best for me.
    Thanks so much.

    I keep some rubbing alcohol in an air tight squeeze bottle on my craft table all the time. It is great for removing so many marks that won't wash off with just water. I use a mix of it and water to refresh wet wipes if an opened package has dried out, to wipe off paint spatters if they get on other things other than the picture I'm working on, and to clean off paint smears that get on the handles of my brushes. The gel plates for monoprinting from Gelli Arts can be cleaned off with the alcohol gel hand sanitizer. I don't use alcohol in spray bottles because it is dangerous to breath in. Since you dilute your spray so much it might be safer, but doctors say even the fumes from rubbing on the skin shouldn't be inhaled. Denatured alcohol, which is menthol alcohol, as opposed to isopropyl alcohol, can be used to reactivate dried permanent alcohol based markers (not the solvent based ones). A water and glycerine mix are better for the water based markers. I have reactivated my markers more than once depending on how much color is left in them. Some of them still work after being reactivated up to three times. If the nub it hard and really dried out I put a drop or two of the solution on it as well as the tube inside the marker but not too much or the color won't draw down into the nub. Thanks for the tips, I'll have to watch your other tip videos as well. Thanks for sharing.

    Thank you for this, some good information here. One question and one critique: is de-ionized water the same as distilled water?
    And, well, you are such a good painting tutor but why oh why must you play music? If we want music we might like to play our own music in the background ... I don't understand why so many tutorials include music. This music here was so annoying but your video would be great without. Just my humble opinion.

    • @CLIVE5ART
      @CLIVE5ART  8 лет назад +7

      +Mo M thanks mo I understand let me explain firstly it's to set these apart from the lessons and make them more enjoyable this formate works well for these types of videos also it allows me to use music from other youtube creators who have music videos I don't just collaborate with artists I use music very sparingly but it does give an atmosphere to the video, if I did it without I would be told it's just me talking and boring it's a difficult balance to get right I will take your opinion on board thank you all my best Clive I

    This was very interesting. However, the first example about the unlocking formula caught my attention because I had recently read something in a North Light art book about alcohol being used in acrylic painting. According to the book using alcohol in this way compromises the integrity of the paint. It also noted that some works in museums and private collections needed restorations as a result, thereby giving acrylics a bad name. Of cours3e, it doesn't state how long it took for the damage to be visible. However, having said that, I'd try it as I'm not looking to sell my work and it definitely won't end up in a museum lol. I'll try most hacks at least once. I like using alcohol with inks. Thanks for the other tips.

      @@CLIVE5ART You're welcome, good sir :) You ask in this video for any other uses for alcohol. I know of one, but it has to be 99% undiluted alcohol. I do special effects makeup and when I'm making wounds or other effects out of silicone, or painting a silicone prosthetic, I use alcohol activated paints. They have to be used with only 99% alcohol, but they are awesome! It's the only paint that really sticks to the silicone and the opacity of the paint is controlled b y the amount of alcohol you saturate your brush with. It's very expensive paint though...haha! Luckily, once you invest in a palette, the colors last for quite a while. It's fun stuff! This kind of paint and alcohol is also used in makeup air brushes, though not around the eyes- for obvious reasons.

    you could use a dry erase marker to remove permanent marker too. just scribble it over and wipe off.

    it is great for watercolor effects too. NOT ART RELATED ....but I once read in Runner's World Magazine, if you are going for a run or really any exercise and do not have access to a shower right away, use Alcohol Wipes to clean up...just dont use them on your naughty parts...OUCH!!
