    I seal all my raw stretched Belgian linen canvases with a mixture of Elmer's All Purpose glue and distilled water. I do this three times. The first time , I saturate the stretched linen with distilled water, front and back, then use a weak mixture for the first coat, scrubbing into the fibers. The remainder two coats receive a stronger mixture solution .

      Gac 100 is just pure acrylic resin different thickness of this can be bought but that’s all it is basically an expensive thick glaze medium they try to confuse us with science

    Fantastic!! Thank you... because I was also wanting to know how to seal some DIY canvas/boards for painting on :) ... is it also possible to put this into a spray bottle and transform it to a spray-on sealer (or might this clog the spray bottle, or other unwanted affects)? Thanks for another fantastic tutorial :)

    • @CLIVE5ART
      @CLIVE5ART  6 лет назад

      It can dry and clog the bottle yes

    • @princepouncer2729
      @princepouncer2729 5 лет назад +1

      No. With stretched canvases , at least, you must be aggressive with the Elmer glue/ PVA water application. You got to be damn sure to scrub that solution into the stretched fibers thoroughly with a Home Depot brush , using scrubbing motions. Otherwise the solution will just sit there and seal/ absorb unevenly into the canvas.

    Hi Clive.... thanks for great video. My question is: do this mix yellow the paitings over time? I like paintings with a lot of white space so I have to make sure the mix does not yellow the painting... have you any experiment with that….?

    • @CLIVE5ART
      @CLIVE5ART  5 лет назад +4

      It can't yellow 1: acrylic is plastic and will not oxidize like oils
      2: it's also light fast

    Hi Clive, thanks for this great video! I'm completely new to acrylic painting on wood, and have a quick question. Does this homemade sealer have similar effects to GAC 100? After doing much research, this product is the most prominent recommended sealer for painting on wood, however it is very expensive!
