- Hi Everyone,
In this video, I am going to do my own nails. I really hate doing my own nails, but it's something a girl has gotta do.
I have decided to do some pastel ombres with a few of them having some gorgeous mylar inside.
I am going to do some artwork on these but I'll save that for another video.
Doing your own nails is never easy but hopefully, some of the hints and tips I have in this video may help you.

Definitely the same here the older I’ve got the more girly I’ve got lol. I get excited when doing my nails, but more so when they are done because I hate doing my own nails.

Hi Kirsty. Could you think about doing a vid on the dreaded greenies, please? I know they are caused by moisture under the acrylic, but can you cover what mistakes might cause them and how to deal with them when you have them. All I can find on YT is 'I got the greenies; the salon gave me greenies etc. It would be very constructive to see how not to be a drama queen about them and how to sort them out. Many thanks.
I like the colors and how they blend together. If I did them I would need the nail tips to be wider

Goodafternoon Miss Kirsten your time. I’m wishing you and your family be safe with this virus and whole of UK. My youngest daughter lives in London and loves UK. I’m a licensed hairstylist who was taught Fibreglass nails and then took a course on Acrylic and was not easy at first and now I do gels only. Do you prefer Acrylic over other systems?. Years ago as starting nail technicians you were taught in schools only acrylic and fibreglass. The only reason I do not do acrylic is due to my asthma, otherwise I love to sculpt with acrylic. The closest I can come to doing Acrylic is doing Acrygel. Do you find your nail forms would be good for a beginner nail technician? My daughter will order your products and cheaper than me from Canada later when covid-19 has been lifted. I give praise and to all you tubers who do nail tutorials. ❤️❤️🇨🇦

I seriously thought I was the only one who kept pinching my nails like your doing 😂🤣😂 I’m so glad I’m not alone on this one ☺️. I think it’s that we want that awesome C curve and super slender nail to make our fingers look much slimmer as well. Btw I can touch my thumb to my wrist, lolz 😝. Also I used to be a black and red kinda chick but ever since I got married my husband kinda pushed pink and pastels on me so now I think they’re quite nice. Tbh I love the colors more then the husband 👀🤫. He cheated on me (he claims it wasn’t physical wtfe) not to long ago and I’m really trying to make it work... he isn’t. I only tried for our children. I hate the fact that he ALWAYS uses my disability to his advantage. I can’t get him out of my freakin house!!!!! Oh well my problem not y’alls, lol 😝.

Question for anyone really... Why sculpt and not use tips? What are the befits? Also anyone else try different nail salons but never get exactly what they want?? I watch Kirstys videos in awe. She's amazing!!
Kimberly Marques just look at the quality of the sculpted nail vs tip. Tip is time saving, sculpting is art.

The part I hate about doing my own nails is my fingers going numb from keeping my wrist bent back. So I'm always stopping and shaking my hand to get the blood flowing again.
I have always wondered if this kind of product could be used very lightly just on the natural area of the nail as more of a polish / hardener? I don't really like my nails too long. I like painting them, but I'm so active the polish always gets chipped & I tend to bite my nails & they also tend to be thin & have trouble growing...

I've noticed the nail beds on my dominant hand are a bit bigger than my other hand. Do you find this t be true for others as well Kirsty?
I would love to purchase some of naio items but I’m guessing US shipping charges is still at $20.00 which is not all that bad, but I tries to do my own but I still have problems with filing and lifting
The bendy thing she refers to is typically Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and normal people can’t bend their joints in this way just my .02 as I have this condition ❤️

I have a dumb question how come you don’t use tips, every nail place I’ve been to does just curious. You’re amazing by the way.
I guess tips are usually easier to do nails with? I tried using forms and it was a disaster, but tips made it a lot easier for me.
Give her a break on that one blind in Idaho and when I go to my right hand I can never find it I'm aware of that LOL when I go to do something I don't know but I only see detail I don't even see the whole fingernail anyway if that makes you feel any better I hope so love you darling thank you for the video

Okay. This is a %150 true story! I used acrylic on my nails for a little over 2 years. BIG MISTAKE!!! dont get me wrong, acrylic nails are ABSOULTLY beautiful! "But", it destroys your real nails after a while! 2 years in using acrylics, my nails became paper thin. I had practicly lost my ring finger nain up to the root! They split terribly!. Its been about a month in a half with my natral nails know. I been just drenching them in olive oil about 5 times a day and i must say there truly getting better! There growing back and i dont recomend acrylic nails as a regular habit!!! And olive oil is amazing for nails and skin cause my nails are coming back finally!!!😁

It really gets easier as you practice. I used to get nail polish everywhere, but now I can do them almost perfectly. It helps to put the polish brush on the nail and then push it into the cuticle area a few times (not quite touching the skin of course). If you try to plop the brush right into the cuticle you'll probably get it on the skin.

I totally understand about the camera angles. I had to train myself to do my nails without being super close to them in order to keep my hands in focus for the camera 😊

I think every nail tech needs to master doing your own nails before you work on others! You can feel how to file or use efile, pinching correctly and you can take your time to perfect your sculpting. It’s super hard to do your non dominant hand but if you can master that, just think how good your clients will look! My clients always say they can’t believe I can do it on myself! Love, love your nails!

true I started doing my own acrylic nails about 3 years ago and the first time I did my own nails it took me about 4 hours bcs I wasn’t experienced and doing my dominant hand was hard. if you are someone that want to start but doesn’t have the patient it won’t work

i wish we had nail techs like you where i am. You pay such close attention to detail i love that. you ensure the side wall and barrel are legit, my nail always break away where my natural nail ends because they pay zero attention to that, and when i bring it to their attention they seem bothered by me wanting exactly what i'm asking for you know.
wendy james I have terrible lifting and they look at me like I’m crazy when I ask for acid based primer. Most places don’t use it cuz of burns and lawsuits. 😩😩

Hi, I have to say something about you that I’ve noticed. From the amount of other nail videos I’ve watched and thought they were good, no one on RUclips comes close to your precision and artistic skills. How long have you been doing this? Every day I find myself really focused on your work opposed to others I would watch previously. That’s how on point your work is.
I’ve also noticed some nail videos are either focused on application while others more on the design aspect but haven’t ran across anyone as skilled as you are at both. You are a rarity to say the least. I’ve recently applied for nail tech school that hopefully I will begin this November. In my senior year in high school I won a scholarship to the art institute of Chicago with a full 4 year ride but turned it down to join the Marine Corps. Which I do not regret but have been craving to reintroduce myself back to my roots of my artistic side. I can only hope to become close to be half as good as you.
You taught me something just watching this video. Since I recently started doing my own nails applying polygel, I was applying it wrong with my hands down on the table and now realized that’s why I never seemed to have full coverage over the entire nail plate, and had to reapply the polygel to the weaker edges of the side of my nail because it was never completely covered.
