My syntax in the preceding sentence is clumsy enough, in attempting to be accurate with a conditional statement. But this preacher's command of basic grammar, is even worse. Almost as bad as his command of Biblical exegesis. "Something something... attribute to insanity, what can be adequately explained by, something something..."

I grew up in an Independent Fundamental Baptist church and heard this kind of stuff from the pulpit. It absolutely terrified and traumatized me it took me until I was in my mid forties to realize that it wasn't true. I might still be stuck in it today if it were not for the resources at my fingertips on the internet. I haven't feared going to hell in over 15 years.
