1. Do not procrastinate. Study and do assignments ahead of time. 2. Keep studying previous exam information throughout the semester so you remember it for the cumulative final exam. 3. Stay organized. Calendar Clinical dates, exams, and assignment and project due dates. 4. Work extremely hard. Do everything you possibly can to get the highest possible grade on each exam and quiz. I thank you so much for doing this video!!!
Thanks for this video. I have been feeling unmotivated in nursing school this past week. We all know it doesn't take much to get behind in nursing school.
I honestly have higher grades because I study super hard out of fear of failure because I did fail a nursing course by less than a point ..but now I’m doing great..graduating in May!! And I agree planners are essential!
Alright, time to study for my patho and fundamental exam hard core now after watching this. Thank you so much for the tips Ashley!!! That was inspiring and I’m definitely going to try my best and shoot for the stars🤗
I wish I can "triple like" this! I will definitely do this when I start nursing school this year! 😄 A 4.0 will definitely look good when I want to go to a nursing grad program!
Gosh I wish I had a friend like you to study with! Nursing school is currently kicking my butt!! and saying that I’m trying really hard is an understatement, personally I have so much trouble memorizing all the material and having ADHD doesn’t help😑 and all my classmates are so close-minded that none of them ever want to help me or study together, same goes for my teachers they basically say anything to get me out of the their office quickly.. any tips on a better way to succeed? I want this more than anything, so much so that I’ve even turned down a scholarship to become a doctor, I have to pay for almost all of my expenses and it’s really hard to stay motivated under these circumstances but videos like this and my passion for nursing are the only thing helping me push through!
Great video! I'm laughing at myself about the test anxiety part because you are saying that knowing you have done your best alleviates some anxiety, however, I get test anxiety regardless. I had test anxiety over my drug test for nursing school and I literally have NEVER done drugs in my life! I kept asking myself why am I stressed but I just couldn't help it!😂 (I did pass it, by the way, and laughed at myself for having anxiety over it)
Just a heads up...your GPA doesn't matter on your resume. I'm sure some people are watching this and think that GPA matters when it comes to getting a job, it doesn't. Get your BSN, pass your NCLEX, accumulate multiple letters of recommendation, and be yourself. No need to stress out even more about a 4.0. In fact, many programs have changed now, to the point its damn near impossible now to get a 4.0 (and its done on purpose, for good reason) Where your GPA may factor in is if you're applying to certain nurse externships and also if you plan on moving on to get your masters or doctorate in a specialty, however even in those scenarios, letters of recommendation and experience are factored in equally. I know people who moved on to PA school or became CRNAs with 3.1-3.6 GPAs. Bottom line...stay above 3.0 (which is a B) and you'll be fine.
I follow these steps already, butI start my core classes next semester... so I hope what I've been doing continues to help me. Above all, I know that God will help!! Thank you for the video !
Did you work while in nursing school? My friend is in her second semester of nursing school right now, and she has told me that if you do not have to work while in nursing school - don't.
I have a rather strange question. I’m sorry if it’s a ridiculous one, but once you get into nursing school, do you start your GPA from scratch or do you start with your overall GPA from your pre-requisites? I’ve always wondered that. By the way, LOVE YOUR CHANNEL! I apply for nursing school in the summer and I’m super excited, yet, very nervous. ❤️
Impossible for me. My school is accelerated 16mos program and prereqs are done with nursing classes so it's intense. On top of that, a lot of us work PT/FT, have families, and struggle with the material
We only had a week to FULLY understand perfusion, fluids and electrolytes, hard concepts and then have a huge exam on it after one class and a week to study
Impossible is decided by YOU. Im getting all 98%, 99% and 100% on quizzes and exams. I work full time, minimum of 40hrs a week on 12 hr nights as an lvn while im doing my accelerated bridge to RN right now 12 noon to 4pm M-F, i have 2 kids a husband a mortgage 2 car notes all the things that come with being a grown up, im 4 months pregnant ill deliver the weekend before my clinicals start on the following monday. excuses are only valid if YOU validate them. struggling? = try harder. And im not bragging, this is tough love from one nurse to another, im giving you proof that there are no amount of barriers to excellence unless you accept them and allow them to be barriers. im an air force combat medic veteran, in the air force our core values were Integrity First, Service before Self, and Excellence in All We Do and even if youre not a veteran you can adopt those ethos and do anything you truly, genuinely set your mind to, and that means being honest with yourself 100%, hold yourself accountable, if you didnt give it your all with regard to studying then you cant be upset when you miss questions on a test no matter the difficulty of the information youre being tested on. You can do it, when you feel an excuse coming on literally tell yourself (in your head) thats bullshit and keep on pushing yourself bc you CAN do it.
Hey Ashley, This is my first semester of nursing school. I feel that I am already behind and I do not want to procrastinate, but I am struggling to get everything done especially since I have one or more exams a week. What are some tips for studying and being on top of things?
Is it worth becoming a nurse? I got accepted into my community's nursing program and I am set to begin this august but I'm so nervous! Would you say its worth going to nursing school, even through working and hard times?
I used crash course, khan academy, and was the nerd who sat in front and asked/answered questions. Be involved in the class, and get a little ahead in readings so the lectures reinforce rather than confuse you.
for both my A&P classes we had weekly quizzes which was great because it forced you to study along the way and not procrastinate... every week I would make my flashcards of everything in the chapter for the quizzes and it was great because then when it came to midterms/finals I already had all my flashcards made and just had to study them

MiamiPush2theLimit this reminds me at this moment for college algebra. >_>
I was striving for it for about ten days, then realized just passing was my goal.

SAME!!!!!

2 Corinthians 1:3-4
Cari Thank you!
I was always a procrastinator who never studied, and got A's easily. Until i took my first Anatomy & Physiology class haha

I always recommend recording lectures and immediately listening to them right after class and use them to make your own bullet point study guide.

Charleneeeee_d work it!
That's a great tip on Test anxiety. Every test I wish for more time to study for it. This is gonna help me a lot, thanks!
Should be studying for physio, instead i'm watching this
I bet there are some nurses who _did_ get at a 4.0 but are horrible.
Crz4wizard I’m sure there are! Just like there are nurses who barely passed who are “horrible.” GPA does not equal a great nurse! :)
There are def. nurses you have a 4.0 but are awful. Ive seen it in my own program. They're socially awkward and dont know how to interact with people.
TheLtrain85 but social interaction doesn’t make u horrible at nursing necessarily lol
I wish I can "triple like" this! I will definitely do this when I start nursing school this year! 😄 A 4.0 will definitely look good when I want to go to a nursing grad program!
Omg! Thank you for this video!!! Please make more videos like this! I feel like a lot of viewers are still students ☺️☺️
Love all the tips!!! Always preview notes, test, &exams then review the material 3 times. Yes 3 times ! It's a LIFE changer!!🤓🎀
Justine Lindsey same! And tons of NCLEX questions!

4.0 is not necessarily, but I will be so happy,, very happy.. if I get a straight As in nursing school. I want to be a NP some day hehe.
What is your grading scale? We need a minimum of an 80% so in order to get a 4.0 I’d have to maintain a minimum of a 95%.
AlyssaAllDay is that you?!
I follow these steps already, butI start my core classes next semester... so I hope what I've been doing continues to help me. Above all, I know that God will help!! Thank you for the video !
Thank you for this video. It is inspiring and helpful for my first semester of nursing school. 👍🏼
Good vid! PLEASE make a video on how you did good on your science pre-reqs!
Did you work while in nursing school? My friend is in her second semester of nursing school right now, and she has told me that if you do not have to work while in nursing school - don't.
Kathryn Hoke in another video she said she worked about 20 hrs a week teaching piano
Thank you for these tips :) I'm in my final quarter and senioritis is setting in!!
Did you work during nursing school?
Oh Ashley!! You're awesome 😊
I have a rather strange question. Victoria Nunez I can't speak for all schools, but my school includes prerequisite GPA in the overall GPA. Best of luck!
Wonderful! Thank you for the Reply!
My mom is a nurse and her transcript has all her prereqs + nursing classes on it. She even has her LPN classes that she took in like 2010 on there.
This is super late, but once I got into nursing, my gpa become 0
I'm graduating with a 3.9 in May, I have a 3yr old and 5yr old and I work as an LPN. I wish I would've got a 4.0, but I tried my best.
K Klo that’s incredible! You should be proud!
@K Klo
Holy cow! That’s great! Great job, mom! 👏👏👏
Huh, 4.0? You are my role model!!
Lol, I cant even get above a 3.1 in nursing school and that’s with all A’s and B’s.
would you have consider become a doctor or why you really love nursing?

I noticed that when I was in school doing all the ATI's at once was helpful. May I ask what state are you in? And what school did you go to?

Hi Ashley, I'm just wondering. I hope you don't mind. May I know your personality based on the Myers-Briggs?
How did you studied for the teas? Do you think Kaplan or teas is better?
what scrubs to you wear and recommends?! thanks
Thanks 🙏

This is inspiration
what was your GPA before nursing school?
How did you get a good grade in A&P 2? I’m struggling so much and just don’t know what to do! Any tips and study habits would be great
I used crash course ... it’s a channel on RUclips

What if I'm an anti-anti-procrastinator?
Twice as bad?
You guys are aliens
My sister left a program 3.8
