Only thing Scopely will listen to is their income going down. Not sure why they would try doing this when we are on the edge of a economic downturn. Many people don't have the extra money to spend and it will just turn people off. They should be focusing on trying to get people to spend $1-$5.

Thant thankfully I doubt. All the current Epic characters are team players not plug and play capable like Mythic or Legendary. So I really don't seem them being able to tune for a Zuggs, Captain Bullion, ZIM and 2 unknowns capable node. Captain Bullion needs another Illuminati member with him or he becomes much squishier.
I assume it is a temporary release method. It would be too easy prob for a high value toon, perhaps good enough to make apo redundant? It sucks we can't get him all. But why not link him to an event like scourges then? It seems odd.
Whales already have all the diamonds and crismon gear, now they need exclusive characters to win in Cc? Get good whales
Potentially locked out of the next legendary and in turn the one after that and in turn the one after that and so on and so forth.
Potentially locked out of diamonds depending on how many go ahead and buy him and how polluted Crucible becomes with him. Once everything down to Platinum is full with him its game over for the non-havers in terms of reliably obtaining any form of diamond orbs.
Potentially locked out various of characters and teams should they ever go back to win crucible instead of play to accumulate event points.
Potentially locked out of the main core source depending on how good the locked out legendaries are in Arena.
You really gotta stop and think about the knock-on ramifications.
It's also just occured to me, that if you miss this spending event, and it gets vaulted, you will be locked out of the top content of the game for the following year (trials, legendaries, towers) even if you decide to spend at a later time!
So imagine a trial comes out with some decent offers, but you didn't spend on Britain 5 months ago, meaning there is no chance you max out the current event, so there is no point spending on it or any subsequent event! Scopely are potentially going to lock people out of spending for the entire year!

I couldn’t agree more. They were ok the right path to make the game explode in growth. That’s how they can monetize better than squeezing a small community. Grow the community and get back to micro transactions
@@DorkyDadMSF Indeed, make the battle pass cost $1,- and see the switch in income. There is no incentive for the people that only have $5 a month to spend on a MOBILE game to spend anything. With this, CC just turned into another mode I'm not interest in anymore. I will drop in ranking and eventually find myself with people half my TCP. They are players that haven't invest much into the game and will drop out because it isn't fun anymore. It takes a long time to build up a good reputation and an extreemly short time to ruin it.

I’ve spent more this year than ever before because the game has been fun, though I’d still qualify as a light spender as described in the video. The ability to progress and be competitive has made MSF my go-to daily game. But this announcement and all the implications? Screw that. I’m happy to drop down to FTP and if it plays out they way you and MobileGamer discuss? I’m out. I’ve no interest in going back to the original delayed legendary unlock design given how prices throughout the game have gone through the roof. No single toon is worth that much money. I’d rather buy a PS5 and a couple of pay-once games and never launch MSF ever again.
Came back to mention that my MSF log in streak is currently at 2,259 days. It’d be hard to just walk away - but not impossible.

What we have here which has been going since the game launch is big spenders want to paywall they don't like getting crushed by light spenders ..last I heard a big number 1 alliance got rocked by a smaller alliance and they really get butt hurt 😅
Whales want a gap in pvp against light spenders and f2pers. While They have captain britain, they will win more CC battles, get the next legendary (that will also probably counter Captain Britain) So this will just make whales face more whales instead of us who either don't spend or spend little.
Watch this won’t just be an issue of CC gaps. With these many redirections and it affecting the next Legendary. I’d be willing to wager the next Legendary is for Arena. Even likely a Mephisto counter. If Captain Britain is as restricted as ZIM and Zuggs. They could effectively create a gap in Arena between the Krakens and Light-F2P that lasts an entire year.
That will also effect the Prof X unlock.

The reason they are having a 6 character team is because illuminati will be required for future legendaries and they want the players to have 5 characters to participate. Thats why they made it 6. They have never done that before for a brand new team. "Oh thats a shame you don't have CB but you do have five so thats enough. good luck fighting mephisto on that last node!"

Comparing this to the two zombie characters is apples to oranges. I have pretty much ignore those characters because there are a lot of other options in war and they are not required for a legendary unlock or other game modes. If they did something similar with spider society and/or alpha flight (which is likely if they can do it for a CC team), players would quit in droves.
Imo, people cry to much. We all know EVERY game or everything in life is pay to play. No one makes it to the top in any game without paying.
Furthermore, I could understand the out cry if ftp were constantly paired against whales, but that isn't the case. It's a fair leveled playing field.

Ever since the new game director took over, the game is sliding more into a pay to win feel. Not saying that Scopely can't make money, but it just seems like they are taking some of the great things that they implemented last year and pay walling it. I have been playing since the beginning and this is the first real feeling of wanting to quit. I buy the passes, so I am not 100% f2p.

I personally thought the requirements for OML were bad enough. We went from the scourges where it relied on strategy rather than pure star level. I maxed out my OoT and Cabal, but was stuck on the lower difficulty purely because of the star level on Starbrand and Leader. It just felt bad knowing I was missing out arbitrarily, particularly since I don't think those star requirements were announced ahead of time.
This method is a kick in the teeth. Not only is have a god tier CC def team, but to also gate the next legendary behind this is wild. You just know difficulty of the legendary campaign will be based around having Captain Britain too.
I recently started buying the battlepasses because I've played the game forever and felt it was a measure of good faith, but it hasn't been returned. Learnt my lesson and will stop spending.
Been playing for 67 days and was considering buying some passes but not now, I'll stay f2p. People who spend deserve to be appreciated, by the devs and the f2p players but not at the expense of the majority of the player base, that just stupid imo.

I've been playing since close to launch. I've never missed a character unlock. If CB is fully paywalled or the next Legendary is impossible I'm done.
I've bought passes before never characters and either way I'm 100% never spending again.
Everyone stop complaining. Buyers will still buy. Non buyers won't. Nobody will quit. This is all smoke. Scopely isn't going to change and neither will you.

I see scopely is stealing some ideas from Swgoh,
They too have something like epic,
Except theirs is called Epic Confrontations,
Their Galactic legends are like our Dark Dimension characters
But instead of having have 20 - 25 characters
An Epic Confrontation requires 4-5 characters at maxed gier tiers with relics 5-7,
So making a new Epic Character for Msf, that will require 2 new characters at 5 yellow Stars, or maybe more in the future
I guess it depends on when they plan to set out Captain Britains Release event if its going to be right away or if will last for at least a month,
but either way Ftp dont stand a chance unless they buy the Strike pass which dont come out for almost 2-4 weeks after that characters intial release,
so yeah even then light spenders and ftp are screwed. in that regard.
Scopely are really leaning into pushing these paywalls all the way back up. its insane, they purposely are doing this because they probably the player base for MSF has already Platoed,
So yeah Msf is all down hill, they know they are people who will ride they game out, and not alot will join at this point, thats why their doing this.

With this new team coming out should I upgrade AlphaFlight or should I hoard for Illuminati? I don’t think upgrading AlphaFlight would affect my alliance or my crucible at the moment. They’re not really a spider-society.
Yeah, this sucks and feels bad looking at what they are trying to get away with for future updates/releases/characters. This sucks a lot more for the end game players or those who are competitive in CC. But, as a fairly new player who doesn't know what they're doing, this is just something I cringe at and move on. Even if I shelled out and bought this new team, I wouldn't be able to build them high enough for it to make a difference, and I barely fight against people who have these current new teams unlocked. I rarely see Alpha Flight or OML in my matches because I'm so far behind. There are other teams/characters/game modes I'm trying to focus and catch up on. As a new-ish player, yeah, this sucks, but I won't feel the effects of this until after they become unvaulted. I wasn't able to get OML and I barely run into him in the game modes. Maybe I'm wrong, but I feel like Scopely is also doing this now because the new players [who I'm assuming they're trying to keep] won't be affected too much.
Last week i beat a 130 mil player, me being 79 mil. He had 3D on all SPS and read gear on most toons in crucible.
This week similar thing, 125 mil guy, I beat him.
I won these matches cause i follow the community, i check out counters, i think about my attacks, and they don't, they have a bigger stick and they hope that gets them the win.
And when it doesn't? When a lowly player like mw beats them? They probably hate that.
This shit Scopley is pulling is not to get a bit more money from light spenders, I'm sure they already have data which shows this is unlikely.
This is to give the guys who do spend a lot a true advantage, an almost guaranteed win vs those who spend sporadically or not at all.
Keep making videos complaining. You guys keep bringing this to the forefront will help keep players angry, which this needs!!
This is actually good for people who are truly free to play. It takes the vast majority of the playing base out of the market of even considering spending and effectively levels the playing field. It makes people stop spending so willingly and actually participate in a more fair game state. I say f it just make them all 1k--put the entire cost of game operations on the few with so much money that they are actually willing to spend it on a boost in a game so they can sit in the top slots while everyone else is able to actually compete in a more balanced state. Sure, it sucks for people who have been willing to pay historically in spite of it being rather expensive and now it is that much more. But most players are not in that position. If they make it expensive enough, they could force a fair game state (except very few spending--let them spend) and fund their operation and themselves almost exclusively off of the filthy rich of the world who can afford digital shards for a single character in a game with hundreds of toons just for a short-term advantage in hopes it bleeds into a longer term advantage in hopes of getting ahead in a game that has no actual end except quitting. I kind of view it as "oh well, I'll get him when almost everyone else does then whenever they actually give us the f2p mats." If the cost is expensive enough, that would be the only way to view it...and no one would get captain britain until f2p releasable and he's just sort of a pseudo-toon that no one has but is in the game and thus nearly entirely moot as if he was not released at all.
I was till a few days ago a "moderate" spender ($80-120 a month). With the Illuminati release info I have ceased paying a single penny towards this game. Let it DIE!
I could see scopely reworking and nerfing Illuminati after captain Britain drops so they can fuck over the spenders next 🤣

Interesting. I have noticed that many of their milestone events require you to spend money to get points. And it's not like $5 it's 30-$100 because it's for new characters. I am on the verge of just going back to console gaming.
They depend on you guys. Spend the next week all doing content on a different game or something. All envoys decide on the same game play it and make content on that. Don't even mention MSF or Scopely. And make sure they know you all won't make any more content on MSF until they say something and correct it. Your twitch viewers will still show up. Hell they would think it's hilarious. Hell do reaction videos and content on RUclips Cat videos or something. If they don't say anything or correct it start making videos telling people to put the game down. Fuck them.
Most recent releases has been barely 4 stars, some 3 stars, getting shuri AND Hank to 5 stars probably will be $200-$400 only for the chance to get CAP britain thats insane

Frankly i've already gotten tired of these $ spending events & toon unlocks.
I spend here & there on the odd battle pass, but there is no way im dropping thousands of $ to get a toon or do an event.
Its frankly a slap in the face to the entire player community having 🐎💩 like these pay only events

Sounds like Scopely told the envoys to piss off in that call. I'd be mad too. I'm a returning player after taking last year off and am probably leaving again unless they change this. I've already had one foot out the door after the OML release, so this is probably it. Maybe that's the plan for them. Thanos snap the endgame FTP and replace us with new players that will enjoy the journey to endgame while spending on time heist and passes.

The powercreep is out of control in this game. Theyre jusy taking it to he moon, and its horrible for past teams. Every new team is absolutely bonkers, their kits and passives are several hundreds of words. Bullseye's passive is like 5 words. They need to find a way to rebalance old character kits and stats.
MSF was going in such a good direction since apoc, and now I'm confused how they just did a 180 switch back to the same terrible habits.
As an alliance leader in a top 100 raid and war alliance who has spent $700 per month on average during my time with the game, I will be quitting the game if Cpt Britain unlock is not changed to accommodate f2p.
I returned to the game, quite a few months ago now, and it has honestly felt like it’s going the right direction and getting better since then, I even started to buy a few cheaper packs here or there. This type of thing is exactly why I left in the first place and would very quickly become a reason to leave again. I understand not being able to 7* every character, but collecting characters is why I’m here and this is just anti-fun.

The true Krakens should be speaking out about this as well if they care about the state of the game they put so much resources into.
Krakens need whales. Whales need pass spenders. Pass spenders need f2p. If anyone of those links goes away the house of cards could come tumbling down.
The state of the game is dependent on having a great foundation, lets say f2p and pass spenders. This will give everyone someone to have a shot to beat a little easier than big punch ups or punch across. I know they're f2p out there that punch way above their weight, but thats the exception and they may not be able to do so if stuff like this continues. Therefore everyone one from Krakens on down need to fight this.

I usually buy 1 battle pass a month. It’s not much, but it’s $25 CDN a month. I putting that on hold until I see how this plays out. Maybe permanently
I think the game needs content that has some kind of path to it as long as they make it so you can grind for it without spending it shouldn't be that bad. It would be nice to have more things to work for. The economy has always been trash. You either buy the stuff or wait till it becomes obsolete and they open the flood gate. Going from counting miniscule amounts of things to having like 20k plus of the same thing that isn't valid anymore... feels bad.
Spenders already have diamonds to separate from non spenders. Making player vs player content about who spent more seems like a feel bad for all parties.
For anyone who is frusterated with scopely but still plans to continue spending, and does so using ultra cores, please consider being a little petty and buy what you want straight through the game instead of using the ultra cores bought through the webstore.
For those that may not understand the impact of this: Apple or Google (depending on your phone) take a percentage of the sale of in-app purchases. But by pushing ultra cores through their 3rd party webstore, scopely retains all sales. So by buying your usual things exclusively through the game you can continue to play the way you're used to and still help get this message across by hitting scopely where it matters most to them, their wallets.
Wow... didn't realize it till you said something but your player engagement on this issue has tripled. We are loosing good players who have spent money. We arent rich people but this is our hobby. I've followed you and mobile for a long time. This is not blown out of proportion at all. Makes me feel like almost 6 years of game play is going down the toilet.
People will get angry but they won’t quit. They will also say they won’t buy this team but will at the end of the day. They know these two fundamental things. They also know that envoys (see Content creators) depend on the game for their income, so they will only go so far with the rage before they dial it back.

I think this will affect your views too. I look to content creators for advice on CC. Now you can either showcase your strategies to the haves or the have nots...but not both. If you are doing CC strayegy videos using CB, I might as well not watch anymore.

I'm a ftp player, but I understand that the devs need to make money. If Captain Britain is going to be paywall, it seems the best solution would be to make the free-to-play version better so that it's at least useful.

MSF is running out popular marvel characters they haven’t used yet, more and more duplicates to the point its hard to know which version someone is talking about, it feel like their now in the process of trying to force as much milk from a stone as they can before the game implodes
I wonder do you think its a coincidence that this news was dropped the weekend before the 4th of July long weekend. I am sure that Scopley will say that they are out of the office till middle of next week where they are almost certainly hoping the noise about this dies down. That said I think they made this decision knowing fell well the communities response would be negative and decided to do it anyway. So unless Scopley notices a sharp drop in the spending in the game they are not going to change anything. Unfortunately as a ftp player they don't care what I think. This is one instance whee we need to spenders to restrain themselves for a while and let that impact Scopley's internal numbers.
People who spend will always spend and non spenders wont, but the problem is like in my arena shard i have a whale/kraken i talked to him , he is a cool guy and just to show jhe likes competition and thats what makes it fun for him, for example he puts shitty defences just so people can beat him and then he can try and get back up there , the moment you kill f2p those type of krakens wich i think they are a few will prolly quit aswell or spend less just cause they wont have any competition at all and it will get boring
