- In this talk Dutch DJ/producer Julian Jordan talks frankly about how he became a DJ/Producer and how he manages to survive and thrive in this competitive world. He is at the vanguard of the country’s new generation of dance music hotshots, with a mightily impressive track record in his short time in the game. He brings a fresh spin to the dance scene, fusing some of its trademark sound and bombast with exciting new twists and influences that so far has seen the likes of MTV cite him as “one to watch”. “I have to say, I really like people that just do their own thing and don’t follow the hype.” he explains of his musical ethos. “I like to think outside of the box, and what inspires me are other artists who do that as well.” A slew of releases have proved that he is fully able to put his money where his mouth is, while DJ sets everywhere from Electric Daisy Carnival to Tomorrowland have made it clear that he is adept at translating this ethos for the dancefloor. “I know labels are looking for fresh tracks that could be the new hype. So, don’t follow the hype; create it!” This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx
he was nervous ( i would be too) but he managed to pull it off and explained a lot of important things thanks Julian!
Yess!!
I like the way how he said his father bought him fl studio just to not say the truth about him using cracked software ahahahah
JuPeter what u mean by cracked software
@@valentinarmenta4982 u are not a true producer if u don't understand this joke
@@cracknblast8247 it's not a joke tho many do that
@@jd3455 I know it isn't a joke. I do it for a matter of fact
It IS funny though, literally, how he made up for the fact that he pirated fl studio
Didn't know Julian Jordan had a TED talk, that's awesome :D completely killed it!
Yes dude!!
I'm annoyed when certain people compared Julian to Martin like geez come on... they're bfam
Agreed!
Strongly agree
Whats bfam?
Tyler Durden Brother From Another Mother

@@djvalkind true that
@@cdjwmusic really? I didn’t know that
I can hear his dutch accent and sentence structure. Amazing still, so many good dj’s and producers are dutch. Proud of my country. Im gonna use this, and hope to stand there some day too.
It's so beautiful how art creates more art. Julian was inspired by Tiesto to make music. And now he's inspiring millions (like me) who are simply bedroom producers. I make music too and upload it to my channel!
I am 15 and I have a dream.
It is so cool how he said Tiesto's song made him want to make music since Julian's song "Rock Steady" is what got me into producing! Although he says it wasn't the best here, I still really enjoy that song since it has a deep meaning and influenced me. Now after 6 years of producing, I got my first contract.
So many DJs starting on their Teens. Im 25 and already feel too old to start this. I have a finance job that I hate but pays very well, part of me says I should really chase DJing no matter where that leads.
You can work your job and DJ! Do it man!
I'm 29 and work in IT, started doing DJ and music production this year. It is never too late. You will regret more if you never try
Im twice your age, still have the good paying job and still chasing the dream. You are never to old. Keep going!
Amazing speech Julian! 👍😊
You are a winner. Thank you for sharing us some of your behind the scenes struggle as well.
Dit is zo ver weg van je comfortzone ! Heel knap gedaan, goede TED Talk !!
The world is full of amazing people. You can do anything if you put your mind to it! ❤️
Woah We're almost same. I started too producing music in 13 and it's been 3 years and I'm 16 yo now. Wait for me Spinnin' Records !!!

Great presentation Julian, well done.
Great speech Julian!
alot of the times before the big fame, you have to able to be alone without feeling lonely. often people don't think you will make it, and just talk you down. you have to be able to be alone without feeling lonely.
he didn't mention the fact that Martin was his friend and they backed up each other to success...
good talk though
I watched this two times....& i shared it with my friends
It's the best Tedx ❤️ my favourite STMPD artist - JJ 🤙
I'm pretty sure succes is spelt wrong 8:30

WowWW ..... Whatt a lesson ... It means a world to me
Ballsy to do that; clearly was nervous but powered through
Anyone know what's the forum he was talking about?
Best of luck to u and me. ❤
When Tiesto is the root of all the Inspiration...
What are good forums right now to share music?
Nice dude! There is a couple of mistakes like success wrote wrongly, but Interesting.
What is the forum called??
didnt realize there was so much involved
You only need to make a lot of music before getting some money, then if it works out well you could just hire songwriters and producers to make music for you like Garrix to mention one, all you do after that is write some simple ideas that they will develop and supervise their work to make sure it's good stuff before release. Finally you'll hand the track to professional sound engineers to get it mixed and mastered properly. The hard part is the beginning. Make bloody good music.
so what did we learn from this talk - having a team is important, especially a spell checker.
Thanks for the confidence and I too am a 13 year old producer
I've set myself a challenge to mentor 10 people to make it as a professional dj - check out my challenge if you're interested!
Road 2 Professional DJ How do these lessons work? I’m really lost and could use some help:(
