I recently made an army base with a foam mountain range, and while not free, there are specialty primers by army painter that are for the foam and cost about a dollar more than a gallon of glue. combined with textured plaster over top the foam and there was zero melting when I hit it all with chaos black! I know yall have a pretty solid budget for modeling and i hope yall give it a shot some time!
Looks a lot like some places I've lived in. May I make one suggestion, as one broke terrain maker to another? Skip using miniature paints and go with acrylic craft paints. Apple Barrel is about as cheap as you can get, and for the colors you use a lot of, have a pint of acrylic house paint custom mixed to match your craft paint. In the US, I do this at WalMart. about a dollar for a 4 oz bottle of craft paint, and around 7-8 dollars for a pint mixed to match. MUCH cheaper than mini paints!
Lukas ... You justify stealing xps foam cos you were out of boxes.... Then later you have more cereal boxes to make the base. It was totally immersion breaking! I am starting to think perhaps Emil pays you properly and you just angling for a raise for new fresh threads and fancy tats! ❤
Not to mention that I am always finding two part epoxy resin in the garbage for free, along with LED light kits.... still a good example of building on the cheap, but didn't exactly keep with the theme all the way through. Not like he said the whole thing had to be free though, you can save money on some stuff to afford the other things. Anyway I was just feeling pedantic today. Love me some Squidmar all the same.
You really need some distance from the can to spray foam with standard spray paint. It's mostly the accelerant that eats foam. Something like 12-18 inches...
Its great to see you guys build a cheaper project for a change rather than the most expensive kits like titans, mantas, etc. I enjoy the we made something out of trash video's as people could realistically copy you guys and build their own then. You skipped what you did the spider webs with? cotton wool balls pulled apart or some glue or spray stuff? I know you did spider webs before in the past I just can't remember which video it was in.
Great build, I bet Norman Bates mother would love it there. I have but one teensy nitpick / question, was there are reason you didn't smooth out the transition between the slope leading up to the house and the ground around it? It seems a bit weird visually, cause everything else has been "blended" so nicely together.
I swear, these two must hold the whole countrys pinkboard supply hostage. I bet people have to beg their case to get some released for its designated purpose. 😂 (I cant talk, i see all that foam and go into Halloween palpitations)
