These things happen. I remember a company that put out a "mad bomber" fig the week before 911. Not they're fault, not your fault. Keep up the good work.
Great job on the factory. It looks amazing and now i know what a saw tooth roof and a muntin is. also, the alarming close-up was very effective. I heard tutorials work best when watched like a Bourne Identity fight scene.
Reminds me of the old joke...How many bluegrass musicians does it take to change a lightbulb? Seven. One to change it, and six to complain that it's electric!
Simple builds like this when executed by a pro are just great. Anyone can do them and if you take a little extra time they look A+. Great video, man! Would love more of these simple and versatile builds.
great video.young peoples can use these videos to learn for school projects. as for the war goes on,i am 70yrs.old and a war was going on then and one will be going on when i died.you just do your channel and teach peoples how to have fun.this old man will keep watching.
Another useful, well-made video. Despite the shaky cam. Well done, sir! For those who do not have a 3D printer: Check with your local libraries. In the USA, many of them have one that they will let you use. You will have to pay a small fee, of course. Not all libraries have one, but a surprising number of them do.
goes hard as always, windows were a great touch. 3D printed bits add so much when combined with more traditional methods of terrain making, they look so good when mixed together well.
Great build! The sawtooth roof and explanation is the kind of attention to detail and research that I really appreciate from your channel. Keep up the good work!
I can never un-see muntins now on all those abandoned buildings that I love so much. Great build; you are in fine form even though I suspect kind of sleepless these days. Congrats on the build and belated congrats on the kid!
Very cool look to this, Eric. The roofline and muntins (today I learned) add a ton, and it's great to see RFD's techniques spreading. That guy is seriously good at urban terrain.
I really like it. Something different than the usual industrial builds. Looks simple but very nice. I like these kind of styles to sell a (for me) realistic industrial district.
Grew up in Buffalo, New York and spent much many hours playing in abandoned factory buildings, catching pigeons and the like. What almost every one of them had [and something that would add to your gaming experience] were catwalks. Some were actually quite elaborate, spanning large areas and consisting of several layers, connected by stairs. Something you might consider in future builds. Also, I don’t recall any of them that didn’t have at least one overhead crane. You do excellent work, by the way.
I think it is really cool that you add some educational factors about your builds. From historical value in the Warhammer vids, to learning about common architecture in factory buildings, you always keep the inspiration and interest for crafting. Great work!
Hey! I loved the video. Great introduction to your channel and I’ll definitely be subscribing! For the lettering on your sign you can totally use your current printer, you just need to get a .25mm nozzle head. They are perfect for small detail prints and make words way more readable!
Damn fine looking factory- and I would LOVE to see more terrain like this, absolutely. Silver lining would be that it would have multiple uses; outside of just straight-up fantasy, it wouldn't feel out of place wherever you, uh, placed it. Enjoy your upcoming weekend.
Thankyou for this "easymaking" piece of terrain. I eventually followed the instructions and built the same with my boy, not as good as yours but still looks very good! We are now thinking about so many scenarii to play with it!
Very nice work! I think some sort of basic masked off color blocking would help visually break it up a little, like a broad color strip along the ground, like 3 feet tall, one or two of the panels being an off colored metal, etc... But man, overall that turnout out really stunning, and would look great on any table!
The bland colour scheme is a frequent critique of my work, and fair enough, people have different preferences . But i intentionally keep my pieces somewhat drab and monotone due to their role as background terrain. If i have my bright red blood angels fighting green biel tan in front of this building, the whole scene reads better if there are no contrasting colours interjected by the background terrain piece.
Really love this build - it's got everything. It looks great, would fit on a variety of battlefields, and it's really gameable with the walkways and space for a tank to trundle through. Great job. I'm tempted to give it a go myself, just a bit concerned about storage. But I could probably make it as two separate L pieces, or make the top and bottom floors separately?
I love this build and your channel in general been subscribed for a long time. A cheaper alternative for the windows instead of using a 3D printer is to just cut thin strips of medium-weight chipboard like you did for the I-beam and then glue them into a grid that fits your window cutouts. A lot faster and you won't develop carpal tunnel and you don't need a 3D printer.
I recently discovered your channel and am eating up the content. This use of oils is the first time I've not been annoyed with oil usage (I feel like everyone is doing the oil wash thing right now...) Great job
You know, if you mixed in a bit of fine sand with the modpodge and paint when you went over the parts that would be metal, it would improve the rust effects.
Eric, I ALWAYS love your builds! So realistic, and I love the background research you do to make them look that way! Here's something that I think about though... Where is the rest of the building that collapsed? Did somebody come along and neatly clean up the debris but decided to leave the rest of the dilapidated building intact? It's something I see constantly in a lot of "ruins" builds that otherwise look awesome. Maybe making the entire building and then destroying pieces of it, to leave scattered would give just the right amount of debris that should be left over. You started it here with the collapsed roof, but what about the walls? Look at reference photos of ruined buildings and walls. The debris is pretty much NEVER taken away. Even in really old structures it's always there somewhere. I practically never critique your artwork because it is SO amazing. But I feel like adding appropriate debris that makes it look like part of the building actually came down (and didn't just get eaten by a interdimensional vortex or something) would make it so much more realistic. Seriously, the rest of the structure looks AMAZING, it's just that little detail that keeps it from looking completely realistic.
In some cases, like Mordheim, the collapsed building pieces have been taken away to build barricades or be burnt for fuel. In this case, there is a significant amount of wreckage and rubble in the building, but there are always tradeoffs between realism, playability, fragility, and how much time you invest into the model
@@EricsHobbyWorkshop Agreed Eric. Definitely a tradeoff in what the builder is going for. This one probably isn't even the one to pick on because there is a bit of debris added in. Cool build regardless. Thanks for taking the time to respond!
This is a great and simple piece, thanks for sharing, would enjoy seeing more builds like this, and then eventually all of them together on a table top, maybe even with a vide oof a game being played, congrats!
Have you considered making terrain for smaller scales, like 15 or 6mm? That'd be kinda cool to see your take on it - and how different the amount terrain you might end up with.
Nice one Eric. Kudos for the shoutout to RFDHobby. Actually guys, this fellow has recently had his house burnt down in a fire. Thankfully nobody got hurt, but the house itself is completely ruined. It would be good from the community to support him anyway we can. At least go check his channel and like and comment on his videos.

I never noticed that about sawtooth roofs being the universal symbol for "factory". Wow. Nice build too!
One of those things you will never unsee!
The instructions on bringing a file from illustrator to blender is going to be a game-winner for me. Thanks!
Nice!! I knew someone would appreciate that!

😂
So glad you chose to design and print those windows in the end....
Welcome to the dark side of crafting.

Fantastic!!! Also loving the blender to 3D print tutorial in addition to your usual crafting madness.... well done!!
Thank you very much!
I am very intrested in seeing more of these builds! This one is so darn playable and i really admire the thoughtfulness you put into making it so.
I love the harvesting of the paint water for the wash.

Didn't seem to take that long but really fleshes out your battlefield/industrial terrain
Exactly the inspiration I needed for my scratch building today.

Thanks for the tip on the paper towel for oils, it explains a lot.

I’ve just returned to your videos after a few months absence, and your skills and kit are a step-up. Great work mate 👍
Great for gameplay - awesome usage of corrugated cardboard

Excellent content. Stepping up the game when it comes to terrain is a must in today's game.
Great job on the factory and you are a Good Man for the donations.
honestly i could see myself doing this. like a lot of other build guides i wouldnt really attempt, but this looks pretty beginner friendly :)
Great build! Love the corrugated paper and your 3D printed windows look epic. I’ve been thinking of doing a factory type build for a while.
Definitely interesting in more quick and simple scifi/modern builds like this.
I’m trying to make my own table top board game so these modern/sci-fi ruins will help me out. Thanks Eric, and keep up the good work.
I've been struggling to finish a similar project, but this gives me inspiration!

Interesting concept for European factories, well executed. Cheers Eric.
Thanks Atholl!
epic build! i bought some foam board yesterday im gonna try making something like this
The tutorial I didn't realise I needed. Cheers Eric.
