It never even occurred to me that there are people who have the capability to look at basically anything and then create a 3d model, that skill might as well be magic to me because it's so far beyond what I can do.
It's so interesting that Emil has slowly but surely become more of a "Miniature artist" who does videos about his and his team's artwork, rather than a "mini painting youtuber".
so many ideas that just have to come together. Painting in layers in resin with miniatures has such a wide landscape to be explored. Get out there guys!
This is by far one of the most impressive projects I have seen in hobby painting, maybe even RUclips. Even if it was absolute pain, I and many more enjoyed it!
When cutting the mould you should cut it in a rough pattern instead of a straight line. This will make the two halves of the mould match up better much easier and avoid mould slippage if you ever reuse moulds.
That work paid off guys. Nothing worth having comes easy and that thing is a thing of absolute beauty. Make sure it has a prime spot in your workshop, it certainly deserves it!
as a mini painter i really don't give a hoot about mobile games but the idea of being able to print and paint some of the characters from raid does sound super cool!
I think that the slight cloudiness of the resin actually works for the scene because it makes the air look like its so cold you can see it. Really cool work.
The fact you almost took a month to make an add shows How fucking strong and focused you guys work. It was amazing to see and I hope we can enjoy more Dioramas in the future.
Amazing! I really enjoyed this video, thank you! For everyone who wants to do something similar though, CRT tubes in televisions can be very dangerous! The tube can hold very high voltage (even when it has been turned off), and it is under a very strong vacuum. This means it can implode when it breaks, with glass going everywhere. Just felt like someone should point this out.
this should be pinned by Squidmar so everyone sees it before embarking on their own CRT-diorama ...the result of which is both stunning and highly original - so darn good it could tempt a younger generation unfamiliar with TVs from 20yr ago!
As a games VFX artist I can tell you that we often use "heat distortion" aka refraction that warps the image, intentionally. These resin imperfections look exactly like something a VFX artist would add in! You guys could even take it a step further and intentionally make more distortions around the weapon or where weapon trail would be. Anyhow, great job. It looks awesome. These UI health bars were a genius idea.
I think what I like best about your projects is that they're easily achievable for anybody at home...with an unlimited hobby budget and no job so the time to do this 😂 Great video as always! 👍
First of all. I love all the work and videos you guys produce! BUT I am so glad, that I'm not the only one who has problems with how the resin cures, leaks and so on :,D This was really reassuring and refreshing because it halted my productivity when I faced the dread called "Clear Cast Resin." Thanks a lot guys
Next level. I would have liked an additional 5 mins focussed on painting the two minis (as they’re cool sculpts, and mini painting in the channel’s bread and butter), but the video/project was still a 10/10.
This video alone has reinvigorated me to start painting again. I have been just an armchair miniature hobbyist that lost the hobby after moving from US to Europe. My kide are even painting now too! We are getting closer as family because of you and your team. Thank you Emil.
Just watched this 6 months late! What an amazing effort to commitment and completion of the vision. Brilliantly original idea. What a grinding effort, but what a result. Stunning work guys 👍
Love how you used so many different mediums! From miniature painting (of course) to acrylic painting, terrain building, resin painting, and electronics!
Looks awesome! Pro Tip if you make jagged cuts in the silicone the two parts will index back together better and you wont be as likely to get mold slip!
Phenomenal job, and extremely imaginative too! Wonder what a collab between you and Nerdforge would look like. She's no stranger to minis, and her diorama/resin game is off the charts.
I can see that this is a struggle, and I appreciate that you have shown that especially since I am trying to start making cool stuff like this and knowing you all struggle too makes it less frustrating.
Awesome job! By adding some particles in the crystals or make them some kind of milky, the shining of the led could even look better because the whole Crystal would glow with less spots at the led area and the edges.
Such an awesome idea. Please never stop with this, its such an inspiration and i learned so much from this channel because of you! Thank you very much!!!
Awesome! You are so adaptive. Every time I screw up something I just get blocked and don't know how to solve it while you always have ideas to overcome the problems and the result is brilliant
Wow! That is insane. I had no idea how that was going to turn out, but it looks amazing just from the quick reveal. You need to give us more and longer reveals, lol! I bet it looks even better in person.
As someone that does a lot of 3D printing, buy some clear resin. Pour enough to fill your vat into a container and use inks to get it the color you want. Saves a lot of time and headaches of trying to vacuum out and cast parts. Both the chest and ice crystals could have been done at the same time (And even pre-hollowed for the lights) saving you time. Still an amazing piece!
Hey Squid, you know we watch these to learn new techniques. Right?. Sharing your failures is more helpful than you may realize. I am looking to do more with resin, but do I really need a pressure pot? Love your channel.
Watching these types of videos are so awesome! So far in my hobby career ive only painted models, but this type of content makes me want to branch out and make dioramas or similar things!
This project was beyond impressive! I always think you can't get better than what you've already done and then you go and prove me wrong by making even more awesome stuff. Genuinely incredible, easily in my top five favourite videos of yours. The health bars were such a nice touch
And who is holding this big heavy baby? Because resin weights a ton ^^ I very like the idea of putting the HP and magical effects into the resin, it's bright!
Wonderful. While it looks like somewhat of a nightmare in project, at the same time I can't help but imagine you learned so much that will be valuable in some way later. Thank you for this great video.
You should have done what dice makers do, they use a pressure pot to shrink the bubbles. Plus the bare foam is porous, you should have painted them to get them glossy smooth. Your casting foam worked perfectly, it will pick up any small details. You should try machinist wax, after you are done casting you can melt down and reuse it.

Lame.
Coming from someone named miles
It's been really cool to see you guys try your hand at bigger building projects like this, and it's great to see when things don't go right too!
Pinsam sponsor 🤦♂️
It´s been real fun to work with you Emil, hope we can repeat soon!

That's why his channel is so good!
This is amazing :D Love the creativity of using the TV as the set for the scene!
Im just imagineing a collaboration right now and now i realy want one

I'm sure Bob Ross would be in complete approval of every bit of your happy background, Lucas. Fantastic work!
Amazing !!
My god, so much resin. Well worth it in the end, looks phenomenal Emil!
Thx knarbius 🥰🥰
@@SquidmarMiniatures How much did it weigh?

It's the fact that you accepted a raid shadow legends sponsor. That's what cursed it.
Huh, making Raid content that is actually interesting? Well done Emil. Last time I’ve seen something like that, it was Internet Historian.
Thanks for the kind words🥰
When Lucas free handed that backdrop. Amazing.
The fact you almost took a month to make an add shows How fucking strong and focused you guys work. It was amazing to see and I hope we can enjoy more Dioramas in the future.
Wow. 50 YEAR OLD TV diorama turning Emil & Lucas insane! Your perseverance on this project was LEGENDARY!
Wow this is the highest effort I’ve ever seen put into a raid ad
Can't wait to visit the Squidmar museum one day
This is such a cool project. I really like the concept of layered resin pours, it's such a clever method for some nice looking 3d effects. Well done!
This was one of your best vids. The Highest highs and the lowest lows...all for a 25 minute ad. Seriously...you guys outdid yourselves
🥰🥰 is not all an ad though, we did love the project
@@SquidmarMiniatures Oh I mean no disrespect by saying it's an ad. This was gorgeous work and ads can be art too!

Exactly what I was thinking (from someone old enough to grow up with only a 16 inch black and white TV, with a dial to tune!)
I was going to comment the very same thing! Do not attempt to dismantle a tv by yourself, get the help of a professional to remove the CRT tubes!
This was my first thought as well.
I’m in awe of your creativity.
Cheers for the free entertainment you Sweet Swedes.
I personally really like these longer videos and especially diorama production because you guys kill it every time! Keep it up Emil and the gang
I like them too, but this took soooo much time to make 😅
@@SquidmarMiniatures yea, I made the comment half way through the video! I had no idea what was in the second half! Lol
@@Gundumb_guy but who knows what the future holds:)
I actually think that the distortion from the resin looks really cool. It looks like the power of the strike is heating up the air.
Tbh the cloudy resin makes it look like there is magic in the air, almost like a heat mirage, but magic!
Amazing job! I may be blind but I didn't even see the crack... The freehand is absolutely incredible!
This is one of the coolest things I’ve seen on this channel
The only acceptable Raid ad.

Now this is the best advertisment I have seen for that mobile game stuff - you absolutely nailed thst cooperation!
Despite being cursed, that is an amazingly beautiful build. Wow! Well done.
Thanks for sticking with it for our benefit guys! You did a great job in spite of all of the mess this project made for you 👏
I can't believe it. You made me sit through an entire ad for Raid Shadow Legends. Something I thought impossible!
Well, ok, I skipped the actual ad :p
Love how you used so many different mediums! From miniature painting (of course) to acrylic painting, terrain building, resin painting, and electronics!
really nice result, i love the blue lights from the crystals.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who drops my minis and have to crawl on the floor looking for them.
The bubbles you need a pressure pot to get them out of the resin. The vacuum pump helps but the pressure pot help when your like curing
Awesome guys! Looked like so much fun to build (even with all the issues)... And Victor did an amazing job!
Lukas is the MVP, hope you're paying him well!
I’ve seen people use hot glue sticks or hot glue that’s been melted to make clear crystals but carving them and adding paint, keep up the great work!
Looks awesome! Pro Tip if you make jagged cuts in the silicone the two parts will index back together better and you wont be as likely to get mold slip!
Great end result, and leaving in the fails helps us all😉 remember perfection is a goal not an achievement level😊
Incredible piece of art! You guys should be so proud
The cloudiness in parts really add to the diorama, almost gives a look of an aura radiating from the fight. Looks freaking awesome.
Bet you were glad to get that one done wow. What an Inspiration. I still feel so honoured to be alive with you making content like this. A lesson. 👍

You absolute madman! Hey, we dont have a miniature for this. Let's comission a sculpter to make, not one but two models for us! Awesome job!
Very cool diorama, painful watching all that trouble. Impressive tenacity!
