can't tell u how much this video means to me because it really cemented for me what i want to do (finally, at almost 30 yrs old). thank you!
Great advice, and I love your prose about the importance and beauty of art. One thing I always tell people is they get caught up in the tutorial loop they rely on other people's creativity and what they solved they never do work on their own.
Wow, essentially there is no tutorial for art, it's the freedom of expression. The only thing you do is remind us what art really is. I feel like an artist now, thank you. It seems in the end, all I needed was a shift in perspective.
Man... this is just fantastic, the sheer amount of consolidated information is astounding (not to mention the therapeutic tone it has hahaha)
This was truly helpful! I'm trying to learn pixel art by myself but when it comes to look for reference and tutorials, I never know where to go, thank you!
Also inspiring, great video!
I watched this video today, 07/27/2022, subtitled and translated into Portuguese, it took me 01:27 (one hour and twenty-seven minutes) to go back and stop to absorb the concept you wanted to convey in the video, I signed up immediately, that's all made me sad was to see that the channel stopped 1 year ago.
great teachings this video contains. I'm going to learn a lot and I hope you come back with work because yes you are a master.
watching in Brazil, Rio de Janeiro
Wow I didnt think I would stay for the whole thing but I was blown away by this video. Subbed keep up the good work!
I once made pixel art for a game in high school and now I have something on my heart inspired by my children but I don't know where to get started again, so thank you.
Came here for a tutorial but now I feel more motivated than ever to pursue my dreams of creating art and stories. That was an awesome tutorial and the ending was so nice.
Not only i got a proper entry tutorial, but as well as inspiring words, man i'm burning with passion in making games right now.
Also i just got fired from the IT industry and decided to pursue game development, the very reason i became a programmer. Thanks for the tips and also man i'll share this with my friends Thank you so much!!
Came back to the video after applying everything you talked about. It’s the perfect video for someone starting out in my opinion. Helped me go from zero to level 3 goblin - not quite the protagonist yet but I’m levelling up. But in all seriousness, I have been using assets from unity store for a long time as I never thought I had any artistic ability but this video helped me a lot. I grinded and I’m making art that is somewhat game worthy so thanks a lot. Hope you have a nice day!
You have just been added into my "Beautiful Things" folder.
Thank you.
Just watched this with my son and we both left feeling inspired and encouraged. Thanks for putting exactly this into the world!
Dude
that, has genuinely been one of the most helpful and enjoyable to watch tutorials about pixel art.
Because of this video, now i want to actually start making pixel art :v
You did a seriously great job on this, keep it up man.
thank you for introducing me to miniboss. out of all of the tutorials i’ve watched this one has been one of the best. thank you.
20 year game dev here. Those are mighty inspiring words there toward the end, even for someone who has seen a lot of stuff in the industry like me. I really hope you keep making videos. Thank you!
Bro. Great video. I took a lot away from this including some things I didn't even know I needed to hear. Keep up the good work!
I will admit to having self-doubt, 'can i do this?', 'am i wasting time?' but watching all the way to the end, it made sense for me, and i felt more confident, that yes i can, and the resources are all there, regardless of my level, so long as i keep trying and finding that fun, either now or along the way. So thank you very much Alvin for alleviating my doubts and showing me the resources that can help me, great tips and great video! =)
You can almost anything anyone else can don’t give up 😊when it comes to art you got just work at it over time if keep going you will grow and improve
i tried getting into pixel art years ago and you touch so many points I wish I saw sooner that would have helped rather than discourage me 😭
The motivational speech at the end is something you don't find in a lot of tutorial/guide videos c': Thanks for all the hard work you put into creating free tutorials Alvin!
Hey Alvin, those 20 minutes just flew by, I love your videos, time well spent!
I loved the video. The best pixel art / philosophy video I have watched. Now I want both do pixel art for life and be real with my parents.
I'm not even an game dev, but I have a big love for pixel art graphics! I normally do normal scale digital art, but pixel art is very fun to learn to do myself! Even if many pixelart tutorials are meant for games, I still appreciate all of them since that's the look I'm going for. It really is a fun hobby of mine, but I decided to get Aseprite anyway, so I looked up help and tutorials and happened to find yours, haha. Really helped me to get in a better mindset!
Like many people have said, you have a very soothing voice that lets me absorb all the information better. Thank you very much, this has been very helpful!
( I especially liked "All art is a struggle. Forever. Always." Which is SO very true, and no art platform should be underestimated. )
This is my favourite RUclips video I have ever watched. Thank you for blessing us with it ❤
Great video, I loved all the info, the pace of the video and that ending was the cherry. Got my sub.
