    I think the most frustrating thing as a 42yo once-graphic artist is that, when I was in elementary school, my best friend and I used to create our own games on paper, compete with hand-made pixel art characters on graph paper. I never translated it to a digital skill, though, even though I had the Tandy draw program available, and I find now that I need to relearn what I intuitively grasped as a kid all over again. Here we go...

    what pixel art program you draw on?

  • @mistery8363
    @mistery8363 2 месяца назад

    9:14 not necessarily, that's only the case if the light source is warm: despite what many tutorials affirm natural light is white, not yellowis., Furthermore lighter/darker colors aren't necessarily less/more saturated, chroma is also a factor in that. Otherwise great tutorial!

    Pixel art is a hobby of mine that I've done for years and I certainly wouldn't call myself professional so take what I say with a pinch of salt if you must. I do admire your commitment to your game and you clearly have great work ethic which all lends well to finishing a game, but I can certainly see that you still have ways to go before calling your pixel art professional. The Sphinx for example could be improved in so many ways, anatomy, better use of light to create more volumetric shapes, cleaner clusters and more. I'm not saying it's bad, but I'm not going to tell you it's great either, it's perfectly good for what you're doing. Keep learning, keep improving, and most importantly, enjoy what you're doing.

    • @MythicBeanProductions
      @MythicBeanProductions Год назад +4

      That kinda depends though doesn't it? I mean, I'm very new to it, but sometimes going for a more simplistic style can be just as good as a more detailed style. Sometimes I've actually used more simple things to give the idea of a more complex thing with minimal effort

    • @nah2106
      @nah2106 Год назад

      @MythicBeanProductions the thing is a lot of the simple design choices are made out of necessity, if you don't know how to do anything besides it you are going to stick with it. I wouldn't really say it's professional and there's a lot that could be improved apon, regardless of the style

    As a beginner pixel artist it would be great if you made a tutorial for setting up ones canvas talk about how to adjust resolutions for saving the image as a png and maintaining the color and sharpness of the image. I'm really struggling with these things, everytime i save my pixel art the colors look desaturated and blurry even though I'm scaling up by 2 my resolution each time I save an image.
    Any tips would be great!

      it's harmful to your art skills in the long term if you begin with pixel art. Learn the fundamentals with digital art first, and then just apply them to pixel art. a lot of people make the mistake of thinking pixel art as separate from other types of digital art.

    Honestly your pixel art isn't very impressive and def not "professional". It's not bad but I even disagree with the points made about scale and the big one is over-detailed to its own detriment

    • @ScilexGuitar
      @ScilexGuitar Год назад +5

      Who determined whats "professional" or not. If he makes a game with this art that sells well, then its professional

    • @Lexie_T
      @Lexie_T Месяц назад

      You're clueless mate. Clearly you have some vision of objectively correct pixel art, when the reality is that many styles are professional, and you just aren't fond of this one. Undertale is the prime example of art that is iconic and certainly professional without being the exact style of, say, FF6.
      The problem isn't this guy's art. It's your misunderstanding of how art works.
