Whenever you issue an attack command on an enemy hero, it triggers the aggro in a circle around you. The aggro lasts for 2.5 seconds and the cooldown of triggering it is also 2.5 seconds. Long ago both were 2 seconds.

The only extra lesser known thing is that creeps will wait until their attack animation is complete before moving to another target, which is important in last hitting situations if you ever wondered why the creep you tried to get closer to you didnt move as soon as possible

Damn, been playing this game for over a decade, learned something new when he did the tower demo. So you can still attack within tower range, just make sure youre doing it outside your own hero's aggro range of the tower....

just one thing I would add is that what makes the aggro change instantly is ISSUING the attack order so even if you do not attack or if the enemy you are right clicking is across the map, the aggro of enemies around you will still change to you

@@lesterladera3804 You can also use it to drag enemy creeps to your ranged creep so the enemy wave pushes into you. Along with denying, this a useful strategy when you are afraid to be killed or take damage from enemy heroes. But your are right, timber loves this very much :)

You didn't mention that you can use global map to aggro creeps when heroes are not close to you. For example, when you want to aggro with axe so you can spin and farm faster on a lane with no hero around.

@@Mizunooooo If your lane has no enemy heroes in it, you can target any other visible enemy hero on the map to draw creep aggro in your lane (as long as your in the creeps aggro range)

@@Mizunooooo Remember the aggro circle, around your hero, that he mentioned? If creeps are in that circle, they will aggro to you if you attack an enemy hero anywhere on the entire map. You can be in mid, stand next to creeps, and get their aggro by right clicking on an enemy hero in safe or off lane. If you use this trick while the enemy mid player is in highground fog of war, you may be able to trick them into thinking that you have a lane ward giving you vision of them. This happens because low to mid skill players expect you to only focus on your lane, so the thought that you are instead using heroes in another lane to draw creep aggro does not occur to some of them.

Also make sure you right click the enemy, not A + LMB. Think like there is a 500 AOE around the tower wherein you should not be inside so as to prevent getting aggro-ed.
This explains the meta of pos 4 Lina lately. 625 (or 650) attack range plus her third skill; she can harass you even in tier 1 tower.

You just attack a hero in another lane while standing close to creeps/tower. The attack command can be on any enemy hero globally, your positioning needs to be close to whatever you wanna aggro.

You say at the end it's delayed on some kind of timing: is it not that it'll switch to you when the creep being attacked dies?

The tower has priority rules when choosing the next target. If nobody aggros the tower by attacking a hero, then the tower will prefer to attack a unit attacking the tower itself. It will pick the closest unit attacking the tower. That's why sometimes you will notice the tower attacks your ranged creep when your melee creeps are fighting the enemy melee creeps next to the tower, but your ranged creep is attacking the tower. The same rules apply to you, if your melee creeps are attacking the enemy melee creeps but you are attacking the tower, once the creep the tower is attacking dies, it will target you(unless there is another unit attacking the tower and closer than you) Hope this is clear, there are more rules like the tower automatically changing aggro from siege units to other units because they have a lower priority than creeps and heroes

I'm talking about at the end of the video where he's showing what happens when you right click the enemy from out of aggro range: you run in and attack them, and the creeps don't switch aggro so you get a few free attacks off on the enemy. After a couple of seconds the creeps do switch aggro onto you. He says he thinks it's after a time delay, but it looks like it's just when they finish attacking their current target; i.e. when the creep they are attacking dies and they have to look for another.

@@sideshowfrost Ah, i see what you mean. It did look like that. But what it should be is there is a 2.5 second aggro cooldown, and the creeps will aggro to the 1st hit after 2.5 sec pass from the click outside the aggro range. You can see it at 4:32.

Sounds like booster-level farm. There is no way you dont have 80-90% winrate if you have 450CS avg minute 30.
