Awesome info, used to be an athlete as a teen, went through some disorder eating stuff. I’m in my mid 20’s and mentally ready to start monitoring my health. For someone like me, or whose been through my experiences (fitness obsession). Accurate information and finding a way to measure to keep track is key, and as you said progress.
Thanks for being critical of the technology. Some people may think that’s negative but it’s important. Also accurately assessing in technology will just help us come up with better technology in the future. I’ve totally been what you characterized as a gym person acting like they’re the ultimate fitness guru. Golds was not a good experience.
After watching a few of your videos and subscribing, I think I’ll go with the DEXA scan. One of the hardest things about fitness as you walk into somewhere and is often bombarded with the things I “need” my fitness journey. Another cases, that’s even more manipulative, I need whatever they want to sell me to succeed. As a result I really appreciate your videos and how in depth and the thoughts you give. Thanks so much, I’ll be looking out for more videos

@@amoldhillon1445 I just stopped worry about it for a while. But I’m college I saw a nutritionist at my university, I tried to keep at it. You just gotta keep at it. I was in an eating support group. That was cathartic. They accepted me even though I wasn’t thin like them. It was validating.

the thing is on the measurements is that im assuming theyre taken from the same place everytime?i might not be the size where you would measure bicep but you can use that as a datum from wich you can track future measurements from no?

I would not assume this to be the case. I'm relatively certain that this will also have some variance, which will just stack with all of the others margins of error. Probably best for capturing differences between 3 month snapshots, or longer, assuming that you're actually progressing. Shorter windows will be like watching the scale day-to-day... lots of noise.

@@jdogi1 I can confirm that since I commented I spent 5K on one of these machines and it is accurate in terms of measurements. it's taken from the same point each time as it's logged to a specific profile and it's good within 2mm. obviously it wont provide measuremtns for when your flexing but easily gauges growth or shrinkage accurately. also I've used it on a few clients within 4 week periods and the results are easy to see just by side in just 4 weeks! pretty good piece of kit tbh

Bioelectrical impedance is more garbage than any other form of body composition testing. I’d trust circumstance before that. Electricity travels path of least resistance. Drinks and food throw off number immediately. Skinfold or Circumstance measures best without Dexa or hydrostatic weighing since the measure itself is repeatable. Where the error comes is when you do the math to find bf% since you add in weight which fluctuates, so like any good test it should be similar time of day, similar diet pre test, etc. but at least you’ll have accurate measures for each spot of the body. Bioelectrical impedance gives you nothing.

With that, very good information and I hate to be too critical. You hit pretty much everything and I agree mostly (I just hate BIA). Thanks for the content!
