    May I know which school you went to for A levels? Cus, I’m going to finish my IGCSE in up-coming November. And, I’m a bit interested in attending A levels in the UK

    do you have any tips on how not to get burnt out/ overwelmed with school

    • @yanr4n
      @yanr4n  9 месяцев назад +11

      Some classic causes of burnout are not sleeping enough, exercising enough or socialising enough. All of these things are fairly easy to try and incorporate into daily routine, even just a 15min walk or a 5min phone call with a friend or 1hr extra sleep. If you think you're slacking in one of those areas then that might be the root of it all. Also, a(n unofficial) way of not getting burnt out that works for me is adjusting my mindset. I find that "romanticising" studying can help a lot. For me, making these videos helps, but also staying grateful makes studying seem less like a chore - if I manipulate myself into thinking that it's "a great opportunity" then it takes longer to get burnt out, because I'm more interested in completing the task.
      It's totally normal to feel overwhelmed by school - it's a lot to manage. A good way to tackle feelings of being overwhelmed and burnt out is to set a strict boundary between education and relaxation time. You might say that you're going to work all day at school, then continue to study straight after school, but you'll never study after dinner. That way you are giving yourself a large enough chunk of time for your brain to properly wind down in the evening, rather than feeling like your "breaks" are moments wedged between studying. It also might be work taking a step back and assessing the workload - it's not often that there's a qualification that requires you to get 95% for the top grades, normally it sits more around 70%. This indicates that you shouldn't know everything, so even if it feels like you haven't properly grasped some topics, bear in mind that even the top of the top students will feel similarly

    How many subjects to study a day and how many hours to spend on each paper
    I chose accounting, computer science and maths.

    how does this compare to when you were in year 12

    • @yanr4n
      @yanr4n  8 месяцев назад

      I personally followed this routine throughout both years of Sixth Form out of personal preference, but it's definitely not necessary to do so much work, especially in Y12. I like to stay busy, so I would even be tempted to say that I found doing revision comforting sometimes. A good general benchmark to aim for is to do one hour of independent work for every hour of class you have. Not really any need to be doing crazy amounts of revision over that in your first year :)

      @@yanr4n thanks so much that’s so helpful. I do around 6hrs a day atm and I do 3 subjects + epq. But I need to start sleeping earlier and waking up earlier, like you. Thanks

      @@cremegg 5.15 wake up as a minimum is roughhhh. i definitely try to get my 7 hours in so go to bed like 20.30-21.30 to wake up at 04.00. maybe a cheeky nap in the afternoon if need be (often needed tbh)

    Hey❤🥹, so I dropped out of school after year 12 and sort of took an unexpected gap year/break due to some unfortunate circumstances and returned to school this year . So I am doing year 13 now and repeating some of my AS year 12 exams . And ngl seeing all my friends graduated and leaving for their dream unis is hard 😢😭.obv I am happy for them but doing school with the batch below me and having to resit most of my year 12 AS exams that I did well in bc they expired so I can’t use them to get an a level qualification plus obv my actual a levels is just too much. So I have been feeling like shit lately but not gonna lie seeing you your youtube videos has definitely changed my mindset . So thank you .🥹😭❤️‍🩹. Also you are really pretty .❤

      i'm so sorry to hear about your situation. life is literally just awful like that and it's really bittersweet seeing your friends doing great things without you. whatever happens though, you're strong enough to get through it and i know that you're going to do great despite the way that you're feeling. i'm always cheering for you
