    "Valve Retainer" is the nomenclature you were looking for. There are very few wrenches I would consider to install a cam in my Scat Pack BUT I would be proud to be able to say this guy did mine! His attention to detail is rare now.

      Thats why you have to open em up to blow that shit out. The old Italian tune up. Plus , you have to make sure to disable the cylinder shut down when you go out. It's not a big deal, just drive it in sport transmission mode. Never in normal mode. My life's motto.

      My 2015 6 speed Scat stays in sport..it's not a daily driver by any means/600 miles last year/ but that's where it would stay if it was my only transport...So.no mds is a plus..but sport is how this car was designed not to putt around in economy mode..The person who buys a Scat to also attempt fuel mileage is confused and sad..🤭

      ​@@jimbradley727Exactly, my scatpack has about 10,000 miles and I only drive it in sport or track.. I think I only tried in eco mode once and said nah.. this just isn't right. Not my daily driver but even if it was I wouldn't drive in eco and would take the fuel economy hit so be it.

    3000 bucks probably in total for a 50 hp gain? I don’t know if that seems worth it for me. I think I made a mistake buying a 392 that’s why I sold it but I miss it. Just go with the hellcat that’s what I should’ve done from the beginning

      The price from a scat pack to hellcat is another 30k or so.. 3k for this mod i think is alright.. besides i love my shaker hood version over hellcat

      Definitely doesn't seem worth the cost for 50hp, I mean FBO 3rg gen coyotes on a 93 tune putting down over 470whp without breaking open the motor

      @@carlton4824 torque is certainly there, just higher up in the rpm's than a big pushrod motor, a different rear end gear like a 4.11 pr 4.56 will help get some of that low end grunt feeling.

    Great vid, I had a tick in my 5.7 a few weeks ago dropped it off for a lifter replacement and he called me saying oil everywhere so we are doing a stage 2 comp cam lifters oil catch ect. I’m kinda paranoid for next weeks dyno lol

      I did a cam on another 6.4 with a tick and it had a chunk missing on the cam and it had 30k on it. I have also seen a Mercedes with a chip in the cam that made a tick.

    Nice video and no I would not let a shop do this on the cheap side..
    Way too much effort and 1k plus seems to be very fair.
    I am in Jacksonville FL ready to up my cam in same exact process..
    Might even do forged rod n piston while at it for further the reliability and possible power adder in future.

      That is just how gasoline burns. E85 is the way to go. And yes this guy drives his cars hard so it is in enrichment mode a lot.

      Around 5k was the usually cost depending on what happened when we get in there. One guy had a broken coolant revivor that had been leak a while and he did not know. One guy had a broken harmonic balancer. Yes the brake. I had one fly to pieces in the middle of a dyno pull on a camaro. I did not work to it, just tuning it and the think exploded mid pull. This list goes on of things that can be already broken you dont know about or brake during the install.

    Is the dip in power around 4500 rpms from the intake runners switching from short to long? Can that be tuned out or removed? I see it in every dyno curve, and it bothers me 😁😁

      RT life I think his channel is called did good info video on tuning the 6.4 and they specifically addressed tuning out that dip in power with impressive results.

      The dip is from the intake runner changing. That can liked it better stock. I played with it both off and on and moving the trigger point around. This was the best results.

      Add another 6Gs. pistron rods combos are around 3500 then bolts and gaskets and labor.

      No way to get to the lifters accept remove the heads. LS/LT motors are the same way. If you do not need lifters no need to pull the heads

    Don't have to take bumper off to get cam out. But easier to drop the whole cradle.

      This guy really wanted a cam without lots of other parts swap. A more aggressive cam would have picked up more but then the snowball is rolling and you need injectors, torque converts, etc...

      @@mr.mach1484 I'm thinking just the cam... lifters, springs... Made the job longer... So add a fee for both.
      Best to have 3000 available so you can do everything you want to do since the engine will be wide open. Kinda job that you only wanna do once lol

      Pretty much every gasoline engine I have taken apart with any mile looks like that. Plus this drive the thing hard like real hard. So it is in enrichment mode all the time.

      In the little rock area. I shut the shop down because of all the EPA stuff and the EV stuff out there is taking over the market so the future in this business is going to dry up fast. But the usually cost was around 5k for parts and labor.

      I actually shut down my shop, I still do work here and there on the side. The EPA stuff and the EVs made me look at the future of gas car mods and it ain't a bright future.

      Sounds like you have a very generous dyno, stock SP are usually in the 420s

      Yes a mustang dyno, MD500 to be exact. I have dynoed like 30 6.4s on the same dyno. They make anywhere from 420 - 460 at the rear wheels. I would question those numbers. Most are at 450.

      They have little flapper door in the intake...I can not remember what they call them in this car. It shift power. I played with the setting and that was the best I could get it. If I turned it of it lost around 20hp down low.

      These are not super aggressive cams. Plus dodge has already squeezed the engines. Everything but an rt comes with factory shorty headers huge throttle body and pretty good heads.

      Lol thanks for the help. The neural networks are trash. Factory NN cars have 12deg knock because fueling is so far off. I do VE tunes on these and they work well. This guys dove that thing into the ground and never had an issue.

      On a 392 the power is not worth the expense. For the same price you can get boost and way more power. If you just want the chop you also need to do exhaust. In a few days I am going to post a video detailing these things and the cost break done vs power gain.

      This was a mild cam so no. In fact is the biggest cam you can do with no converter. It has to idle at like 800 if memory serves me correct.

      Usually 100+ an hour at most shops. I use to charge $1000 for a cam swap and $500 for the dyno tune.

    Lots of detail, good job, I love the sound of a nice choppy muscle car but for the amount of money that was put into this for chop and a small amount of power it seems like a waste, even though it sounds great, I would spend the extra money and get a hellcat, to rip that engine open like that seems almost counter productive for the money and power! Hellcat for me! I made the mistake of buying a Daytona scat and I regret it all of the time when I could have spent the extra and get a hellcat and now I’m getting a hellcat 2 years and 18k miles later!

      Spend a grand on a simple nitrous system and use the 75/100hp jets . It will last forever and make more power than cam/headers

      I have a 2019 scat pack charger. I mean for a daily driver it's great . Enough hp to move out. But it's not the fastest thing out there, but there are sacrifices for having the hellcat. The scat will spin tires all day in the rain. You can drive a hellcat in the rain as well, it's just easier to wreck it. Plus have to have much better summer tires or even street legal slicks. That means more money and not much driving in the winter time , like, at all because the cold weather makes those tires VERY slippery. Not saying you can't daily a hellcat, but it is not recommended.

I would definitely do some semi slicks, I ended up selling the Daytona and getting a truck again the hellcat and or tack hawk can wait another while haha!

      Sounds about right. I charger $1200 for the cam install. Pull the motor is not much more work just different work and different order. But if you pull the motor other things happen like you need a tranny flush and stuff because you are disconnecting the the motor from the trans etc...

      @@TheLifeofaMan I guess I'm used to the LS stuff. You'll pick up 25-35 with a tune only. I was expecting 100 gain. That being said, I don't have much experience with Dodge stuff. Looked like a lot of work. Good job.

      Your are right on the tune part....I've tuned dozen of gm vehicles of all kinds and almost all of them pick up 20-30 tune only. I have also tuned dozens of Dodge R/T and scatpacks ...I'm doing good to get 10-15 out of them. They come really hot from factory where as gm stuff is always really soft. Maybe that is why factory hellcats blow up lol

      There are cams out there for the 6.4 Hemi that do well over 100 HP after tuning. Heard of some getting 125ish. That car would not idle if the cam was hotter. Mine would crank only, spit, sputter and stall. Had to get a base tune and then a running tune.

      @@TheLifeofaMan I gained 26 rwhp from an email 93 tune (first rune, no revisions) in my 19 Scatpack. 10-15 sounds low

    222-23? Is a BIG cam? I dont think so. Bigger than factory yes. Big in the performance world NO. The Tomahawk 2.0 is bigger with tighter LSA and they use it on 5.7's too. The FRP Titan 2 is a lot bigger. Oh well another weak cammed scat.

    You do realize 6th gear is the 1 to 1 right? Also, this is a mustang dyno, why would you ever take your car to a mustang dyno lol 15 percent loss.

      Yes but tops out faster than the dyno will allow. 5th and 6th are very close. When I did the comparison the diff is like 5hp. I did pull in each gear and let it run until the dyno shut down. Everything is identical accept the last few hundred rpm and a small difference.

    you seem very smart and do good work im worried about that curver it looks very jagged not linear like stock and a cam should mimic it just higher
    also one to one is 6th

      These have a flap in the intake that opens and closes. That is why the shape of the curve looks like that.
