    Following racer tv from past 4 years and always waiting for new upload... RUclips suggested me this old video and I clicked and love it.....
    My love for Cafe racer started from 2010 when I first watched a movie called "tron legacy" when the main character of the movie sam rides Ducati s 1000 classic sports I just fall in love with that kind of bike and 3 years later royal enfield launched gt 535 which made in my country....... And I'm happy because not everyone can't afford Ducati but royal enfield is for every middle class guy like me... And cheap because it's made in India

      It is MUCH better now. Whatever process you use, you've gotten very good at it and it sounds great. I'm sure it's a ton of effort.
      Also, your videos are excellent. The content and execution are top notch. Been watching for years. Just got the KZ750 I've been dreaming of for the past 5 years. Heading out to the shop now to get started! Your videos have inspired and prepped me for a great experience!

    This so called "divine proportion" is refered to in design as the golden section or golden ratio and has been used for millenia. Renaissance artists like Da Vinci and Michaelangelo used it extensiely in their works, but it dates back to ancient times way before them. Great video!

    use this all the time, also we assert a visual weight to a design, it has a synchronous effect in our brains, also remember this principal works in 3 dimensions, and styling works by picking up cues and accents from all over the designs, so it all 'just works' every kid should be taught the golden spiral in school, it natures perfection : )

    the best way is not to calculate of follow any rule.....its an art....if many like
    your art then you are good....if people will keep following rules, nothing new will be discovered.....one good example is the virago....nobody was using a virago before for a cafe racer untill i can not remember how many years back when one guy was able to make a beautiful virago cafe racer....cant even remember if its yellow or orange LOL

    Using The golden mean might give you a nice looking bike, but will it handle?

    • @RACER_TV
      @RACER_TV  10 лет назад

      I'm sure that a good looking cafe racer design will not "hurt" the handling.The divine proportion is just a mean to help getting good proportions on our bike.Thanks for sharing your comment.

  • @maxwellschmidt235
    @maxwellschmidt235 5 лет назад

    1.618 is a good one, but it's not the only number. Repetition of ratios is more important. The various combinations of the golden ratio go much further to show that it is the repetition and relationship that really matters. And ultimately, to me, the cafe racer is about form as an expression of function. The mechanical purpose of the cafe racer is to subtract weight and achieve the greatest speed from an engine of given size. It may well be that the golden ratio yields a lighter bike, but I would propose that there are a number of repeatable ratios that can yield a visually pleasing result.

    Forgot the Golden Rule that was intensionally and consciously used some thousands years ago ... Ain't a new "science" thing - but an Ancient Greek analogy inspired by the perception of balance - beauty - lightness - analogy - the proportions that empirically were most pleasing the eye and sense of perfect form .... Ain't no Aston intension - though I bow to this modern day work of art - there's a Parthenon before it ..!

      Thanks. But unfortunately, things are more complicated than most people may think. I use this "robotic" voice created by software, because i'm Portuguese, and my bad english accent (and voice), can ruin the documentary character that i like for my videos. I already tried a real american voice in one of my videos, but things didn't worked as i expected. Curiously, the robotic voice sounds very good for all non english natives. Cheers.

      Bern DeVille As i said in the video(part 1 and part 2), this "Divine Proportion" can be applied in everything. It is used by many Designers, architects, painters and so on. It is a very good tool to achieve the right proportions of all objects.I know that this "formula" works fine in a cafe racer project. But i never tried in a scrambler bike.I didn't understand what you intend to do.Maybe transforming the harley davidson street into a Ducati full throttle look? Am i right?

      Sorry, but most measures presented in this video, are not the real ones. The main goal of the video, was only to demonstrate how to use the formula, therefore, it is irrelevant to have the right measures.
      But i have to clarify, that the ratio between all measures is correct, because everything was calculated using a professional drawing software called "AutoCad". Cheers.

    With all do respect, there's no formula for good proportions. We're way passed Renaissance now. The only "tool" for good proportions is a trained eye. Look at some Frank Gehry Architecture/ design. And If I may add, the best looking Aston Martins are from the last Century.

    Proportion cannot be calculated...it is something you have to be able to visualize, I believe some people are born with the ability to gauge proportions while some can do an equally good job using numbers. Classical example is Audi R8 and a Ferrari F40 (I know they're different category of cars) both are great but I'm sure you can tell which was built using numbers and which was built using natural talent.

      Dear RACER TV- please accept my apologies. When I posted my first comment, I didn't realise you were not English but Portuguese. You are not deceived - google - being American in origin - uses the American term for what we English call a bonnet. I love the effort you have made in creating a really informative and interesting video and I want to encourage you to keep up the great work! I love your humility too - if I could communicate in Portuguese half as well as you do in English, I would be very pleased indeed! Take care, Gandalf.

      Nicholas Ficca I recommend you to see the second part of this video. This ratio can be applied in almost anything, except in aerodynamics. It is like obtaining the correct proportion of all things, but it doesn't guarantee beauty or Style. It only helps.Sorry about this voice. But this was the best voice created by software, when i made this video. If you check my recent videos, you will see that i use a much better voice now.Thanks for your comment.

    There's nothing magical or profound in .618:1:1.618 ratio...A more profound ratio is the square root of Two, .707:1:1.41 ...this has a vastly more significance in mathematics. Then there is .7937:1: 1.2599, the so-called "Acoustic ratio".

    Hello Racertv team,
    Greetings from India.
    I have one Rajdoot 175 cc 2 stroke single cylinder engine. I am working to transform it into a cafe racer. while researching, I stumbled on your page. god knows how much I thanked him for stumbling upon RacerTv. I thoroughly enjoy your content on motorbikes, especially cafe racers.
    I would like your or anybody around the world who is seeing this comment, help/opinion on my build. I will link the motorbike image in the comment. I have not started the build but I am starting to source parts for the build. like I was looking for new fuel tank and I stumbled on Yamaha SR500 fuel tank.
    let me know it your team or any could help. keep vrooming the RacerTV page.
    the link: auto-zer.com/photo/rajdoot-175/10/default.html
    for a close look to this bike just google "RAJDOOT 175".

    • @RACER_TV
      @RACER_TV  9 лет назад +1

      Daniel Cook Yes, it is a little mistake which cause no problem in the main message of the video. If you think that a small mistake like this is important enough to unsubscribe a channel, that only means you never liked cafe racer bikes.Try to spend several hours using Autocad Software to create all the measurements you saw in this video, and i'm sure you will understand why some mistakes happen.I agree with you when you say there's plenty of real videos out there. But you will find no other channel with so important tips to Cafe Racer Enthusiasts.By the way, only those who never did anything, criticize the ones who are trying to do something.

      RACER TV
      Thank you for responding. I'm not to sure it's a little or small mistake as you have put. As to not liking cafe racers, well, that's incorrect , unsubscribing means I don't like your channel. I have spent many hours with 3d CAD programmes, and, no those blatant errors don't happen, although that might have to do with 'several hours' I have spent on them. I particular like the instant quote at the end though. I was going to make up a suitable one myself but re-read it and thought , yes I did something, and you haven't , by leaving this innacurate video up. Nice to hear from someone who answers there comments, appreciated. Daniel

    • @RACER_TV

      Daniel Cook Hi Daniel, i can assure you that an error of 0,15 in that Aston Martin, is completely irrelevant, because the application of the measurements in the car is not completely accurate.I just wanted to show that in general, this formula works. And this is what really matters. Cheers.

    • @danieljcook5757
      @danieljcook5757 9 лет назад +1

      Thank you again for responding. Have you read that post? Yes there always has been a formula for what 'appeals' to the human eye. It's pretty basic and not gonna go into the reasons why, to long, to dull, and the result is the same. I like ya self adore , if I may say, the aching beauty of cafe racers. I think it appeals to a very basic instinct, of geometry, proportion, and in my own opinion, the f~~k all that if it looks good and sounds good, its gotta be right. Sorry for being arsey , I have re subscribed. Dano

    most annoying voice ever, also surely the true proportions of ANY machine is down to builder and riders preference, i dont find aston martins particularly attractive, i believe 'scientists' calculated that marilyn monroe's proportions were the benchmark for ultimate feminine perfection and beauty, i find her average looking also..

      @RACER_TV  10 лет назад +2

      bony tarnes If you see my most recent videos, the voice is now much better.I never said that this "divine proportion" is used in all bikes and cars.But it is a very good tool to be used in a cafe racer project, or other any designs. Please check the Part 2 of this video, and you will understand the importance of this "Divine Proportion".Just for my curiosity, if the Aston Martin isn't beautiful enough for you, Which kind of car do you consider beautiful?

      breg77 I'm sure that you didn't understand this video, and i'm also sure that you didn't saw the Part 2 of this video. This formula is not everything to make a good cafe racer. It is just a tool to help you achieving the right proportions of your ideas and creativity.Everything have to start with an idea. And this formula it will only help. And that's exactly why it is used for more than 500 years.
