      I think not. There are some old classic Norton's on the road, but they are very rare. And new Norton bikes, even more rare. Cheers.

    The Golden Ratio will give you a very balanced bike. If you offset the design if will feel more aggressive, which can be a good thing. You can divide the grid up infinitely to find it in anything so saying it's there after the fact isn't really so special. It would be more effective to start with the rider's proportions. The measurement's will naturally dictate the design since humans are also defined by the golden ratio. The caster angle should help define the other angles on the bike if you want a more organized look. Alternatively, the angle of the rider's limbs could the starting point. Just some ideas to consider.

      GPflashclass Yes, you are right. But when was making this video, i wanted to keep it simple. The main goal was helping cafe racer enthusiasts, about the seat size and shape. But thanks for sharing your comment. Maybe is time to make a part 3 video about this matter. Cheers.

    Brilliant work! I've seen a few of your videos now and just wanted to thank you for a fantastic channel. I've just subscribed and look forward to more great videos.
    As you have mentioned, you prefer text to speech as you have an accent when you speak English. The voice on this video has so far been the best.
    Thank you for taking the time and the effort for us all.
    Bravo

    I understand how this number can help make the perfect technical project bike. Those others who do think outside the square still come up with beautiful bikes. But this is still very helpful.

    I certainly enjoyed all of the examples of the "Golden Ratio" applied to all of your examples. As an aside, big singles make the most beautiful Cafe Racers. The AJS Boy Racer, The BSA Gold Star, The Royal Enfield and the Norton Manx which you included as your last example. Vertical twins also make beautiful Cafe Racers like a Yamaha or Triumph or BSA 650 twin because of the length longitudinally of the engine/transmission combination, similar to the big singles. For anyone interested, a company called Ryca Motors has a wonderful kit to convert a Suzuki Boulevard 40 (650 cc single) into a beautiful Cafe Racer. And boy does it sound Sweeeeet!

      Roy Fileger Single cylinder engines(And vertical twins) allow the engine become clean, which helps the look of the bike. Thank you for sharing your tips. Cheers.

      Well, thank God that there are different tastes and perspectives in the world. The most difficult part is respect the differences, even when we don't like or don't understand them. It is just a question of human taste, nothing more than that. Sometimes we understand, and sometimes times we don't.

    Proportions is about to do only with length,dut the most important is the curvs that makes an item beautiful,for example moto guzzi thst have right proportions i don't like,also its about to do with personal "taste" think about like women that the curvs of the body or face gives this result.

  • @coenijn
    @coenijn 9 лет назад

    I'm sorry but IMO this is a very good example of confirmation bias. Eduardo Sampoia posted some good links below to kinda explain why. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. This is a nice article as well, from the designer's perspective: www.fastcodesign.com/3044877/the-golden-ratio-designs-biggest-myth

    • @RACER_TV
      @RACER_TV  9 лет назад

      coenijn Well, i'm not going to argue if the Golden ratio is perfect or not. But the fact is that works beautifully in many things, especially in cafe racer seats. I still think that is a great help for all Cafe Racer enthusiasts, who are building a cafe racer bike. But thanks for sharing your opinion. Cheers.

    1.618 hmmm this has a 18 and 18 divided by 3 is 6, and each division has three 6 which makes a 6+6+6
    now we are left with a 1.6,... a ONE and a 6 which looks like a G for god, does this means...
    1.618 = one.god666?

    • @RACER_TV
      @RACER_TV  6 лет назад +1

      Well, i think you are not seeing the main point. What iment about the divine proportion, is the fact that this number or ratio(1.618), always look very good for the majority of people. That's Why it is used for centuries, and still it works beautifully. Cheers.
