so many colours to choose from, thanks for the discussion. I once heard that any colours can go together, but it is the tones of the colours that make or break the combination.
Slow Boat Thank you. I'm glad you liked. As i said in the video, it is very difficult to explain combination of colours, because it is always dependent on the "object" in which we are working. Thanks for sharing your opinion. Cheers.

Excelente trabalho! Excelent Work! When I have doubts I always find the answer in your videos!
Winner of a video, I have been researching "paint color ideas living room walls" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Ever heard of - Carterzen Paintify Formula - (just google it ) ? Ive heard some interesting things about it and my m8 got cool success with it.
your choice of colours is great, it is also good to remember that black and white are neutral, so go with any colour ( although some are better than others)
David Trindade Muito obrigado David pelas simpáticas palavras.
Seeing the announcement of this video, I was very scared. I went yesterday at the painter to choose the color of my cafe racer. Would I make a mistake? too late! Fortunately not. I know now thanks to you that I made the right choice. Tv Racer thank you for this excellent video. the soundtrack is perfect. It really is a pleasure to follow you every week.
I'm glad when my videos are helpful to someone. Thank you for your kind words, and for your support. Good luck for your project. Salute.

Do you know why Italian industrial designers have always been so successful? because they have always lived surrounded by art, their streets are like museums. As the video says, the examples help. If you does a retro project, it's good to look at the colors that are used in each era: 30's and 40's are black and grey and cream colors, sometimes outlined with white lines. 50's and first 60's are pastel colors, the two color combinations of the cars and appliances of that era are a good example to follow. Late 60's and 70's are pure and bright colors, with black or color lines and geometric drawings, and letters, as Pop Art. Each era has its colors, and notice how they were used by professionals is a great help. The studying of color tables and their complementary ones is basic in fine arts, and making a cafe racer can be a fine art.
I agree with you. But i also think that the Italian climate and landscape, also helps to create some passion about everything they make. Thank you my friend for sharing your perspective. :) Cheers.
i've always liked your videos.i dont really know a lot from cafe racers from before and right now im in the process of building one.i bought a beat up srx250 and im on my way to my own unique bike.keep making such great videos.by the way could you make videos about technical stuff like how to choose carburetors.possible options..etc..
+SomeoneOutHereXD Thank you for your kind words. I would recommend you to watch my latest video about the "Top 5 Mistakes about Cafe Racer Projects". I'm sure it will help you a lot, before starting your project. A appreciate your suggestion, but as you already may noticed, most Racer TV videos are oriented for a cafe racer design perspective. It's very difficult making technical suggestions, whith so many diferente engines out there. But thanks foy your sugestion. Good luck for your future project. Cheers.
I love colors ! seems the trend is for meh silver or bare metal looks. I listed for sale a bright Ferrari red bike with lemans stripes and a raw brushed bare metal bike at the same time. Both were otherwise very similar. The raw bare metal bike had 10X the interest and replies !
Ichiban Moto You are right. I forgot to mention that no colour, is also a good option,(ups! Sorry, i wanted to say "Bad Ass. :) ). Thanks Ichiban for your comment. Cheers.
Just like a yellow ferrari or a red lamborghini. The wrong color will make it look dull, the right color will make it have a soul. There is no perfect color or combination, you just have to reflect what you want the bike to show off as a personality.
Probably my favorite video about motorcycles, with very few motorcycles in it. I've always wanted to paint my bikes, but worry I will make a bad color choice.
For those of you new to color theory, here are some more tips: ›Have a look at this page: colormatters.com/color-and-design/basic-color-theory If you know nothing about color theory, that's a good place to start, if you can read English fairly well. Otherwise try looking up "pigment color theory" in your favorite language on your favorite search engine to understand the basic principles. ›Get yourself 5 poster paints (red, yellow, blue, black and white) and a couple of brushes and a white sheet of posterboard and a black sheet of posterboard from your local drug store or variety store. This most likely will cost you less than 20 dollars or euros or your local equivalent. These are for you to practice what you learn from the colormatters.com page above so that it's something you've experienced and not just some theory you read about once. ›Pay attention to how women dress and do their makeup. They are usually very competent at wearing clothing that contrasts and/or complements colors throughout the ensemble, and usually does the same to their complexion, eye and hair colors. They suffer colorblindness at a lower rate than men, as well. ›Look at successful art. Especially the more "graphic" examples like Patrick Nagel, Andy Warhol, old Art Deco fabrics, Miami Beach Art Deco oceanfront hotels, Don Johnson's Miami Vice costumes (the production company hired a "color consultant" for the show--and it shows), 1930's racing airplanes' paint jobs, etc. You will soon start to reflexively understand the "language" of colors. ›Go to your local home improvement/hardware store and get some of those free sample color cards that paint companies give away. Start with the most basic "primary" colors and go from there. the reason for doing this is so that you can lay different colors next to each other and see how they look together. (You can also do this with the poster paints by mixing them yourself.) ›Consider taking a course in color from your local "community college" or trade school. It's a necessary part of fine art, fashion design, interior design, industrial design and, of course, café racer design, so there should be a class in it at a nearby school, if you can afford it/can attend it when scheduled. ›Most of all, START PAYING ATTENTION TO COLORS OF MANUFACTURED OR CUSTOMIZED ITEMS AROUND YOU IN YOUR LIFE! Start developing opinions about them, which colors, hues, shades and combinations thereof you like and which ones you don't like. Which ones work under these or those circumstances and which ones don't. If you are embarking on a café bike project, YOU need to select the color scheme and YOU are the one that must be happy with it. This will get you started. As the old man said, "You've taken your first steps into a larger world..." Good luck.
Is the background music from the Final Fantasy series? Because the composition sounds very similar and it's quite nice in it's simplicity. Btw, what song is it?

Do you have any videos of 90- 600xj ?
TT GarageRat Hi Timo. No, i don't have any video with that Yamaha. Cheers.
Where did you found the color table at the beginning of the video?

my friend the model that i am working on is Honda model of 1990 NTV 400cc in the US is called HAWK and in europe BROS. can you find something for it?
Giannis Kalaitzakis Uuuu, that's a difficult one.
The frame structure, the mono swingarm and the big fuel tank, are limiting any cafe racer project.
The only bikes that i think that can help you, are the Ducati Monster by Marco One Percenter, or the Triumph Jerolamo R by Mr Martini.
I hope this helps.
Cheers.
All the cars you have chosen are "lifestyle" choices, was that intentional?
Well, my intention was only to present nice and tasteful combinations of colors, which by luck, are available in this kind of cars. :) Cheers.
I like how it pronounces colah.
I am a simple man i like only black and with black goes everything!

Hi Racer TV,
Thank you for the great video's and inspiration to build my own cafe racer. I just a "normal bloke" messing about in his garage. Check out Café Racer “Old School” GS500.I hope you like my effort.
Whitley Bay .Tunnel of Love Hi, congratulations. You did very good choices on you project. The GS frame is a big handicap for a cafe racer. But you disguise it very well by painting all in mate black. The seat is also very nice, especially the finish material. The only think i didn't like so much is the exhaust sound, but this is just my personal taste. Thanks for sharing. Cheers.
Hi Racer TV. Thank you for you comments. I got this bike for free after it had been used, abused and neglected in a school workshop for 13 years+. I have spent about 4 months building this project. Learned a great deal from doing this project and pleased with the outcome. Respect for all those people who undertake and complete their own projects. Why is it the "little jobs" take so much thought for what is the least outcome? Couple of more jobs to do, but now road legal! Thanks to the people at Saddlecraft,@South shields and Johnnysshop for the encouragement and excellent vlogs.
Sorry about the title "Old School", seems appropriated given the bikes recent past and close escape from the scrap yard!
PS Soon Friday again and looking forward to your next video.

Ketchup and mustard. Its not the colors but how their used.
Just don't put a brown seat on it.
