I don’t have the HK set up but I have the factory kicker speakers and placing a kicker sub in it as well. My question is should I purchase the hk version for the upgraded speakers and amp or should I just get the regular one.
I plan on getting one of these installed in my 2018 forester. I am still deciding between this unit and the roadanvi unit but they both seem to be the same. I love the fact that its essentially an android tablet so i can install my fav launcher (smart launcher) and customize the UI and home screen to my liking. Thanks so much for the video!! I really like the Idoing unit they are def nice, but I ended up choosing the T'Eyes CC3 because the UI is better, picture in picture i.e I can run navi, movies/songs and browser at the same time amongst other nice options I didn't realize I needed.
I have a 2017 with the iDoing unit that has knobs. Initial take is a MASSIVE improvement. After about 4months, the sound quality decreased - tweeters sounded a bit cackley - i dont blast my volume as i have tinnitus but i am fully aware of what equates to quality of sound. I was told the speakers likely went bad, so i purchased and replaced all 4 speakers and the 2 dash tweeters. The sound did not improve from that. Has anyone else had this experience with their unit/speakers after install?
Stock speakers on base/premium model end up blowing from the higher wattage output from this unit, it’s recommended to upgrade to the kicker upgraded oem speakers.
This radio is awesome however the Bluetooth microphone is just trash tried several different aftermarket microphones with no change even did they’re newest update with the factory microphone still sucks no on can hear me I my car. Yet Idoing still not willing to help with exchange cause it’s been sometime and I have been complaining since the beginning.
great head unit minus one complaint I have. It isnt held in well, i can pull it out with just my hands easily. not sure if its on the 08-14 models only but ive seen others with the same issue.
Mine is in there extremely well. Pretty hard to pry out. I know tanner (@smeedia) had some issues with his in his hatch. Granted he has 700+hp, it still wasn’t in well.
I have a love and hate relationship with mine. Its 100 percent worth it. But it still has its problems. Like shutting off suddenly and taking forever to reboot. Or andriod auto not working. Or just never rebooting after a long time and have to do a whole ass factory reset. Not sure if its because mine is for a 2015 harman kardon system and might be the oldest one out there. But i still freaken love it so much that i put up with alll its flaws.
@Scoobyfreak86 Yeah, i reached it, and they sent me a new update to install, but it still does the same. It's frustrating, but I've put up with it, lol. I might have to if i ever get to that point, but i have a lot of patience, so we shall see for how long, haha.
@@Menace_sti I had a couple updates needed for mine. Firmware and then bluetooth and it's rock solid since. The bluetooth one cleaned up my blackscreen for AA and sometimes not connecting. Mine was non HK though - purchased about 6 months ago.
So I have to be looking in the wrong places, but how in the world can you change the themes and backgrounds on these units? Had mine for a year and still to this day I'm not seeing good info on how to do it. Let me know if you have a quick minute and much appreciated.
I see…I have an Outback 2018 and I tried the replace the OEM unit with an aftermarket, not the Idoing, but I found out that I would lose all those functions because the aftermarket unit doesn’t support them…unfortunately my Outback doesn’t have mfd like your Impreza…
that very first intro showed 5g connectivity. I thought the built-in cellular support was only 4g/LTE. I suppose I should watch the rest of your video to see if there is clarity.
FYI-I used the link, says it doesn't work for my 2021 WRX STI and there was no option for Harmon Kardon system either. I sent message asking if they have one to fit my car.
I hooked mine up and everything works perfectly EXCEPT the steering wheel buttons, climate control knobs and the dimness knob all the way on the far left side of the car by the steering wheel aren't illuminated and I didn't notice until I drove at night, did I miss something, does anyone know?

Every once in a while the video feed between the display and the Iphone is a little flakey but that only happens when I use ways but i don't use it that often so not a huge deal. (maybe i have the antenna in a bad spot) other then that its a great piece of kit.
What about the functions controlled with the OEM head unit, such as driving statistics, defogger, maintenance remainder, vehicle monitor, etc? Did you lose them?

I saw some people said it will not work with the stock microphone and they have to use the microphone comes with the header which is actually really bad. No one want to have phone call with them when they are driving😂

How is it better than the stock one? I have a 2020 with the HK system and don't see how this would be an upgrade. Did the rear camera look good? any lag on the wireless apple play?
I upgraded to a newer android headunit, unfortunately quite different to your setup. But if you use the oem camera it will probably look worse on the bigger screen.. at least my 2020 Impreza sport does. I'm debating if I want to go through the trouble of replacing the oem camera with something better. It looks like a standard size camera screwed in from the back, but I'd have to run wires to the back or cut something up to wire in an aftermarket camera in the oem location.
How do you know if you have an HK system? I bought a 2018 STI limited. None of the speakers have any logos except for the sub in the rear dash which does have an HK logo. Not sure if that sub is an add on from the dealership or what. Its a 7 speaker set up and I thought that HK systems had 9 so I am confused

Mines been giving me nothing but problem I don’t have the password to factory reset I can’t connect to CarPlay out of no where with usb / or Bluetooth just keeps failing to connecting

I picked this up and installed it, sound quality was horrible compared to stock and reverted back to stock. Would an in-line amp to the stereo help solve this issue?
@@Autofreakgarage I have the HK sound system, I did upgrade the front door speakers prior to installing this. The problem I ran into was at medium to high volume the quality did not sound good at all. I am hoping an amp can fix this because other than the quality this unit is awesome!
Ahh I never heard this system with the hk setup. I had the base speakers and upgraded to the kickers. But an amp should definitely help clean things up for you.
@sizemorerc8206 no video on the install of this unit but just remove that black box on the bottom of the stock headunit. Plug it in and tuck it behind the idoing and you’ll be good to go.

Got this for my 2015. At time of posting this, have it for almost a year and it still works great…better than some OEM units.
Did you do the install? Did it take long?
It doesn’t always connect, but a quick “settings to Bluetooth” on the phone works great 😅

Mine falls out all the time if I step onit in 2nd stock 2010 sti. Other than that I love the unit

I've had very similar experiences to this! Mine keeps resetting and trying to update it has been a pain in the arse.

Yes! Just like the stock unit. The display dims when lights are on and at night.

I believe there is an accessory add on you can get with it to display that info. I know there is one for the TPMS as well.
You can hook up a bluetooth obd2 reader and use torque or something like that to show the info on the screen.

It works ok. Never take phone cals in the car, so I don’t use it much. But I have heard people prefer the OEM mic better.

It’s very easy to do as it’s all plug and play. The hardest part is getting the stock unit out since a few screws are hard to get to.

You have the hk. Non hk doesn’t have a sub at all.

Have you tried a reset? Just swipe down on the top of the screen and hit restart.

An amp would help get you what you need. However, the door speakers are recommended to be replaced as well. Stock speakers leave a lot to be imagined.

I just clipped it onto the steering column. Quality is too great, but I heard the new version of this can work with the OEM mic.
