The point of this video was to tell my story. My story isn't yours. You should absolutely aspire to be as successful as possible, and work as hard as you can to achieve those goals. If that happens to be becoming a pro, go for it. That should never change. My decisions were based on my situation at the time, and I felt was the best move for myself moving forward. Was that the right call, I think so, but that's life, it's all about the choices you make. My advice is definitely to chase your dreams, but do so with hard work, dedication and a level of self awareness. Take chances in life, but also be fairly certain that the odds are in your favor. That's the way I see life and how I go about making the decisions that I make. Thanks for watching.

Hey Josh, you're bang on about how things are in Canada. I actually had a somewhat similar soccer career growing up (although I grew up in Saskatchewan, where ,of course, there's even less opportunity than Ontario). You can be the best player in the whole top league of your province and never get looked at by any sort of pro club. scouts just seem to not be as much of a thing, and of course it's increasing every day, but we're still miles behind other countries.

Would love to see you post some new hockey vids as there isn't enough RUclipsrs for ice hockey and yours are on point.

The most common route to Pro in USA/Canada is University, do well, make first team, followed by lower levels of semi-pro to pro, depending on skills. Lot's of channels around about guys in their early 20's mid 20's even making PRO for first time. But yes those guys dedicate their lives to it...and watching them get there is very cool. What is interesting is the number of PRO players who were never stand outs but simply work work work work to get there.

I can kind of relate because I'm 16 now, but about 1 or 2 years ago I was so sure that I would go pro. I realized that the dream I had was not very realistic. I am now pursuing music which to me, it seems much more realistic and I truly have a passion for creating music.

Shout out from Hamilton Ontario man. I was born in Jamaica, but I grew up in Canada and still reside here. Canada's definitely not a football country and it's sad, we love hockey and ignore everything else pretty much.Hopefully sometime in the near future they decide to invest more in football and kids that love football. Still love Canada 🍁 🍁

In England you get scouted by clubs and you stay with them until your 16 and then they either offer you a contract or release you and send you to exit trials -- it would’ve been easier for you to go pro in England

Nice background and healthy outlook; gives some context to your channel. I "rudy-ed" my way through division III college ball in the U.S. and briefly trained with a "Regionalliga" (4th dvi) team in Germany before giving in to my case of OSB and focusing on driving cars instead. I strongly suspect you're better than I was, and could have probably at least made a living playing in Europe (as even their 2nd/3rd div teams pay well enough to sustain). While I wouldn't trade the experiences for anything, in hindsight I'd have been smart to stop after highschool....several injuries avoided, and delusions of football grandeur intact :)

The real answer seems to be that you wanted to do other things with your life, which makes a lot of sense. As a young guy you have to be very dedicated to make it pro.
However, once there, you get to finish work at 1 every day and a fully paid 2 month holiday each year, which allows you to do quite a lot of other things.

You were clever enough to look at the situation realistically and make the right decision in terms of continuing your career, many of them look at it from a wrong angle I would say, and give everything they have to pursue their dream. However, if it doesnt work out, time, energy, education is lost and they end up in a bad spot. I can see that you enjoy working on this channel, just continue making content and we can expect even 2-3mil. subs at certain point, maybe in a year, maybe in 3 years, who knows?
