Must agree with you about the towing capacity. It's downright dangerous having 3.5tonne capacity. The Ute is around 2.2tonne towing 3.5. !!! Receipe for disaster.
Vey helpful! Thank you for this! Also choose reliable brand of recovery gears. I will recommend Miolle recovery gears, extremely useful for a two wheel drive auto stuck in the snow, Sand ,or mud. Easy to use and stores simply in it's carry bag in the trunk or tool box. The quality is 100%! Service from the company is excellent. Love this tool!
My 16 year old just bought a 2005 Ford courier v6 and when going to register it found that the gvm is 2871 and the gcm is something like 4600kg. That is how towing capacities should be, trailer less than the towing vehicle. Have the weight at the front.
Nice video! I don't agree with 3.5 tonne towing on a ute is safe! As an ex truck owner/ driver #1 was never tow a loaded trailer heavier than the loaded truck! That's asking for trouble & the only reason they allow it is so the grey nomads don't have to buy a 5 tonne truck! Which ironically is only allowed to tow 3.5 tonne also! Imagine a truck with a 9000KG GVM being only allowed to tow 3.5 tonne and yet they it with a hilux or ranger! Insanity!
Think the rating for the tow bar refers to the towing assembly the sticker would be the same if that tow bar was on a Nissan leaf its the Max that it's been designed for
I like the new Kaon recovery points for the prado. But way too expensive for me. I'll go with Anthonys logic regarding the front tow points. Cheers!
I use the loops welded on the chassis never had a problem

As an engineer, that's a good bit of kit.
The other ones you've shown in the past are shocking
They should also indicate on the maximum wind up speed for a snatch some folk think Toyota's are indestructible

Where to get this type of recovery points?
Who makes those?
So these are factory Toyota recovery points?
You should definitely not tow more that 2000kg with a Hilux (if you want to be on the safe side)
How can I get front recovery points for my Jeep Cherokee / Wrangler 2011 ķk
