Honorable mention: Johnny Ace. He was a singer who died on Christmas day 1954 after playing with a gun that he had. The people around him were obviously worried, which led to him saying "It's ok. Gun's not loaded! See?" Those would be his last words as there was a bullet loaded and he accidentally shot himself in the head.

The MythBusters actually tested the lava lamp story with the stove and the only way you’re able to get a catastrophic failure was by modifying the safety cap so that it would not release and the glass would fail first. Lava lamps have under the little silver cap on the top basically what looks like a soda bottle cap and it serves two purposes, first it allows the manufacture to fill the actual lamp with the liquid but more importantly for the consumer it acts as a pressure release device. That way if pressure inside builds too high from overheating like by putting it on stove or using too big of a bulb it will release instead of blowing up like a hand grenade or pipe bomb. Contact with liquid could still cause very severe burns however

4:07 Imagine being seconds away from the ground and realizing you forgot your parachute. Just knowing your death is so close must be horrifying.
There is actually footage, because he was recording the jump. I believe a decision was made not to release it, but a transcript was read on the MrBallen channel. It was pretty awful to listen to.

That game was good they made a fist game then they made a 2 one but haven't played since middle school
5:42 I remember this event happening, we lived less than ten miles away when we heard/felt the explosion. When we heard it on the news we were terrified it was my aunt that died in the explosion, because she also worked at a horse hospital around the same area. Lucky it wasn't, but that was still a sad day in our community. RIP

The dumbest way ive seen someone die, well heard was the guy who jumped in the yellow stone national park, hot pools.
It is so tragic, I heard the story of him... His beloved dog jumped in the hot pool and the man also jumped in a futile attempt to save his dog. Both of them were literally cooked alive

I'm not sure if these should be dubbed "dumb ways to die." as it is freak accidents. Minus the lava lamp guy and the prison guy a lot of these are pretty rational mistakes. The instructor had jumped 800 times he probably got so used to doing it that it became clockwork.

Strikingly similar events, except the Hereditary version doesn’t involve drunk driving, but both have the victim’s body being left in the car for several hours & both drivers reactions are puzzling. Ari Astor (Hereditary’s director) is well known for being extremely committed to realistically portraying graphic violence in his films, especially with this scene (which I considered the extreme example).
I think it is depresing to be honest.
That happened in Austin Texas and I was there visiting my ex-girlfriend when it happened and everyone was talking about it. He was decapitated by a guidewire on a telephone pole in a parking lot. His head was discovered that night and he drove all the way home with him hanging out the window only to be discovered by the next door neighbor the next day.

This reminds me of the classic tv show ‘1000 Ways to Die’
I loved that show!

Btw. As an Arizona man, the Saguaro Cacti actually grow to 50 ft and can live even longer than 100 years.
It’s also illegal to damage them because they only grow in the Sonoran desert
And they're heavy. A friend of mine had one in their yard and it toppled over during a storm and landed on her mailbox, destroying it
By the age of 10 a Saguaro can be 1 to 2 inches tall.
A fully grown Saguaro can weigh up to a ton.
They also have a taproot that can grow up to 5 feet. This root helps the Saguaro get water deep underground. While the rest of its roots will be within 3 inches underground to quickly gather up any and all rain.

I haven’t watched this yet but if “dying because health insurance is tied to your job and healthcare is a for profit system that preys on the literal sick and wounded and let’s them die if they lack the funds, and this is a problem that we could easily fix and all for less money than we already spend now on the uninsured.” Then this list doesn’t have the dumbest way to die in America.

Polish Healthcare is similar - with the small diffrence, that only one medical institution is allowed to respond to 112 (or 999) calls and treat patients in serious medical case (it's NFZ). If you're not insured in ZUS (which itself is a crime in Poland), you'll be charged after you're treated, but the price is (and must be) always the same everywhere. It's also possible, that ZUS will not demand fees to keep your insurance (e.c. if you're unable to work), or will allow other people to pay it for you (e.c. parents, school, or employer - all of those *must* register and insure you (otherwise they commit a tax fraud)). From the other hand, if you're insured, you also get rent when you retire.
NFZ - National Health Fund. It may sound like a ,,company", but it's not - it's a public good, owned directly by MZ (Ministry of Health), and no matter the case it *always* helps those in need (only ZUS takes care of their finances) - it's not allowed to reject treating you. If you're American, Polish NFZ works similarly to your Fire Department, with only diffrence, that one civil office will then want to have a word with you.
ZUS - Social Insurances Association. Civil office taking care of rents and medical treatment gwaranteed from the government, but demands paying fees every month.

When they get to the booth they literally smash on the window and scream slowly at the teller; “DO YOU SPEAK ENGLISH?” Upon a perfect answer in English the Americans proceeded to whine about how people in France don’t all speak fluent English for them 🙄

Years ago, some people from out of state died in the frozen Chicago River trying to retrieve their dropped iPhone. A few days later after class at Harold Washington College, I passed over the bridge on Michigan Ave and looked down (west side of the bridge, closest to Trump Tower) at the frozen ice plates; noting to myself “This is we’re some fools died a few days ago . . .”

The skydiver that died, was in the 80s. No compact Go-Pro at the time. Video recorders back then, were large, and often had a backpack, for the separate recorder. This partially explains how he didn't realize, that he wasn't wearing a parachute.
Imagine if this guy made an edition of this for every country.
