The difference between a used bench selling for $50 vs $100 is fixing the upholstery. Great video! In terms of finding quality equipment, torn upholstery causes people to sell low so it’s a great DIY to make something you find for cheap a great addition to your home gym.
A heat gun at the corners will help soften the vinyl to form better around corners. Too much heat will melt vinyl so just heat till it becomes more pliable
Also look at $20 harbor freight folding mechanics pad. I have a vertical leg press with an horrible pad. It was going cost time and money get it a better pad. But harbor frights folding mechanic pad fit just right, has a head rest and can be adjusted to 1.5 to 3 inches thick depending how unfold it. I take with me even when go to a commercial gym and have another in the car for if car breaks down.

Good call. I didn’t even think to mention that!
how about welding some pipe to make a reverse hyper rack attachment to go with your awesome pad? 👍

Great video! Never used T nuts before. I will give them a try!
Thanks! They're pretty handy when you need a bolt to sit flush. I am utilizing them in my current project as well.

That is awesome! Harbor Freight is full of useful stuff to use in the gym.
Great tip. Can also use the cover and the padding from the HF mechanics pad for the materials necessary to reupholster a workout bench.
@dylanowens3173 such a great idea! I really like the extra folding pad either for my head and my legs. Does the vinyl has good grip for bench press?
I am about to replace the leather on my workout bench, this video is very helpful.

Thanks for the video! For seal rows, does the foam compress when you put yourself on top of it?
Yes. The amount depends on the density of the foam.
Great video. Does the vinyl used provide good gripping for bench press?
I haven’t used it for bench press but I’d imagine it works well.
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it

I'm going to do this but use one of those husky kneeling pads. That stuff is thick and squishy
