  • I bought 2 Osmo Action 4 when it came out, and not until now this winter have I noticed that they give different exposures compared to each other. It is not easy to notice until you film something white, which is what I have done here.
At first I thought it was because I used different firmware on them, but it wasn't.

Hi there, hope you understand that the two cameras can not be completely the same. Per checking the footage in this video, the difference between the two footage in the same firmware is almost imperceptible.

      Thank you for the answer.
I think there is quite a big difference between the two, but less visible when the protective glass is off. But haven't done any more tests with them about this.

I use DJI action 4. Unfortunately, the camera does not expose correctly either in manual or auto mode. In auto mode the ev should compensate by + 1 minimum but instead of being at +1 it reaches -2 and I am underexposed, in manual mode I am correctly exposed but the backroand is overexposed. I understand that the sensor is not too big, but it should expose correctly, as does my phone, which has a much smaller sensor than this camera.

It is hard to say what the issue could be, but I will think you having problems with high contrast areas with sun and dark shadows. I record always in Auto and ISO 100-800. It is best to brighten shadows in post after if you seeing problems. And always have shutterspeed above 1/200s-

hi! whats sharpness and noise reduction setting you prefer? and next question, d-log m gives you better DR and high noise?

I have seen in most cases that 0 sharpness and -2 noise reduction gives good quality in daylight.
D-Log M gives you more room for yourself to push down highlights and push up shadows. So yes it gives you slightly better DR. Also in low light always shoot in D-Log M.
      Not more noise than ordinary.

@@rjfotovideocan I ask you to upload into fileshare 10 sec unedited same scene d-log-m videos in 3 cases: sharp 0 & nr-2 and sharp -1 nr-2 and sharp-2 nr-2 ...? to evaluate DR and "background" limits (I like sony as300/x3000 in that, and for 1st attemp, osmo action 4 looks "flat" and oversharpening....)
