I have been repairing and balancing full size boat props for 40 years and found it's harder to do these little guys than full size props. The first set of props I did were off my miss Geico 36 all by hand and that was tough working with stainless steel, but I gained 10 mph after reworking them. I bought a little air belt sander and bunch of different grit belts to use on these props. I tried it on a new Octura the other night with 400 grit belt and it worked great. I was able to detoung, thin and sharpen it with less effort than hand filing. Can't wait to try it on a stainless prop. They say you can't teach an old dog new tricks well I think that the modeling clay is a pretty good idea. On full size props I have always used a piece of heavy paper to wrap around the prop and draw fine line around the blade to compare blade shape, but I think that the clay might be a better way on the little guys. I don't know what's up at OSE, they have been out of ABC props for months in the sizes that will work for my boats. On the Dubro balancer it's the best one, a word though keep the arbor protected when not in use its not stainless and will corrode and pit from moisture in the air and make it impossible to balance these lightweight props. Love your videos B keep it up.

Same xperience with abc, even threw one in the garbage. Didn't know then the hub could be the problem, so when i found out the difference in blades was to much to be able to run normally... Balancer said it was ok, but on the boat it didn't work. Got cut-outs within 20sec or so... But if you get them right, they work and are fast....

I've thrown one in the trash too, That Hurt.. same scenario basically, the bore was off in the hub and there was no fixing it.

I notice once I have a prop balanced then I polish the prop it's not balanced. I'll put it back on the balancer and it's no good. Food for thought.

Usually while polishing a prop the buffing wheel and compound removes material throwing off the balance. I start polishing my props when there 98% balanced, finish it off with the polishing wheel and emery cloth
