    "i don't have the words.
    This year has cruelly taken so many fine people way too young.
    And George?
    That gentle boy?
    All that beautiful talent?
    Can't begin to compute this.
    RIP George.
    Sing with Freddie. And the Angels."
    Brian May
    Taken from The Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert for AIDS Awareness that took place at Wembley Stadium on Easter Monday, 20th April 1992. The concert was a tribute to the life of the late Queen frontman, Freddie Mercury, with all proceeds going to AIDS research. GREATEST TRIBUTE IMO OF THIS INCREDIBLE RELIGIOUS TRIBUTE TO AN INCREDIBLE ARTIST.

      He really deserves a tribute concert but who should sing? Imagine the both tributes on by Adele and the one with Chris Martin? Both were horrible for me, not brilliant enough to celebrate George Michael's music career. The truth is no one is really to able sing a tribute song. When you look at this concert who was all on stage? The Queen members, David Bowie, Elton John, Axl Rose, Annie Lennox, Lisa Stansfield, Seal.....stars with a special caliber. Stars like them are really rare.

      In reality, George Michael sings better since by not distorting his voice he makes it sound more powerful and voluminous, something that Freddy does not because he distorted so much and tightened the strings so much that he could not give up.

    • @Joker.arlequin-of-street
      @Joker.arlequin-of-street Год назад +4

      He didn't do a whole recital with that hoarse voice, while George Michael could sing all the songs and finish with the same voice.

    • @Joker.arlequin-of-street
      @Joker.arlequin-of-street Год назад +1

      But George didn't distort his voice, although he could have done it if he knew the technique, he just didn't want to... I mean George Michael could sing with a ragged voice just like Freddy if he wanted to but he wasn't

      +sunpreet sandhu true, and Freddie paled the piano and really marched around the stage. I look at this for what it was....a truly magnificent tribute to honor the king who wrote and sang it better than no other...and I think George really did Freddie Proud. I just re-watched Freddie sing it in Queen-Rocks Montreal and watched it in awe...Freddie was amazing...power, stage presence and the voice like NO-other...But George...doing this song as you did, put you in a new league (in my humble opinion) after all is said and done, I watch this video over and over and smile. George should be proud!

      Something so sad about these beautiful, freakin' talented gay men being taken from us too early. George's death may have had nothing to do with being gay but he was tortured, not at peace with it, never quite found "somebody to love." @@dianeatkinson2015, you have to remember that Wham! and the songs George wrote during that era, was when he was a teenager. It appealed to teenagers, but nevertheless were catchy pop tunes with excellent song writing. I’m sorry you did not give him a chance until you saw this performance, because what George accomplished as a solo artist puts him at the very top of the heap. He won numerous songwriting awards throughout his career and was praised by Elton, Stevie, Paul McCartney, Aretha Franklin, the works. He has absolutely amazing music in his catalogue. A unique thing about George, is he could write pop, soul/R&B, jazz, and his voice suited all of those genres. Just start looking into all of the duets he did because they are utterly phenomenal.

      Ain't that the truth! No one does that now, unless the band bans phones (which I have NO problem with at all!)

      Imagine having a smart phone & saving all these memories in the palm of your hands in those times tho! What a fuckin master piece that video would've been in your gallery lol

      @@mamaluchii Well, it would be in every person's gallery (person at the concert of course). Plus I think that, for the artist, it's not the same feeling between seeing everyone recording and everyone clapping their hands, especially in a place like Wembley.
      I mean, I see no problem if some people do this, but the problem is that everyone does it...
      And; from my point of view, I prefer official videos like this rather than a smartphone video.

    George Michael's performance is a real salute to one of the greatest. George Michael had also a fantastic presence on stage like Freddie Mercury. We will miss this kind of artists sadly

    To see the smile on Brian's face at 4:03 was so sweet. Then to see him applaud at the end was also a lovely moment which I'll admit brings tears to the eyes. This is such a powerful performance that the emotions it stirs up are amazing. There are tears but they're a mixture of happy and sad.
