    Ronno was the man, one of my favorite guitars players, not to mention arranger, pianist, producer etc.. Ziggy Stardust, The man who sold the world were the first albums that really turned me on to guitar in music, and Mick Ronson was that player that did it for me.

      Robert Fripp and Brian Eno came up with the guitar line, Tony Visconti was there and he said so. Brian Eno is the co writer of Heroes, in case you hadn't noticed.
      Heroes is based on Waiting for the Man, so I guess you could say it was written for Lou Reed. Thinking Bowie spent the rest of his career writing for Mick Ronson is just your opinion really.

    Every time I see this I get chills and tears. I can’t even imagine what it must’ve been like being there.
    Seeing Ronson so happy and playing as legendary as he always did...with even Mays watching him...and the rest of the awesome players- with Bowie front and center...Is beyond words.
    I’m most certain Freddie was there too.❤️
    They cut of the Lord’s Prayer though... which should’ve remained part of this.
    Oh how they all are so missed...especially Bowie😢
    ❤️✌️

    Here I am 1 year later still listening, watching and enjoying this amazing video. As I watch Mick Ronson performing and knowing how sick he was from his cancer and treatments, I know first hand what he feels. I've been fighting that nasty shit for 16 years and now it has returned once again, and this time with a vengeance. This concert was April 20, 1992 and Mick died April 29, 1993. How ironic is that? I sincerely admired Mick for his talent and the person he was. It makes me wonder what may have been going through his mind not knowing a year and nine days later his time would be up. God Bless all us cancer victims, our families and our loved ones, for our brave battles, win or loose.

    I could see the heart braking pain on David Bowie's face expression, his voice, at the end of this song, before he said, the song to be dedicated for Freddie Mercury's Tribute; I got that lump in my throat and watery eyes ready to cry.

      If you don't write the songs you are nothing really. The guy worked as a chef and a car mechanic just to survive.

    • @peterh1353
      @peterh1353 6 лет назад +4

      He said before he died "I am glad I am dying - because I haven't any more money for the medical bills." His wife said he and Bowie weren't in touch with each other before he died and he was blanked out. He worked as a producer and as a car mechanic too. He wanted to be with his wife and child and being on road with a band he wouldn't have been able to be. He should have - simply - being rewarded for his work. I have always thought that Bowie had a certain cynicism and a me-first about him. Ronson didn't even play on some Bowie albums when he had expected to and even needed the money.

      He was in touch with Bowie before he died, and Bowie contributed to his medical expenses, along with Ian Hunter, John Mellencamp and Joe Elliot.

    I will never forget this concert. It was broadcasted live here in Spain, hardly to imagine nowadays when music (specially live) has been banished from TV at least in Spain. All the participating artists were unbelievable. However all the songs performed by David Bowie and by George Michael got engraved in my mind forever. This performance of Heroes puts a lump in my throat evey time I listen to it. RIP David, Mick and Freddy.
