I have bad experience whit this case last year. I have to send back two cases. Wather linking inside the case and look like swimming pool. After that, pelican send to me two other case, but they still take some less humidity inside the case.
Im having issues getting my to work with my Prinsu now. I am interested in your bed rack, is it level with your roof rack? And what brand is it? Im having issues trying to find on for my long bed.
Mine are coming tomorrow and I'm also putting it on a Prinsu roof rack. The Prinsu hardware is just a 1/4" carriage bolt. You can get them in stainless from Lowes and Home Depot as well as the nuts. Do you happen to know the bolt length of yours though so I can pickup some more before it arrives? I've mounted some other stuff but not sure if I need a 1 inch bolt or something a different length.
If I measured correctly it’s the 1/2 inch length. Also for reference it’s the one the comes with the “tie down hardware” from Prinsu’s website. I used this without a washer. If I added a washer the bolt would stick out and dig into the bottom of the case. I hope that makes sense.
@@_neeks without seeing it I'm not sure how the washer would affect anything. The bolt is the same length regardless of whether you put a washer on it or not. Unless you're saying the washer wouldn't fit and still allow the nut to fit on the bolt?
@@BrandonBaecker yeah so with my experience if I had the washer on and then put the nut on...the nut would sit higher and then dig into the case. I may have misspoken.
I bought the Bx90r with the medium sized mount. Did you have an extremely hard time latching it down? I noticed mine was really tight and the mount almost seemed to flex
Did you use the original hardware provided? (Nuts & screws). Since I have a Prinsu rack...I used Prinsu’s hardware on the Pelican mounts which caused them to be somewhat difficult to latch down. (The nuts and screws dug into the case a little) I suggest making sure both mounts are lined up as straight as possible and make sure the box itself is lined up as best as you can.
@@_neeks No..I used prinsu’s hardware. Bought I tried some t-nuts and slid them in the slots and that helped. I love it but why couldn’t they get the sticker right? 🤦🏻♂️ I already have bubbling on it
@Charlie Cho I am having the exact same problem. Seems that nothing has changed in how these are made. Did you ever get a solution to the latching issue?
They don’t sell them individually but they come with the Tie Down Ring Hardware kit. You may be able to find them at a hardware store but I don’t know the exact specifications you need
I understand your comment about the trunk bed mounts competing with the tonneau cover mounting area. If you had lockable tie downs do you think the case would fit underneath a tonneau cover? I’m exploring options! Thanks!
Sorry to keep bugging you with questions but my BX140R will not stay open. If I try to open it, the lid just keeps falling down and I have to use 1 hand to hold it while I load and unload it. This is obviously problematic when it's up on the roof. I know it doesn't have struts but I would have expected it to at least stay propped open when there is no wind. Do you have this same problem?
Literally ran into this issue last night. Mine doesn’t stay open either. I’ve been doing research and haven’t found any evidence on Pelican’s website regarding any accessories. Super problematic.
@@_neeks Yeah and that lid isn't light. It comes down fast. If you're not careful it could really smash your hands. For the price it should really come with struts. 😑
@@_neeks I'm thinking of trying to remove those wire cables and seeing if that makes a difference. Every photo on the Pelican website has the cases without the cables and able to be propped open. Maybe the cable is too short.
Got my case, and was disappointed in the quality compared to the other Pelican cases I have. The case is very thin (the bottom part), but the lid (top) is very thick and sturdy. The case itself is some partially translucent plastic that allows light to shine through and overall doesn't exude confidence. Bottom half itself is thin and there's this rough structural edge, which makes up the interior rim of the bottom that is thin and not a solid piece. Regular Pelican cases have are better built and feel more solid. Idea: 9/10 Build quality (if other Pelican cases are a 10): 3/10 Mount system:9/10 Value: 5/10 because it was in sale.

hey man question, on the website the interior says 8.52" wide. Is that the opening? does it widen out below the Lip?

Do a comparison on ROAM an Pelican pls
That’s a good idea. I actually have access to a ROAM case. I will put one up by the beginning of next week.
I can ‘t decide at this point and I need one ASAP for beach days
The latching devices don’t work from case to mount. They bend and break

What lock size as far as mm shackle can fit on these?
I live in Colorado and would use them for recovery equipment and storage. Do you think they would keep the elements out?
I’m from california and we just got hit with heavy rain. It kept elements out just fine
@@_neeks I'm just curious how the seals gonna hold up after it gets wet and freezes. I'll snag one up and review it
Could you see the BX255 as being a permanent storage solution for the bed of my tacoma?
I would say yes. These cases are very versatile.
Hi. I am in Nairobi, Kenya. I am looking for a Pelican BX50 Cargo Case. Can you help?
Do you know if the cargo roof mount can work sideways (door to door not hood to bed)?
It depends on your rails. On my example yes they would work side ways.
How is the added road noise? I'm thinking of getting one for my 4Runner but the case is 11.5" tall and not aero dynamic at all.
Very noticeable. While on the roof.
What were the locks you used to lock the case to the mounts?
I used “Master Lock 4688D TSA Approved Luggage Lock - (Pack of 4)”

I understand you did a review on the roof rack mounts and cases but would you know if the side mounts for this set up are lockable?
Yes I believe they are as they use the same silver latches.

@@charliecho3470 that’s what I’m saying! Glad you love it. Definitely looking forward to what they do in the future with these.
I recently bought the same setup as you Charlie. Were you able to get it to fit? I bent the latches on mine trying to get it to clamp down.

Hey, could I trouble you for the model of that Master lock you used on the latch of the box (not the TSA lock for the side mount)? Thanks!
