Benefits of rice water for hair growth. Will rice water grow your hair?
So what in rice water makes it so special? Isnt it all just starch? And while it is true, 75-80% of rice is made of starch, and you can see it after you let the rice soak. It looks murky and foggy. Well it turns out there is more than just starch. It contains amino acids, b vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and a very interesting type of sugar responsible for cell membrane structuring, called inositol.
How to use rice water for hair growth.
And there are several methods of making the rice water preparation. You can soak the rice in water, by taking ½ cup of uncooked rice with 2-3 cups of water, and let it soak for 30 minutes, then strain the rice into a clean bowl and keep the water, OR you can ferment the rice water by leaving it in room temperature for 2 days before straining it and then actually massaging it into the hair and scalp, covering it with a shower cap for up to 20 minutes before finally rinsing it all out.
How rice water helps in hair growth. Fermented rice water.
The inositol. Now from the limited information that is out there, inositol was found to reduce surface friction of hair as well as improve elasticity of hair. If this actually were to be the case, thats a tremendous benefit just right there because we know if hair strands are resilient to friction, less hair is going to fall out, which means, more hair actually stays on your head.
It contains magnesium. And the great part about that is that it can dissolve calcium buildup on the hair from hard water. You see, when Calcium deposits in the hair follicles, it can cause hair loss, which is why magnesium oil was used to remedy this in settings where there is hard water coming from your showerhead.
Rice water contains niacin or vitamin b3, which can reduce inflammation by increasing blood flow within the scalp and bringing oxygen to the actual hair follicles as seen in this pilot study looking at females with pattern alopecia.
Yao rice water. Can rice water damage your hair.
The protein buildup with rice water. If you have low-porosity hair, which you might be thinking what on earth is that. It basically is hair that doesnt like to absorb water or treatment due to the cuticles having few amounts of pores. The rice water will just sit on top of the hair and can cause extreme dryness and sometimes damage since the proteins become harder over time, which can lead to brittle and dry hair.
Rice water and dry scalp. Lets say your hair is able to absorb the rice water within the first 30 minutes or so, if you have yeast overgrowth on the scalp, that you arent aware of, chances of a dry, flaky scalp will only get worse if you expose that to all of the starch and sugars in the rice water for a long time.
Rice water and arsenic. Rice that’s grown in the US is often grown in what used to be cotton fields. These fields, back in the day were sprayed with insecticides that contained arsenic and those trace elements still remain here today. And yes, the amounts are not large enough for the governing bodies to take them off the shelf, but i still think its important that you know that they are there, especially in the milky residue left from the rice water. Basmati rice, imported from nations without an arsenic issue, like India, may be lower in arsenic vs here in the US, with the exception of california rice, which has fewer contaminated rice paddies than other states like texas and arkansas. And no brown rice aint any cleaner either, since brown rice can contain 50% more arsenic than white. So do be aware of that.

Sure. I poured rice straight out of the bag into a large bowl ...added water...put the lid on and sat on the counter for a day. When I opened the lid the next day the smell was HORRIBLE. I poured the water (not the rice) into a spray bottle....added drops of peppermint oil. I just guessed at how much to add because again the smell is bad. I put the spray bottle in the fridge. I sprayed it on my hair after washing it ...massaged it in and covered it...then washed out. I also braided my hair down and sprayed it on and covered it. It works!!! My hair grew fast! I wasn't consistent with it but I'm about to make it again.

Pour the rice water over my conditioner ( to keep it from drying out) and then pour rice water rinse over it and let it sit for 10 to 20 minutes, then rinse it completely out, then apply another round of conditioner for 10 to 30 min.( rinse water rinse can dry your hair out and cause breakage). @@adamthompson7170it would also depend where the rice was grown as explained in the video. If it says grown in the US and does not mention the state, assume it is not safe. If it specifically says California, it is the much safer alternative or another country which you will have to look up.
Some places may have had a disaster recently, man made or natural, that made arsenic more plentiful, even in a safer country as a whole. But countries are generally bigger than California, so it could be a crap shoot.
Case in point, Japan. The government had planned to sell contaminated Fukushima rice without informing the public where the rice was actually coming from. It may not have been a full bag of rice from Fukushima, but a mix. Regardless, that upset the public. They have stores that can tell you exactly what patty field the rice was grown and when, as the Japanese take their rice very seriously. They did not want any part of rice grown in Fukushima, at least when not being informed. Regardless what Japan's government said was safe levels of radiation, even raising the bar to allow more food to be labeled "safe", which only made matters worse as people trusted the government less.
But where ever it is grown, it will still have arsenic, as that is just what rice has naturally. You can rinse to get any dirt and purities out, but some arsenic will still be there. Not sure it is really needed, if just going on the hair and will be rinsed out anyway and it is from a safe place. But better safe than sorry. Rinsing and boiling should help regardless, but still not make it 100% arsenic free. Maybe half, but I doubt it.
Sorry for long reply, but it is something I am passionate about and at least somewhat knowledgeable in. 😅

I don't use them all at one time but I'm thinking of combining them. If on a budget Rice water, rosemary liquid, mint oil, caffiene, biotin, Shea butter and castor oil. Caster oil is great for eyelashes.
I learned all this by going on Amazon and finding out the ingredients of hair growth products. Add aloe vera, keratin, green tea extract and
There are hair growth vitamins. But they're expensive. Vitamin B Complex. Something is working. I think I the Saw Palmetto, because I've had thin hair all of my life and now it's much thinker, no more split ends and I can't wait to grow it longer.

Saw palmetto is cheap and very effective for hair growth/hair loss prevention. Silica also helps with hair growth as it stimulates your body to produce its own collagen. I take Bio-Sil which is the best form of silica on the market for hair and skin health.
Lastly make sure you get at least 80 grams of protein a day in your diet. And take a multivitamin with B vitamins, vitamin C and Vitamin D. In certain people who have specific genetic mutations it’s important to get enough vitamin A (not beta carotene, real vitamin A) to grow hair. Iron is also extremely important for hair growth, especially for women.

100% on the arsenic in US rice. Unless it specifically stats it is grown in California, stay away from it. I do not care how cheap it is. The US in general has one of the world's leading levels of arsenic in rice.
And the only reason the FDA does not condemn it, is because they have no choice or people would be freaking out. Adults have large bodies, so they can eat rice daily easier. But smaller children or even babies can get arsenic poisoning. It's why certain countries have banned or put warning labels on baby products that use rice.

    • @tilasole3252
      @tilasole3252 10 месяцев назад +1

@@Hands4hire If you eat rice with every meal, or even once a day, yes. If you have it once a week, the damage caused is less, if you get it from the States in general. So really it is up to the person eating the food or the cook what they feel is needed to be done. Are little children going to be consuming it? The elderly? Is the water you drink already high in arsenic?
Japan has very good rice, for instance some of the best in the world. Provided it is not from Fukushima... The government decided to start selling rice from Fukushima, without informing the public what bags or "portions" of rice was from there. It broke the trust of the people there, as they take their health and rice very seriously.
Other parts of the world may have had a natural disaster and arsenic is now more prevalent than before, so you need to research where the rice is actually grown in.
As for myself, if it does not say California grown, I am not eating the rice from the US.

Is there a way to deal with the whole low porosity thing and still use the rice water? I just left it on my head the whole night and my hair is low porosity. Btw, the recipe I know cooks the rice water! does that make any difference?

Never leave rice water or any other protein treatment on your hair overnight, you’re asking for trouble. Your hair will end up breaking off if you keep doing it.

When applied topically for four to six weeks of continued use, it may promote elasticity, increase volume, tame frizz, and protect hair from damage, which can support hair growth if these factors are the culprits.

The people who use rice water washings have very different genetics, diets, life styles than Americans. The only part of hair that's alive is in your scalp where it's fed by blood. The American diet is terrible. We eat garbage, we fry our hair with chemicals, and heat. Our hair does not grow healthy. Hair may LOOK thicker because starch is clinging to it.
Ask and scientist if rice water grows hair and they'll say no.
