  • A closer look at BIG AGNES TENSLEEP STATION 6 tent (same as STATION 4 - just a tad larger). Sturdy, spacious, well-made and well-thought-out 3-season tent that fits our family of 4 and the bulk of our bags perfectly! Great quality, too!

I have used the Big Agnes Tensleep 6 (13 pounds) for nearly a decade. I chose it for car-camping base camps due to the 6-foot center ceiling height. The tent has held well in multiple storms and windy days, fully tacked-down. In considering the interior of tents, I travel solo so any tent is adequate, but always knock at least 1-person out of the capacity numbers suggested for any tent. I also own the Fly Creek 1 (2 pounds) and Rattlesnake 3 (6 pounds) for backpacking and versatility.

That's a nice collection! I agree, we still use the tent, and so far it held up really well. I like the ceiling height, too.

How long are your trekking poles that you used to create the awning? My poles are apparently too short for my Tensleep, so I'd like to buy an alternative.

I bought a bunch of adjustable paracord clips with the locking gears. I tie-up the door canopy to distant trees or other anchor sites and can easily adjust the cord length. Nite Ize CamJam Cord Tightener (2-pack) $6.00 at REI.

It looks small for a 6 person tent....you can barely get 3 sleeping bags side by side

No, I think the length is about 11 feet, so 5 sleeping bags and pads should squeeze into the Big Agnes 6. I would never push any tent to the stated capacity.
