The song was originally written and composed by Synyster Gates for his grandfather who passed away but once the Rev passed, he changed the lyrics and it became about him... it's so heartbreaking... Great Reaction!!
I was a fan for a few years before he passed away. Woke up devastated to the news. Cant believe it's been over 11 years. Privileged to have heard him live
Same here... I still have the drawing I made of him the day after he passed. Sad we can't post pictures here. ^^ I was 16 and I remember my family couldn't understand why I was so sad, almost crying sometimes. This guy was, and still is, a Legend.
The first time I ever heard Avenged Sevenfold, I was getting dressed for school in 2011. This music video came on VH1. I cried and mourned all day for this man I had never met. I love them so much!
This song gets harder and harder to listen to every year. I miss the rev so much. I'm so glad you are better now. We all got into this band for our own different reasons. We are a family. I love that you understand the pain and you feel it like we do with the revs passing. God this song hits you like a 10 ton truck. Thank you for showing love to them on your channel. It means a lot from a longtime fan. I saw the rev live and I feel honored. I have a shirt I bought from that day and every time I put it on I can feel the revs drum beats. It's my most valued possession. I also share a birthday with Synyster Gates the guitarist. Fun fact.
We lost the rev around the same time I lost my best friend the whole nightmare album is just so damn sad when you realize every single song on that album ripped every single member apart especially Matt and Brian aka synyster gates. Tonight the world dies and save me are the two saddest songs I’ve ever heard. Thank you so much I’ve been looking every night for more rev reactions or videos and can never find them. James the rev Sullivan was the mind behind the 2000’s greatest metal band and will foRever be my favorite drummer. Thank you ma’am
My god, we miss the Rev. The man was absolutely out of his head, but I've never met anyone sweeter to fans. His impact is just unreal, even those who found the band after we lost him... It's incredible. RIP Jimmy.
I remember seeing Gates start crying in concert while performing this song. This song tugs at my heart so hard. I remember crying the first time I watched this video when the home movies came on. Brompton cocktail, really hits home hard too.
Syn is my favorite guitarist. Every single song by A7X is worth a listen just to hear his work if nothing else! Love this band, my first tattoo was a deathbat! Never say no to an Avenged Sevenfold request lol!
I've actually got videos of the first time they played Fiction in Indiana Gates had me crying he was watching a video memorial of the Rev and turned around tears just streaming down his face I personally lost it I hate it when guys cry
“Your pain is gone, Your hands untied” that line made me bawl like a child when I first heard this song. The rev was a massive inspiration to me and I’ve loved A7X since sounding the seventh trumpet. The rev’s passing will never not hurt 😞
The guitar in the montouge gets me everytime. You can feel the tears and sorrow radiating off of syn's guitar playing in that moment. Peter Frampton made his guitar gently weep. Synyster Gates made his guitar wail in agony.
I actually have a pair of blue angel wings with, "Place and time, always on my mind. I have so much to say but you're so far away" tattooed in memory of my brother. March 9th will be 14 years ago he passed. Avenged was one of his favorite bands.
Actually this song was written by Synyster Gates , it was going to be about his grandfather, then Jimmy passed ! They (Matt,Syn,Zack,Johnny and Jimmy) were all extremely close , with the 4 (Johnny is the brother of one of their mutual friend's and is a few years younger) Matt,Syn,Zack and Jimmy all being friends since elementary school! Syn and Jimmy were extremely, extremely close as they had the band Pinkly Smooth together before Syn joined A7X as he was not the original lead guitarist! But the entire song was written by Syn !
The musical talent within friends will always blow my mind with this band... jimmy was considered one of the best drummers/song writers on the planet and syn is a generational guitar player... fking insane
The most beautiful and at the same time chilling thing is that the last song Rev wrote was Fiction, where he says: "All this hurt can finally fade Promise me you'll never feel afraid" cause he knew he was going to die. He was in constant pain from his enlarged heart and he knew he wouldn't make it past his 20s. And then in this song, M Shadows sings: "Sleep tight, I'm not afraid"....
This song (if I recall correctly) was actually written entirely by their lead player Synyster Gates. And while originally was about his grandfather who had passed, however when Jimmy passed it took over as a double tribute for both of them I will add that Shadows sung this song with such passion that the lyrics seem like his. But given the subject matter it makes all the sense in the world
I send you the biggest hugs Jen. I know the feeling all to well. I didn't watch your reaction I just listened til it was over. Instantantly subscribed. I'm in tears.

Been a fan of them for 14 years. I saw them live a month after my grandfather passed away. They played this song and ever since then I cry every time I hear this song.
This is a personal song from M. Shadows himself. They are extremely close, like actual brothers between the two. It was heartbreaking when the tragic news was announced.
The song was written by their guitar player for his grandfather who had passed away but when the Rev passed away he wanted to write it for him instead.

you're the only genuine reaction I've found to this masterpiece and actual insight as to what the video is about. thanks for that. I've been in a sad song rabbit hole thinking about my mother who passed away last year in an accident. she loved coming over and bugging me and we would end up watching music videos together and I always chose songs that I know she would like and enjoy with me, especially this song. she lost her father when she was my age (about 29), and she passed away at 54, living almost half of her life without him, taken away too soon. now my brother and I are both grieving daily about losing her, but at least she's not in pain anymore. that's the only thing that helps us cope. I would give anything for my phone to ring and for it say "Mom".

love your reaction to this. you.. vocalized it in words that can everyone can feel. " when you lose somebody, it feels like they've die. Its just as painfull as death" .. really hit me hard.
It is physically impossible for me to get 5 second through this song without starting to cry cause I can just here the pain in the guitar. Thank you for sharing your story Jen people like you are very inspirational to me because society hs always told me drug addicts never change and just give up on them and hearing that you got yourself out of that and bettered your life just proves those people wrong. 6:07 to 6:40 really hit home for me. You nailed it on the head. Me personally, I dont think we die just once in this life, we die mutiple times. That person, 10 years ago, isn't the same person now. We go through traumatic situations and going through that forms a new version of ourselves. That old you is gone. I will never be that 18 year old kid again. Feelings, mentality, personally, all changes. The only thing we can do, is move forward. Better ourselves for a better tomorrow.
The Rev wrote and recorded a last song, it´s called "Fiction". In that song, Jimmy says "Promise me you'll never feel afraid" In this song, Matt responds him telling "Sleep tight Im not afraid".
I think we don't really find ourselves but reveal real true parts of ourselves through experiencing first hand who we don't want to be, who we aren't and what pain we don't want to be responsible for, you've been through chaos to collect who you always were and it couldn't of happened any other way, well done. Just lost an amazing friend this last year. We met when we were 12 at camp. I turn 35 in a few weeks. It was a scenario that everyone who really knew him saw coming but could never figure out how to stop. I wish with everything in my heart to have found a way to save him, I miss him so much. Hearing this again is real hard right now. But I needed the cry.
Your channel is gonna blow up in the next 12 months if you just keep doing what your doing! My favorite female reacter by a long shot! 1 million subscribers by the end of the year??💯💯
Sometimes its worse to watch people experience a loss you became used to. The urge to help is noble. Don't lose your humanity while also denying it from others.
I seen them live in 2010 in Glasgow, Scotland 🏴 not long after The Rev passed away. Stone Sour were also on the tour with them best concert I've ever been to ❤️
I'm glad you were able to beat your addictions. Not a lot of people can do that. One thing people seem to forget with the Rev is that it wasn't the drugs that killed him, it was a heart defect he had since birth. Grant it the drugs didn't help but the cause of death was his heart condition. He lived an amazing life and he lived at his way. That's all any of us can do.
There's a live video I can't remember where they were playing at, but M Shadows actually starts crying in the middle of the song as he singing. You can hear his voice cracking while he's trying to fight back the tears. And I feel worse for Sin Gates because he knew the rev the longest.
Props to you I was addicted to oxys for 7 or 8 years myself it was all fun at first but by the time me and my buddies realized we were physically addicted it was too late. I'm thankful I never lost any of my close friends to it but I lost a few friends of friends. I just wanted to commend you on getting out of the cycle it's the hardest thing I've ever done. Keep it up, the hardest part is passed we just need to stay strong with what has already been accomplished
I’ll have 8 years November 1st. I’m glad you and I both escaped that. Too many people I know (who didn’t) are gone 😞 may they all Rest In Peace, even though their addiction won 😢 Much respect 🫡 to you and your journey. Keep on fighting my friend. Keep on fighting that good fight.

Hearing this again is real hard right now. But I needed the cry.
Your channel is gonna blow up in the next 12 months if you just keep doing what your doing! My favorite female reacter by a long shot! 1 million subscribers by the end of the year??💯💯
Dude she gained like 3k since December and she's been on since August. She's Hella amazing
@@DoomHarvest8303 Dude stfu! Why you hate’n???
Nah I wasn't hating
I was just saying she's getting more subs than she can realize
I might of wrote it wrong my fault
Glad you found yourself! Take care and rock on.
One subscriber for being a fan of my all time favorite band A7X
Subscribed after watching this video.. well done
The last song the rev ever wrote was fiction. That song hits just as hard as this
Sometimes its worse to watch people experience a loss you became used to. The urge to help is noble. Don't lose your humanity while also denying it from others.
I seen them live in 2010 in Glasgow, Scotland 🏴 not long after The Rev passed away. Stone Sour were also on the tour with them best concert I've ever been to ❤️
A7x they r just breadth taking...
I got the Rev tattoo on my fist just like shadows ! I respect this band !
Ɓest reaction to this song. "Your pain is gone, your hands untied ". Amazing lyrycs all the way through.
Lxve Yxu Jen keep up the good work 😇🙏🙏❤
There's a live video I can't remember where they were playing at, but M Shadows actually starts crying in the middle of the song as he singing. You can hear his voice cracking while he's trying to fight back the tears. And I feel worse for Sin Gates because he knew the rev the longest.
I can’t help but cry every time I hear this song.
Too many people I know (who didn’t) are gone 😞 may they all Rest In Peace, even though their addiction won 😢
Much respect 🫡 to you and your journey. Keep on fighting my friend. Keep on fighting that good fight.
The Rev wrote and recorded a last song, it´s called "Fiction". In that song, Jimmy says "promise me you´ll never feel afraid"
In this song, Matt responds him telling "sleep thigt, i´m not afraid".
A small but devastating detail
Miss you so much grandad 3 weeks ago the world took you from me you will never be forgotten even though your so far away 😭
So true!
